Excellent singing and acting!! Judas, Pilate and Jesus were very good. Herod was hilarious. Caiphas and his men were awesome as well.. Wonderful show.🌹
First saw the JSC when I was a student in 1973, what a great masterpiece of Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice. It's ageless. Hope every generation to come can enjoy this. Long live rocknroll !!!!
Wow, just wow... I searched for over 6 years for this... I thought nobody had recorded the full score... I'm crying now, 2 years after I gave up... drew sarich fired my heart when I was just 15.
This is the ONLY version of this show with REAL singers, who happen to be great actors too. GREAT musical direction. Stage too. All the very best. I would like to see a HD version of this.
the best version ever. There fit all together, amazing Choreo, fantastic actors (esp. Judas, Pon.Pil., Jesus, Herodes), super musicans, the stage very very great. This version is the best I have had seen from Andrew L. Webber Musicals.
No, this is a bad version. Badly sung and badly played. Only the actor playing Pilate is really good. The singer of Jesus ruined “Gethsemane”; he couldn't reach the high notes. The 2012 JCS Arena Tour was impressive. Ben Forster as Jesus and Tim Minchin as Judas - simply incredible! Ben Forster sang the best “Gethsemane” I’ve ever heard! This is what “Gethsemane” must sound like: ua-cam.com/video/ZaUtSE2yWc8/v-deo.html

Even with an average-not-great Jesus, this is far and beyond my favorite production - the staging and chorus are amazing, and DREW SARICH AS JUDAS!!! He takes the whole thing from “great” to “transcendent”. Also just aesthetically my favorite treatment of “Superstar” the song. Just overwhelmingly wonderful.
There are a lot of people not happy with this Jesus but this production as a whole is the best ever put on stage and the ensemble is incredible that I just can't see weakness!
Well he still was I guess is the principle message here - he feels what he does is necessary (ironically for the same reason as Caiaphas "for the sake of the nation") and is chewed up with guilt after because even if it was God's will and for the greater good, he has still betrayed a friend and a good man to death.
This is the best performance of I don't know how to love him, direction, scenic design and Herod's song since Yvonne Ellimann and the original production!
Fue en 1993 que conocí y fui parte de esta extraordinaria obra teatral, la última vez que lo hice fue en el 2002. Ahora veo está versión del 2005 y me encantó. Saludos desde Perú
drew sarich’s judas on stage as a character is very different. i liked how he was very vulnerable for more of the show (this can be seen in hosanna specifically). he seems to care a lot for jesus and that’s why it’s such a contrast to see him making fun of jesus in superstar. i think he’s great as an actor, from his decision to always watch and follow jesus to his obvious vocal talent. i could literally almost sink my teeth into some of his notes. fantastic, my favorite judas ever.
yes but judas is of the mind that jesus is wrong,, and is the accuser, he is suposed to be arrogant and beligerant,,, besides he's been kind of taken over and manipulated to help manifest the end result,, so he isn't suposed to be vulneraable
im in Jesus Christ Superstar with my local theater group and I have my first practice tomorrow!!! Im so excited and I know it is gonna be awesome!!!!!!!!!!
This is the best adaptation I've seen of the production. This is the best cast. The way that use the scenery is actually really great as well as the visuals.

Wow... the removal of Jesus from the cross, timed to Webber & Rice's "John Nineteen: Forty-One" music... breathtaking. Best Adaptation since the original, for me as well.
I'm a sculptor and with my headphones on I've listened to many many Jesus Christ Superstars soundtracks on UA-cam and happy to come across this one I'm a huge fan of it and other than the original with Ted Neely and Carl Anderson this is my favorite the director and the choreographer are out of this world Judas is pray tell one of the best that I've ever seen nobody can surpass Carl Anderson but he is out of this world good great great production
This really is a brilliant performance, particularly Judas and Pilate (when he's not doing that strange straining thing). I'm not sure whether it looks good or not, but the visual representation of Pilate's Dream is certainly an interesting touch.
I love all the different versions I'm finding on UA-cam. I'm so amazed at the talented casts. This one did not disappoint. The end of this one was so intense - I was in tears. This is coming from someone who saw it live when it first went on tour with the original cast.

Thank you so much! I've seen parts, but never the full version of this production. I always watched the individual clips for Drew Sarich's Judas, but due to this full version, I've discovered how brilliant Rob Fowler's Pilate is. Much appreciated!
The Wizard highly recommends this Filmed Stage Version , a surprisingly incredible Chorus and the dancers are really good too.If you love this Musical as I do ,I still sing along to it just like when it first came out in the early 70's on any version, then enjoy this if you got a couple of hours to load up sing along !!!!!
Wow - just watched "Heaven on their Minds" - probably the best sung/most effective staged version I've seen... now I have to watch the rest of this :) Thanks for posting
After years of listening to this version, I learned to really appreciate the actor playing Jesus. He is great really and is a great partner to Drew's Judas. Also oh God, but the Orchestra and Assemble are top-notch as well. Just. The Austrians did an amazing job with this version and interpretation. Definitely one of my all-time favorites.
One of the best productions I've ever seen I love the fact that they did not do it as an anachronism. It seems everybody does it that way. This was obviously done by mature ,talented professionals. Judas was absolutely explosive! Just incredible.
This was produced in Austria, but no worries. Everything’s in English. This is such an energetic rendition of Jesus Christ’s last week. I’ve watched it several times already. I must say, though, for those of us well aware of the actual story, there are some major discrepancies and omissions. They become somewhat overshadowed by the energy, the fantastic singing, the choreography, and I have to say, the acting, which exceeds superb. A shout out to the stage crew for the unbelievable stage sets and the Special Surprises you created for your unsuspecting audiences. Nine and a half stars out of ten !! There are stand out performances, and I hadn’t expected such brilliant settings, and on point singing. Brilliant, ladies and gentlemen! You’ve certainly done yourselves proud!! God bless!
Every Easter since 2013 I come here to enjoy this superb cast with great mention to Drew Amazing Drew!!!! I love you in anything you do and this performance was brilliant beyond words❤🙏 Drew I grew up in St.Louis myself and lived not too far from Webster Consv. did summer theatre at Siue and Muny ... unfortunately our paths did not cross in StLouis or New York but saw you in Vegas. I'm always watching for your latest project..JCS2005 Brilliant!!!
50 years now : and every single production is amazing : ALW & TR : amazing adaptation os an ageless story : saw it first when I was a 10 yold. boy : loved it ever since especially the movie done all in JERUSALÉN
Brazil has a very interesting version also.See Alirio Netto as Judas and Jesus as Igor Rickli. I love this musical, is fabulous. I really enjoyed this , the voices are perfect , and this Judas, wow !!!
Conozcan Nuestra Historia #Jesucristosuperstar
I love this version. Drew is incredible by putting the rock back in the rock opera. I just wish the lead playing Jesus was as strong as Drew at singing. (Look up Drew doing Gethsemane - he is phenomenal on that and sings with such raw emotion.) The costumes, choreography, staging, cast are great. Wish Herold was not as over the top. Is this out on DVD anywhere?
I've been looking and I've watched so many productions and this is by far the best I've seen. So many productions have the music way too loud, so hard to understand the vocals. Everything is so clear here. Just the fact that Judas and Mary are being sung differently than how I've heard at sung so many times is so wonderful and refreshing. And at first I wasn't sure about the use of the screens but as soon as the title cards started showing up it clicked for me and I loved it. This made it feel almost like more of a live movie rather than a play if that makes sense. I loved this. Bummer Jesus skipped out on that high note though. :P
So well directed, and the choreography is amazing! Wonderful choices in set, as well. Really enjoyed this interpretation of one of the most powerful and musically challenging rock operas in existence. Loved it!
I adore Drew's Jesus. He is, vocally, at the top of his game when he plays the role. But.... From an acting standpoint he just knocks Judas out of the freaking park. Oh, what a dilemma!! It's like that commercial: why not both? It would be mind exploding if someone could make a cut with him playing both parts. EDIT - 9:36 Does Drew have a twin?!
There's been a lot of renditions of JCS, but this just has a lot of stuff that I really like that the others don't. Surely nothing can master the original Neely version, but it's just something about the choreography, certain singers they picked and the whole presentation of it that is just amazing. Sarich and Herod are just amazing, exceptional singers, I cannot stop listening to them. The only problem I have is Jesus, I really hate saying this because I don't like being mean, but Jesus was just not a good choice or a good voice. Someone commented saying his acting was empty and not a good singer for JSC, I sadly have to agree with this, to be Jesus you need to have a certain power in your voice and you need to have a power in your voice to really hit the pitch of the notes, playing mighty Jesus means hitting mighty notes. Maybe he's suited for another musical, but he's not suited for this one. Honestly I think Sarich should have played Jesus, he did an amazing cover of Gethsemane and then find someone else for Judas. Other than that, this is amazing. I wish I could have been there seeing it live.
Agreed, but don't take Sarich away from Judas. In JCS Judas is kind of the main character and needs the vocal power Sarich has. But seeing the fact that he is such an amazing singer you need a voice which has the power to counter Judas' parts.
They were probably selling CDs in the lobby on the way out, if it's anything like any play I've been to. And you will never find a copy, because much like most shows I've been to, everyone will walk right past that table.
there's a cast recording of this production with drew sarich as jesus and he (expectedly) absolutely kills it. i like him as judas because he has more songs, but on the soundtrack, he nails "gethsemane" and is a million times better than this jesus.
This is just GREAT!!! No doubts,no complaints, pls no comparisons. What you see is what you get....Please be open minded...or is that Ned or Carl are going to be forever alive. Be fair....not everybody is them...but there´s a new era!!!!
I like the traditional angle to it. Great singing. Especially Judas when he sold Jesus to Caiphas. Great dramatic delivery, you feel his feeling of what he just did
ive started thinking judas is casted first because judas has to be superb :O i really like this performance, the only one ive liked besides the '73 movie
This cast really nailed the genre. I've seen a lot of productions that are incredible and full of talented people who just didn't have a rock voice. The casting directors understood the assignment and cast appropriately. Also, I've never really considered Pilate or cared about who was playing him, they're all fine to me. I now have a favorite Pilate, and it's whoever this dude is. Holy shit he blew it out of the water.
Excellent singing and acting!! Judas, Pilate and Jesus were very good. Herod was hilarious. Caiphas and his men were awesome as well.. Wonderful show.🌹
This Mary made the role her own! Tired of seeing the Yvonne Ellaman copies! I really liked her and I LOVED this production! Bravo!
What a singer and actor Judas is!
Drew Sarich
you gotta be kidding, is he a relative or something, lol

Wow, Judas really HAS AN AMAZING VOICE here! I'm so pleased to hear it!
In my opinion, Judas was really the star of this show.
That is what Weber and Rice were trying to convey, Judas' perspective.
Judas Superstar ♥
Isso é verdade. Judas é foda!!!
Felicity Gilbert It was the most coveted character to play with arguably the most memorable numbers to perform.

Emdoph HD AMEN I need Drew Sarich as Jesus and Judas and I need it now
It is always interesting to see the different ways this musical is put on the stage in different countries.
Judas *_*
Drew Sarich is the best singer on this world! He's just brilliant and his voice is out of this world!
Best could we start again. The harmonies are superb.

If he didn't betrayed Christ, Judas would've been a cool apostle.

before I even saw who played Judas here, I knew from the comments that it must have been Drew. He's incredible! I like him even better as Jesus.
This is the best performance of I don't know how to love him, direction, scenic design and Herod's song since Yvonne Ellimann and the original production!
I wish a DVD of this outstanding performance!!!
I loved the Overture. It is the only version of this rock opera in which I've seen Jesus dance!
This Jesus is a very good dancer but a lousy singer imo...

If there’s a thing that Austria can do, it’s delivering in music. This country has such a tradition when it comes to arts and culture. 😍

I quite like him too. The only thing that bugs me is his lack of falsetto range (which unfortunately, is needed to play Jesus)
I really like him
I think he was very expressive. I can forgive the lack of tenor range
Pilate and Judas, really amazing!
Outstanding! Excellent cast, fabulous production.
I think it is the best production I've ever scene...And I've done the show 4 times.
Drew!! What can I say that I haven't said before, you and Serkan Kaya are destined to be my favourites in the German musical world 🥰
54:07 I can't imagine how hard it must have been for Drew to see someone sing Gethsemane like this - knowing that he could do it SO MUCH better.
Loved this version of Herod's Song. Totally OTT lol
EDIT: OMG, when they do those moves coming forward then all get into the stance... Brilliant!!
El intérprete de Jesús se quedo corto, Judas ... bravo, que voz, María Magdalena también tiene una voz bella. En general muy buena producción, la música y los coros fabulosos, realmente me gusto.
i love it!!! Jesus was played great!!!. Judas was amazing!!!. Superb in general!!!
A fantastic production, all the acters are professionals absolutely
Hermoso que lindo es amar el arte , el teatro y la música un ejemplo para nuestra comunidad que seguimos en este camino.
Loved it!
One on the bests productions I have seen is J.C.S Voices, music, acting amazing.
I think this is the best version
Alborotados Serie THIS!
One of the best stage productions I've seen.
Or if Drew played both parts. OMG TOO MUCH
EPrimeify
Well, Neely wasnt original, Ian Gillian was. But your point still stands
Una gran puesta en escena...grandes actores, cantantes y bailarines,,,,excelente representación de JCS
Excelente presentación, música e interpretación!!
I think there’s a point where some of y’all admit that you just want to see every Jesus as just a Ted Neeley impersonation.
I prefer a classical voice rather than pop, actually. I think Glen Carter and Steve Balsamo set the bar
Paul Nolan Is pretty good, and Aaron Lavigne of the current US your (thigh on hold due to covid)
I don't like Ted Neeley as Jesus. I think Steve Balsamo is the best.
Most epic King Herod ever. I have watched his part 3 times
Okay, this needs to be a CD. Because I cannot find a Judas to compare to Drew and just… I don't know. I need Drew Sarich's Judas like I need air.
Riley Morgan I think there is a CD or DVD. I asked a three cast members and one gave me info I misplaced it and lost contact.
beatifull work !!!
Congratulation !!!!!
Absolutely WONDER-FULL!!! An amazing musical interpretation and stage performance...
Thank you very much for sharing it with the rest of the world...
OBSESSED WITH THE CHOREOGRAPHY DURING THE LASHES
This is just GREAT!!! No doubts,no complaints, pls no comparisons. What you see is what you get....Please be open minded...or is that Ned or Carl are going to be forever alive. Be fair....not everybody is them...but there´s a new era!!!!
I really liked Drew Sarich - he plays Judas very well!Amazing king Herod! Great number!
This version is amazing. Its so campy while nailing the arena rock aspects... and the updated electric guitar doesn't sound corny on the licks.
What a great production!
I like the traditional angle to it. Great singing. Especially Judas when he sold Jesus to Caiphas. Great dramatic delivery, you feel his feeling of what he just did
Good morning from Singapore! I hope you'd have a beautiful week =)
ive started thinking judas is casted first because judas has to be superb :O i really like this performance, the only one ive liked besides the '73 movie
This is the Best jesuschrist Superstar on stage
I'm thinking of all you guys in the cast today Easter 2020❤
Special love to:
Drew❤❤
Kudra❤
Ivo❤
I just love the movie JCS filmed around 1975 with Ted Neely Carl Anderson and Yvonne Elliman That has been the best and only one for me
This cast really nailed the genre.
