Nice design prototypes! I’ve done this with a large kite on the end of a spinnaker pole but yours does more than I realized possible. I want one of those catamarans you’re visualizing 💚🐸
Theres abook on this .Something like "Fliptackers and Sailloons"I learned a lot from this. The author called this design a "fliptacker".You have no heeling and the ideal airfoil for either beam wind. Thanks for posting!
This is fantastic and inspiring. I'm building a 16' double outrigger sailing canoe using a soft version of the overhead or horizontal sail, which can be deployed like a regular crab-claw, or overhead like an aileron on an airplane. This turns the forces into lift, offering a new dimension to conventional sailcraft. A grommet and bungee can give the symmetrical crab claw a delta wing shape as well. The boat is nearly done and I am prepping to sew the prototype sail.
Looks great! My uncle built something very similar in a full size boat in the mid 60's. I think you can see the patent if you search for John Lincoln in Google patents. Also Bernard smith did some great work in this vein, starting sometime in the late 40's. You might even be able to find some copies of his books. One was called "the 40 knot sailboat "
I am curious if you are the same individual who released the video of the seemingly strange object in lake okanagan that some have speculated might be the ogopogo or something similar. I was wondering if you were in a boat that had a motor on it and were you operating the motor during the sighting or immediately preceding the sighting?

Do you have an update on your build? How did it go?

Inspiring indeed... I am actually thinking of building a similar RC sailboat....

you've essentially provided us a more expensive means of attaining the same speed.
...das ist Revolution im Segelbau`!!!
Could this solid sail be a problem while stationary at a dock (power from wind)?
try it on a sea kayak.
