There's been a lot of buzz about the movie, and they just had a screening the other night. A bunch of UA-cam critics are raving about it, saying it’s epic and super entertaining. It might not top the first one, but it’s still a solid follow-up and one of Ridley Scott’s best in years!
I think the second part of the movie Gladiator will need a third part to show the virtue that we missed in the first part. I hope it will be very soon.

They built the real sets, they are not just "fighting" in front of a green screen. The animals have to be CGI for obvious reasons. They look good IMO. It could be MCU level of CGI mess including CGI costumes, and fortunately it´s not.
I just watched it, I just couldn't help myself comparing to the first gladiator, no matter how many times I watched G1, it always gave me goosebumps, G2 was just average😢
Since when is lucious maximus's son? Pretty sure in the first they mentioned they each had sons that were the same age and hinted that it had been a long time since they'd been together.
I love Pedro, but him here seems to me like a horrible idea, imo. We don't need to put him in every movie... Next, they'll have him in the next Debbie Does Dallas sequel, like they did with Samuel L Jackson, directed by Brian Griffin.

I was skeptical of this film because let’s face it. Ridley Scott has had a horrendous run of movie making. But the reviews have been really good and the critics have been raving about it. So got my tickets booked to see it. Doubt it will be as good as the original but to tell you the truth I can’t remember the last time it was worth going to to see a movie at the pictures because they have been terrible. Maybe Joker was the last one.
To be fair, that's how most sources depict Caracalla. It's the (comparatively) modern sources that softened the tone a bit. I don't remember much about Geta, though, other than his murder. Depending on who you ask, Caracalla was perhaps one of the most tyrannical Roman emperors, actually.
why they don't make a different story and instead they are remaking the maximus story this time with boy lucius now a grown up ? they have so many alternatives to show in caracallas' era. he murdered his brother geta just one year after they became emperors. he was a cruel emperor. he invaded persia and he was murdered by macrinus in 217 ad. they can show a lot of events happened in caracallas' time.
Because that wouldn't be a sequel to the Gladiator. It's that simple. It's not like this was set up as a franchise where they visit different phases of Roman history. The Gladiator was a stand alone movie and didn't require a sequel, but if you are going to make one, you're pretty much obligated to create a similar story as otherwise it wouldn't make much sense calling it a Gladiator movie.
@paulfienga9466 i liked it. The... Last duel... Fight choreography was awesome... But whole movie as a package was somewhat lacking. It wasn't a "Ridley Scott epic" on par with Gladiator, Black Hawk, Bladerunner. Ive never felt the itch to re-watch it other than once in theatre and once on home release.
Perhaps because he is playing his son and they are following basically the same story from the last movie and perhaps because it's the same director from the last movie. Why can't you people stop complaining?
What's the significance of Denzil's character? Is he portraying Septimius Severus, the Roman general who became Emperor? He was around the time of Caracalla and Geta after all as History suggests...🤔
‘Gladiator’ is unmatched. Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius character is a role model for young men. This is totally an unnecessary sequence, in my opinion. By the way, the two trailers give up the whole plot.

just watched it and while it is ok if you don;t care about original. It lacks storytelling, the depth and plot holes are massive.
The instrumental Gladiator soundtrack fits the trailer much better than the modern music in the first one.

In my opinion Gladiator 1 was more brilliant then Gladiator 2. Also the actors. Some of them are legends, but not in such movie ,with such roles.
