WOW, my old neighborhood, I lived in the Atlantic City area for 35 years, the lobster house in Cape May was a mandatory summer road trip...I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and I'm watching from the beginning...
Love watching you buddy as a single sailing father good to see you kicking butt! Will be good to see someone from my home province of N.B aboard Lady K! Fair Winds my friend!
Watch several cruising vids. Yours is among the best. We especially like that you dont trash the ICW. Its a world class cruising ground for sure. We also love the Dismal Swamp Canal. Keep up the great work.
... Grew up in Cape May spending the summers there. Yes it is a Powerboat/Sports fishing town. Yep the only "dingy" dock is at the Lobsterhouse along side the Schooner "America". Are you a member of an accredited "Yacht Club"??? If you are you could of visited the Corrienthian Yacht Club and used their facilities. I carry a letter from RHYC that states "I'm a member in good standing" and I can visit most YC's. Worldwide ... You should try NYC Harbor on an 18' HobieCat doing the Statue of Liberty Race in July from Sandy Hook around the Statue and back ... approximently 36miles ... it's a washing machine and you are the smallest boat there ... lots and lots and even still more Ferries that will run you over !!! Except for Cape May, Atlantic City and maybe Barneget ... "Great Bay" inlet brings you through breaking surf/waves over the "Bar" ... the other small inlets are not worth risking ... those small inlets need POWER ... lots and lots of power and speed to run ... preferably big twin Diesels !!! and 40+ ft of Hatterass Sport fisherman ... THROTTLES UP !!!! ( I've been in or out of all of them ... in some really really hairy conditions ... on powerboats tho ....) I wouldn't try them in an underpowered sailboat. It's not a bad "hop" from Cape May to Sandy Hook (110 miles approx) .... plenty of shore lights to guide you ... imagine a (110 m) "Carnival" along the coastline ... in bad weather work your way off shore ... the water is deeper, the waves "stack up" close in due to the shallow water depth ... 6-10 miles off shore is best in rough conditions ... (I have also "sailed" the coast too)
Looks like you’re doing well, glad you got some crew! I’d enjoy seeing you so a bit of crew interview or hearing what led up to him hopping aboard. Safe travels!
I was taught for cya certification to always motor with main up which I have been doing for 8 years .I have come out of port my wife feeling sick put the main up and it goes away
Hey Tim, as a Jersey shore fisherman, those small bluefish are pretty good eating. They haven't had time to get big and nasty. Little butter, garlic and black pepper wrapped in foil on the grill. Yummy! And I don't like bluefish.
Manasquan is a lovely stop but you have to respect conditions at the entrance. An outgoing current and an onshore wind may be dangerous indide the jetties. If you can make it through proceed into the far corner of The Glimmer Glass. You will need to wait until 2hrs away from low tide to get past the shallows after the bridge. Once inside near the last house you can beach your dinghy and it's a short walk to the grocery and restaurants.
After Atlantic city if you go north you should stop on this place there is a free dock on the back on the restaurant and the food is great The Shrimp Box & Outside The Box Patio Bar 75 Inlet Dr, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742
Tim, how many hours did the run from Cape May to Manhattan take? I’m surprised you could do 100 miles in mostly daylight. Thanks for another great, informative video.
It’s a shame all you cruises anchor so far away from shore in my country we read the weather wind anchor no more than a couple hundred mtrs from shore so one ca keep an eye on the mast sometimes good vid thanks
Thank you Sir
Great episode! Thank you!

I just continue watching the video and I realize that I'm too late to your already way North from there 😁
I believd the entire south Jersey shore is sand, except some mud coves. Nothing to scrape on.
You seemed like a novice starting out. Now, you sound like an experienced expert and good person to learn from.
the restaurant and bar look similar to Hurricane Patties in St Auggy
I’m still trying to figure out my costs , and I was wondering how much it costs motor all day long on a boat that size?
Cape May I found very very friendly.

Hey Tim, not sure where you are real time but if you stop off eastern CT or RI coast sometime soon I’d love to get a beer 🍻
Are you coming up the Erie Canal?
what video editor do you use?
Tim, if you had rode the gulf stream up would you have made better time?
What is this deadline your on?
What guide are you going by? Are there pages for notes?
Skipper Bob's Anchorage Guide comes out every year.

I'm guessing your new crewmate is not an experienced sailor.
