Congratulations on the bid run. Thanks for the ride along. I haven't been on that highway in years it's really pretty in north west Arkansas. Love your videos 👍
Congrats on the bid run ! I applied to the Regional OTR position in CT. I have an interview Wednesday, I’m excited. Your videos are very helpful! Thank you.
This is probably stuff you've already thought of but a few things us night guys that are home daily need to think about.... The family has to understand when your sleeping during the day you need to actually sleep. Especially with your commute to the terminal the family needs to leave u alone and not have a band concert across the hall when your sleeping. If light effects your sleep like it does me we put hotel type drapes on the bedroom windows so it's like night time in there when it's sunny out. If your wound up and can't get to sleep 10-20mg of melatonin works great for me.
Thanks for those tips! I didn’t know about the melatonin, I’ll have to pick some up just in case. Our bedroom is fairly dark, kids will be at school, so I think I’ll be alright with that scenario. Wife works, too. Ok basically home alone🤣
Look bro 😎. Regional, OTR, doesn’t matter. You are a fog drivin madman! A super safe steering wheel holder. You’re like a road ninja 🥷. Be safe brother, I’m back on days this week and in the land of the living 😂
🤣 you’re too funny! Welcome back to the day shift. I ended up rotating my clock forward, rather than backward, this week. Starting at 2 instead of 10😎😎😎 I like this sunshine
Don't u just love those old columbia trucks...simple ...congrats on your new venture being home everyday...just stay out till Friday once u have the time.
I am thinking about going to ABF or UPS. I want only regional Xtra Board stuff. I hated sleepers!! And no city stuff. But I thought regional meant you go to a destination one day and come back home the next. But they keep sending you other places just like sleepers? So no normal social life.
@@FreightHauler87 What do you eat when you are bouncing from destination to destination on the Xtra Board? Can you eat healthy? Do you have time to workout?
@@FreightHauler87 I only did 2 years with YRC and constantly got forced onto sleepers and I used to grab like 2 bags of BBQ chips and that was all I ate. I gained so much weight and felt disgusting. I don't want to go back to that. I am really into working out and eating healthy everyday but you can't really meal prep and take a fridge with you in those day cabs. So I was wondering what most guys do?
Yes, that is something to be considered. I think I might do that, and just use a personal day for Friday... it will make up for some of the pay I won’t be getting
Otr here getting jerked around with detention and empty miles pay had a truckers report from Estes driver provide this link...over 1yr safe otr reefer...love to drive and like this idea of terminal to terminal so your not worried about where you're going to park for the night? Do they offer sleepers or you sleep in a hotel? Bid runs? You select your lanes or isn't dispatch still running drivers?can you stay out longer? I run recaps otr and run 3 months straight sometimes 1.5 months...hear good things about Estes how's the terminal out of Jax fl?
Thanks for coming by, and no sleeping in the truck or worrying where you will park. Drop the load off at the terminal and bobtail to a hotel. Some of the new guys end up in old team trucks, but usually get a daycab from day one. We have bid runs, but new guys usually don’t get one right away. Some do after a few months, and it takes some guys a couple years to get one. It’s the number of drivers with seniority and the number of available bid runs that will determine that. Dispatch runs the road drivers wherever they’re needed, but you’re usually not more than a two-day dispatch from home. If you stay out for weeks at a time, you’ll be able to get a reset in a motel each week. Every time I’ve stayed out for a few weeks, my reset was up before I was able to recap any hours. I’m not sure how it is working out of the Jacksonville terminal, but I never had an issue going there. Give them a call
I lived in Jonesboro and Little Rock a long, long time ago. I went back about 16 years ago looking to move back and just couldn't do it, the roads were crap and everything was more expensive than where I was living, I know you don't really think about it if you've been living there all your life but Arkansas is a little tax heavy, maybe things have changed, but I don't know what it's like now. I do know that when I ate at a restaurant the tax was 11% plus some other tax and I was like WTF is that about!!! But it is a nice place to live depending on where you are.
Well, I haven’t really paid any attention to that. I think I paid about $5k in state taxes last year, and that was with a six-figure job. So I’m impressed. Now, Jonesboro - no thanks. West Memphis, Earl, Parkin, Paragould, all of that is entirely too close to Memphis😂 and just about anyplace that’s too close to Memphis, is abandoned... or so it seems
@@FreightHauler87 Going for one of those LH jobs around here or I'll relocate if necessary I've got offers and my phone is blowing up with more,I've got an interview coming up with one of the major LTL co's so fingers crossed.
I’m not sure about that. I’ve asked recruiting and my terminal manager if Estes will hire someone with a CDL, without experience. The answer I keep getting is a confused “no”.

Texas CDL IS $60 for five years and $76.50 for back ground check but Averitt reimburses me for the back ground check.
