Had the honor of spending some time on a Royal Canadian destroyer in Halifax and also doing ops with them. What a great group of men and women, to work with. We also hosted some of them over on our Frigate.

No offense but the only reason America spends so much money on their military is because they use it more. We don't really use our stuff because most of the Canadian military fights along side America so we use their equipment not Canada.

You got that right. There are many restricted parts of the ship, the communication spaces for example.

haha dont get all butthurt. It looks way more like a "home" than a ship. Any improvement to quality of life is key. I'd do anything to skype my family during deployment. On my last deployment that was almost 10 months long, we werent even allowed to use our own personal bed sheets. When they did berthing inspections, the standard issued sheets had to be on the bed. No Facebook access unless at port, sailor phones were expensive and quality was crap.

I was in the US army for 21yrs. You NEVER EVER NEVER left a weapon unattended. It always has to be within arms reach. In Germany the Canadians would lean their weapons up against a wall and wander away, not even post a guard. They never could understand why that was a big no-no.

In Afghanistan I saw American soldiers leaving their weapons unattended.
Never NEVER do that. Very untrained US soldiers.
