They dont seem to accept UK address?
Operator error, got it now.
be careful i got caught with them craftsy had a real cheap first year and then when it ran out they took £75.00 out my account with out telling me. just beware!
Please remember to cancel automatic renewal or they will charge full price in 2025 automatically
Got signed up and first thing I did was cancel the automatic renewal too!
Although I watch your channel for the sewing content, I really enjoyed hearing about your experience at the Chelsea Flower show and it made me wonder if you'd heard of the Open Gardens scheme? Me and my hubby are a bit addicted to it during the summer, it's lovely having a nosy at other people's gardens and they often serve drinks, cakes & fizz at some of them - a lovely, inexpensive way to spend a summer Saturday or Sunday! Just search online for Open Gardens in your area if you're interested. ☺
Got to agree with you, my friend and I absolutely love going round the garden and craft schemes, I am lucky to live I the beautiful east Neuk of fife Scotland and you get a nosey round peoples gardens and because the places are little fishing villages and big old houses sometimes you have to go through their house to get to the garden which are incredible, oooh as you can tell I'm excited for the to start lo x
Oh that sounds amazing!!!!
Lovely fabrics Ruan. I’m just like your mum as always cold. I’m the one in a hoodie whilst others are in tee shirts! I love that you make your mother garments as I make quite a few things for other people. This gives me pleasure and makes me feel less greedy😆
I just love the daisy flower fabrics for you mum. Love hearing about your chelsea flower show Ruan. Shit about the rain! Glad you got your wee crossstitch. Hope to see you soon 😻
Thanks again sweetie x
The matchy matchy tue front set in the double guaze patchwork 😊
Two great fabrics for your mum & loved the ones you bought for yourself - definitely a ‘white theme’ going on with what you bought. Agree re Chelsea, now very expensive since I went + difficult to see the gardens close up with the crowds. I have now decided to just watch the tv coverage! ❤
Yes I think the tv coverage gets you a better view 😂
Well I believe you’re mum and I would have a contest. Can’t stand being cold always cold… people melt in my studio 😂
Grew up in the tropics and 15 degrees is cold!
Been a member of Craftsy for about 10 years … daughter uses it for cake decorating…
The white and pink gauze is gorgeous…
Loving the pink and red animal print… BUY MORE
OHHHH. ok wasn’t the fabric I chose… but yes I liked all of them 😂
Like I said from the start … you’ve got this 💕🦩💖🦩💕
Totally agree about Chelsea, too expensive and way too crowded. Hampton Court is better as more space, I imagine the Malvern Show is also more spaced out and might be closer😊👍🏼I've done Chelsea in sun and rain and it's so unpredictable! ❤😊
So sorry to hear you had a rainy day at Chelsea, it's a lovely venue on a warm, cloudy day, (so it's not too hot!). Love all your fabric purchases, I'm looking forward to seeing all your makes.
It’s such a shame it rained at Chelsea but still sounds like you had an amazing time 😊
I just listened to your weekend in London as we’re just planning one for August for a big wedding anniversary. My worst nightmare is to be wet and cold so I really felt for you at the Chelsea flower show. I kept thinking oh and bare legs😬🥶😱 I could add so many more faces x😆
Amazing quilt love the colours 🦖
In the Tilly and the buttons stretch book there is a pullover top with kangaroo pockets, I’ve done this with a zip front and just make a facing I love it and the fit is lovely 😊
Y-E-S for the red tie dye saltwater slip. That would look gorgeous!!❤❤❤
Oh my gosh Ruan, I started watching the video 6 minutes after it was posted and it's taken me 4 hours to finish watching in tiny snippets. You know those days when you can't sit down for more than 5 minutes before someone needs something? 🙄 Lovely fabric haul (your mum is a lucky girl) and congrats on crossing off something from the bucket list!
I would make a stunning top with the pink x
The Craftsy offer is WILD! I thought there wouldn’t be any left after 4,000 views but I got one! Thanks for partnering with them and doing the legwork on explaining for us! Great deal!
Amazing!
Lovely fabrics. I have just made a Chalk & Notch Wren blouse in a double gauze and it held the shape of the puffed sleeves really well.
Having a catchup on your videos as had Mum visiting.
Love the fabrics!
The Dani Jacket by Atelier Jupe is one I plan to make with zip ❤
Yes I really like that pattern too 😍
I made the free Hawthorn jacket from Mood sewciety in fleece, just altered the back to be one piece instead of the ”overlap” it is designed with. Also made one version with added small pockets in the princess seam.
The fold line latest blog post talks about half zips and fleece (May 29th), lots of good options there.
Ooh thank you ☺️
Don't forget to make a label for your quilt Ruan
Hello Ruan, love, love the quilt. Large prints in beautiful bold colors are amazing. I do a bit of quilt making myself. In fact that is what got me back to sewing. Thanks for sharing.
The Friday Pattern Co Arlo jacket is really nice with a full zip for your Mum. It is a really nice sew too. I am in awe of that daisy navy fabric. It is going to look stunning! Lisa x 🇦🇺
I couldn’t resist the Fabric Godmother sale either, one of the fabrics I got was the fleece with the flowers on it like your blue one but I got the mauve colour way. It’s beautiful, and I’m also looking for a zipped hoodie type pattern. I’ve made the Hey June Handmade Halifax Hoodie a few times, it’s a great pattern with lots of variations…… so I might make another of these.
“It would be rude not to!” Haha! You really got some gorgeous fabrics!!
Hey girl, lovely fabrics as per usual. Lovely quilt you have there. Love the makes for your Mom all the time, Those moms are special.
I’ve been a couple of times to the Chelsea flower show. I’ve been on the Tuesday as well and just go to main avenue first and see the gardens and then do the marquees - I did think it was expensive as well and got overexcited by tulips one year (£100 later) I live really close to RHS Wisley in Surrey and go a lot (they do evening dog walks) - it’s fabulous. Lovely fleece fabrics from fabric godmother.
Was listening to you talk about craftsy and thought it sounded amazing but I bet it will be expensive, the speed at which I clicked and signed up when you said the price 😂 I impressed myself!
🤣🤣
Thanks for the Craftsy discount - signed up as tried it a few years ago and it was great 👍🏼
Wonderful fabrics for you and your mum! I have a white cotton dobby fabric in my stash that I’ve set aside for a blouse, Simplicity 9469. Can’t wait to see what you make!💖
Ooh lovely 🥰
I bought 3m of the pink & red animal print viscose fabric, absolutely love it, think I am going to make the Sauvie dress by Sew House Seven 😊
Libs is great, and such a nice person. I’ve been following her on Instagram for years! Your quilt is beautiful. I sew clothes and quilts. It have several quilts that need to be quilted and a dozen pieces of clothing that need to be sewn. Who’s counting? 😂
Hi Ruan. Love your fabric choices. Hampton Court flower show is a good choice - a much bigger area to accommodate all the visitors and plenty of seating. How about some pink patch pockets on a white pj top for modesty?
Ooh thank you. Yes I need to look into more flower shows x
I am patterns have a great zip up fleece hoodie with lots of combinations Ruan x
For the zip-up hoodie, Itch to Stitch has a great zip hoodie. The Nazare hoodie. Thanks for sharing your fabulous fabric purchases!
Just placed my Rainbow Fabrics order and got my 20% discount. Thank Ruan for the code ❤
More than welcome 👍
On the look for double gauze now 😂
Hi Ruan watching you from our balcony in Turkey😂
Thanks Ruan. I like your style. The fabrics are all beautiful!
Please send your rain to South Australia! 😂 I’ll send you back some sunshine ☀️ I can’t remember the last time it rained. Maybe around Christmas? The Chelsea flower show is also on my bucket list. It’s a bit further away for me though. 😅🌺🪻🌹
Thanks for sharing Ruan, the May weather has been so changeable it’s been hard to decide what to wear! 💙🧶🌈🍓
Still not decided what to make with the pink/red fabric might just keep looking at it !!
I’ve bought some red double gauze and the plum dress pattern totally copying you! Loved your version so much.
I’ve been to Chelsea a few times yes very busy such a shame the weather let u down does make a difference.
Hampton court flower show is amazing set in the grounds loads of space bit more informal than Chelsea and you can buy plants ! Beautiful day out xxxxxxx
Just signed up to craftsy, thank you Ruan
Ok, you are the either best influencer or worst enabler 😂 I have wanted the oink and red fabric forever and I just bought it along with an embroidered or eyelet linen. Thank you for the code! It made the purchase possible because shipping was expensive to USA. And, I received enough points to get another discount with the next purchase. Let me know when there is another drop. Xoxoxo
He he! If you follow me on instagram I always pop details on my stories of when the drops are honey 👍🏼
Shame it rained for you at the flower show ☹️ I took my mum for her 60th a few years ago as she’d always wanted to go and even though I’m not into gardening I loved it! We went on the last day where they sell off the plants so we bought loads and were crammed between plants on the drive home 😂 I really enjoyed seeing the different landscape designs but it’s true that it gets really busy. Definitely worth seeing once in your life though!
You temptress Ruan! Just signed up. Thank you. 😊
Thanks Ruan for the Craftsy code. I joined a local art class fir water colours and loved it - so relaxing x
Off to look at Craftsy now!!!! Ooooo xxx
The RHS Tatton flower show which I go to regularly is changing to every 3rd year so next year you can take the hubs to Wentworth Woodhouse in South Yorkshire! 💜
Oh that’s fab. Thank you for letting me know xx
Hi Ruan, I got the crafty offer and can't wait to start with crochet especially amigurumi. Thank you! A less busy rhs show is tatton park which is much smaller than Chelsea and not as commercial. Hampton Court ie great, well spread out so never claustrophobic and the river trip to the grounds is lovely. Many thanks for all the info and laughs, Angela
Ooh thank you. Hope you enjoy Craftsy 🥰
Hello! Yep, the weather is crazy. We had nothing but rain in March and April. I swear the sun rarely made an appearance 😢. We just started getting some sunny days and the temperatures have been cold until recently. We’re starting to get warmer, thank God! Oh, I’m getting a Juki sewing machine! My husband’s friend has one brand new and he’s giving it to me for free 🥹. I’m so excited. Oh, I love your quilt. It’s beautiful. I made my first one last year and I love it. I’m working on my third one now. It’s a baby quilt for a friend. Nope, didn’t get any fabric from any fabric store. I am going to use what I have. I’m out of control with fabric and patterns 😅. I have fleece to make a Dani Jacket. That would be lovely. That’s the only one I can think of🤔. We all need plain fabrics for some basic garments. I love double gauze. I think of pajamas too 😅. Although, I’m making a pajama set out of cotton lawn. I thinking of a nightgown too. Glad you had fun with your husband. So important to spend time together. Those flowers were amazing. Sounded like you had fun 😊. Hubby and I do something every weekend. I’m able to get on our motorcycle now and it’s our favorite date thing to do when it’s nice out 🥰. Thank you for sharing! Your chatty friend Diane 😂❤
How about the Sinclair Juno. I haven't made it yet, but I have made a few of their patterns.
Quilt making us as addictive as dressmaking. I went from sewing clothes, to sewing quilts for lots of years and then back to clothes.
Enjoyed that Ruan, you are brilliant. I have gotten the Craftsy year subscription, I am thrilled, thank you very much 😊❤❤❤
Fabulous fabrics your mum is very lucky can't find wait for the makes 😊😊
Fab video as per 💜. Love, love, love the pink and red leopard print - can't wait to get my hands on some, pay day tomorrow 😊. Thanks for the Craftsy link - I've signed up 👍
Have fun!
I have used double gauze to make a seamwork no and a chalk and notch Marcel top. I love both!
A bomber jacket would look FABULOUS 💙🤍💙
Bloody rain! I’ve taken half term off work to spend with the kids and they’ve mostly been watching movies and playing video games due to the appalling British summer! Love your fabrics!
🙈. Hope you enjoyed it anyway honey xx
I have the Arlo Jacket by FPC and have not made it up, but it does have a zip. The Stanton Hoodie by Cashmerette has an option to put in a full front zip. Have not made that one either - fat lot of help I am being!
No that’s a couple of great suggestions! Thank you x
I have been wanting to rejoin for a while now, craftsy that is. Thank you for this opportunity. I got mine tonight.
Thank you for the Craftsy offer. I am so pleased to be able to renew my subscription at such a bargain price, it’s a really great resource. For your next steps in quilting I would recommend the 2012 Block of the month project by Amy Gibson - which can be completed in bite-sized pieces. As a follow on Amy‘s quilt is put together and quilted by Leah Day. Both are fantastic teachers.
Oh that’s great. Thank you x
You’re leading me astray!! Have signed up to Craftsy and ordered the Quincy dress pattern- get me!!!! Thanks for all your vlogs, your smiling happy face always cheers me up 🐾🐾
Yay!!
They nice thing about quilts is they always fit. Welcome to the dark side
I’m hear you! The dark side is always more fun 😁
🤣👍🏼
Great vlog Ruan ,really enjoyed hearing about your London trip.😌xx.
Your nails match that sky blue fabric.... stunning match.
Thank you so much - you always brighten up my day. Bagged the Craftsy subscription. I bought some luxury ponte in the FG sale to make a Sirocco jumpsuit for travelling - no creasing! It’s lovely.
Ooh nice!
Thank you so much for the lovely shout-out, Ruan! ❤❤
Btw, love your new fabrics. That red and pink animal print is so you! Gorgeous. Maybe the Arlo track jacket could work for your mum's jacket?
You are so welcome! 🤗
You’ll nail the Style Arc. 😊
Got 5 fabrics from Fabric Godmother. All beautiful. One was the same flowery fleece as you some cotton Gauze and some pretty jersey. Also some cotton drill for the Thea trousers all for around £80. It was like all my Christmas’s come early
Their sales are just so good aren’t they!
I’ve your fabrics!
Have you consider the Pattern Scout Cozi Jacket for your mom's fleece jacket? It's on sale right now for $12.80. Definitely buy more of that pink and red animal print viscose.
Ooh that's a good call! thank you x
Great vlog Ruan. Lovely fabric and plans. I did enjoy craftsy during lockdown and that is a super discount code, just thought I would mention that to cancel the automatic payments once you sign on to the first discounted year, you had to phone an American hotline number. you only have 3 days to cancel the contract. Check the terms and conditions. make sure you put the date in your calendar otherwise the automatic payments will go on forever! You cannot cancel it yourself on the account and there is no email contact help. The terms and contract are not like the UK ones. A bit like paramount plus. Took me ages to find the cancellation page for that but at least you could do that online. Not so with craftsy. It is a great website though some of the classes that you might want now have to be purchased separately like suzi furher etc.
Is that 3 days from signing up ?
I have managed to turn of automatic renewal on my membership you can do it now and still get the whole year!! 😊 didn’t have to ring just pressed button 🙌👌
Yep, me too !
Managed to turn off automatic renewal too 😊
Hi Ruan, I just signed up to craftsy through your link and I'm a bit confused! It still shows prices for individual classes?
Hello lovely ☺️ From my discussions previously with Craftsy, all classes are accessible in the Premium membership. Once you are signed up you will be able to watch any of the classes without additional payment.
All people (regardless of having a membership or not) have the option to purchase classes to "own forever", but with memberships and as long as you’re logged in you can access the classes through your membership!
Hope that helps 🥰
It does, thank you!!
Hi I am want to learn to make clothes i currently just do craft sewing. As a newbie what patterns/tutorials do you recommend?
What about the Tilly and the Buttons Make it Simple book. You get instructions and 6 patterns and it’s like a capsule wardrobe. You do have to trace the patterns off as they are overlaid on top of one another but that’s the only drawback and I always trace my patterns anyway. At time of writing £15.99 on Amazon. They’re giving the size range as 6-24.
Yes I would say the same as Louise. The Tilly & The Buttons book is fantastic for starters 🤩
xXX👍👍👍
