- If Quentin Tarantino thinks it's a cool show, then it's official, right? Seen here are a few times Hullabaloo was referenced in film - Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Why Do Fools Fall in Love, and The Queen's Gambit.
Let me know if there are more references out there, please!

Hullabaloo was a tv variety show that ran for two seasons from January 1965 to April of 1966, and was considered a sophisticated rival to “Shindig.” The show was taped mostly in New York (NBC Brooklyn and 8H at Rockefeller Center) as well as NBC Burbank. Hullabaloo aired in color, but was archived mostly in black and white.

I remember our servants serving us as we gathered around our TV watching Hullabaloo, Shindig and Laugh-In. Great memories.
I was 16 years-old when Hullabaloo first aired in 1965, and I didn't know how lucky I was to be a teenager back then...until the Vietnam War and the draft sent Uncle Sam to our house with 'GREETINGS'.
The footage seen on the TV in "The Queen's Gambit" here is from "Hollywood a Go-Go", not Hullabaloo. Ironically, in "Why Do Fools Fall in Love", although they depicted Frankie Lymon on "Hullaballo" making a successful comeback, that never happened in reality. He was on "Hollywood a Go-Go" lip-syncing to his old hit records he made when he was a kid before his voice changed. The voice change is the real reason his career vanished on him, but it's not even mentioned in the film. Sadly, he never actually made a comeback and his life ended in tragedy. The film is largely fictional (at least the later portions after his hits disappeared).
I saw "Why Do Fools Fall In Love". The next day I was at the library looking at old TV Guides on microfilm. I looked at the guests who appeared on Hullabaloo, and Frankie Lymon wasn't listed. Chalked it up to dramatic effect. I did see the clip of Frankie on Hollywood a Go-Go in a documentary about him.
So it looks like Quentin Tarantino is the only one who strove to get all the details right!
John, Thank you for putting this whole collection together. l know it took alot of editing, time and patience to do so. l appreciate it very much. Thank you for keeping Hullabaloo alive! ❤️
Bravo! Thanks John.
I've read that Lada Edmund, a HULLABALOO dancer now in her 70s, appeared as a dancer w/ Leo DiCaprio's character in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood".
I don't know if that's a fact, but would love to verify. What I do know is that the infamous Toni Basil, who was on a similar show called Shindig back in the 60's, choreographed the Hullabaloo girls when they danced with Leonardo. For those of us who crave authenticity, it was just fabulous. I suppose we have Quentin Tarantino to thank for that!
PBS for their pledge drive aired Hullabaloo. Lada and David Winters appeared during the breaks. Would love to know if there was pilot?
Do you know what happened to the dancers after the short-lived series? Hopefully they all are still alive and enjoying great health.
