In this video, I run through finding multiple values in a game (e.g., health, coins, lives, etc.). I run into a snag when trying to find one of the values, and it was a prime scenario to show you how much digging is sometimes required to find the value you're looking for.

Hey man i want to control the spawning of enemies in a game can you point me in the right direction?
In case anyone's interested, the reason for the Ms being "weird" is because they're stored as 2 nibbles (4 bits) instead of 1 byte.
4 bits for each digit. 9 is 1001 binary, so to make both digits 9, the value needs to be 10011001 (Or 0x99 hex / 153 decimal).
For 72, the byte needs to be 01110010 binary (or 0x72 hex / 114 decimal).

Yea I noticed that when he punched in 153 for 99, it clicked.
So the formula is 9 * 16^1 + 9 * 1
So the game managed ti make the value be displayed lile hex but eith decimal?

Hey man, I know this video is pretty old, but I just wanted to thank you for posting this video series. I tried to imply some of your techniques into offline survival mode in Modern Warfare 3, which got insane very quickly. Also: for anyone who wants to hack online games: if it is a popular AAA game, you WILL get banned, no doubt about it, but if it is a crappy flash game, then by all means have fun with it, as long as you aren't harming anyone. :)

Hey, Joseph. I'll be talking about this very thing in my next video (posting it this week) regarding pointer scanning. It's a complex issue initially (it certainly was for me), but I think I've come up with some good analogies to help people understand it more. Overall, it's more work, but once you find what's called the "base address," you won't have to search for it again (unless a patch/update/DLC is release, which means you'll have to do the process again). Anyway, more on this soon!

The 17 is a display code you wanna find the internal code that writes to the display code. Possibly it's encrypted so will look like a very large value
with these old nintendo games, once you find your health value,go into the memory viewer and you might be able to find some other values close by like the m's. He has a video on this!

@OverlordManny I was just going to post something similar to that. However, it's not really treating it or interpreting it is a "hexadecimal" value. It's getting the value for each decimal digit from 4 bit chunks (similar to the way we represent hexadecimal). It doesn't use, or expect at least, A (1010), B, ..., F. 153 = 10011001 or if you split it in half 1001 = 9, 1001 = 9. Just wanted to clear that up; the way you said the game read directly from the hex was misleading. More than likely there's nothing in the code that really understands the concept of a hexadecimal numerical system. that's just something we use to condense how we read the 1s and 0s under the hood. Not really sure why they would do it this way unless there's a 4 bit ALU in this system.

yeah 153 in hex calculator is 99. take a value that seems out of place but corresponds to the value your looking for. type the number then convert it to hex. then it will work out. great video!
Not even just that. sometimes games would just make you do calculation to find the values. Reminded me of most games in RPGM VX Ace engine. To find the value you'd have to double it and plus one. So if you have like 5 potions, the one you'd scan would be 5x2+1.

I have a question o proposal to make you. I want to learn a method to unlock characters in fight games or another that it´s locked, but I not find any video that explain this, in the same way I not find any video that explain how to get costumes that you get it when your finish your game. I try make it by myself but my knowlegdges aren´t enough, cause that if you can make a video, say me how to make it or tell me in what videos of yours explains this I help me a lot.

How to get value that you can't change anymore in the game, and you are stuck with for example leftover research points, you can't gain, you can't spend anymore, because the research costs either more, or there is none to gain anymore. So how to find the value related to those points if you get over 100k results and finding the value by unchanged value is way too long and does not changes most of them anyway? am I stuck in this situation and I have to pick previous save game back when I had more points with which I could research something in order to use decreased value?
does the value type help with finding perk points? for example I'm playing this game called Dex. I've beaten it without cheats and now I want to be a god in the game. I've tried finding perk points through cheat engine but was having a hard time doing so. so do I just scan through all types?

Pudding Pop? I'm not looking for moves or lives as these can't be changed due to the games cheat detection, but you are able to change the values of the specific goals needed to pass a level. The only one I can't do is the chocolate goals. Can you help me out?

you talk about not knowing what the value calculations are, it there a tool that can decipher them? I used it on an emulator game where one value targeted several of my character attributes but the numbers didn't make much more sense than they did when you were solving for 99 Ms (only my example has about 8 numbers as the value for two attributes that have a max of two digits).
im not sure what i can do in my situation or if i can do anything at all. im trying to chang ethe value of currency in this game i have, i found it but every time i changed it, it changes back to the original value. its the only one related to the game currency that i know of and the only way to get it to even glitch is to copy it and change all the values.

I did encounter some unchangeable values on items, they had a pattern like exp. 7 1000 7 1000 7 1000 could you break away them ?
When I try to find the health value a float and a double appear.
But when I try to modify or freeze nothing happens or the game crashes, where am I missing?
Just try to scan unknow initial value, all (byte, 4b, 8b, float, double, etc), you'll get so much info(on the game in mentioning down here) xD!!~

When I tried to locate the ENERGY representation of predators energy bar, it was on a green color, meaning, it something that doesnt move from its address/location, by mistake i did some code injection there... and.... it was saved.. i mean... i was literally, me just modifiying the game instantly and permanently, so, the game crashed and it wouldn't open, I had to redownload the game, I took precautions so i dont need to redownload the game if anything like that happens. #justsharing

I'm trying to scan driver parallel lines but i cant find the speedo meter miles. The HP hacking has some problems, it keeps changing to the normal. the assembly instruction that writes to the address says: " movss [ecx], xmm0 ", but if i look at the floating point i will get the current health not the maximum that i can archive. What do i do now ??

Hey there, im trying to find the address to decide whether noclip is enabled or not. most games have a feature called noclip due to develpmental reasons. a lot of cheaters seem to be able to enable that, but i haven't the slightest clue how i would find the address. its usually either kept as 0 or 1 for enabled or disabled. anybody know where i would start? the value would never change, and there are a LOT of 1 and 0 values, and im not even sure it would necessarily be a 0 or 1
Yesterday value changes back, changes to red.. I have used CE on the Tribez game for like 2 years and now all the sudden it won't stay when I change it, it goes back to the original number and goes red..

I have a Question Stephen. Im playing Dead space 3 and I make it so my guns have a SHITLOAD of ammo lol. but when i die, everything changes and i have to find my ammo all over again. Is there anyway for me to find it faster?
Not helpful for my issue, I don't have 34957634057 turns to find the health bar on my unit, it dies in 2-3 hits and all new units made have different addresses. I cannot go save and load from that location, and there are no units that can take more than 2-3 hits. How can I find this unit's health bar? There is also no indicator in numbers how much health it has left, so it's an unknown initial value, and can only be found in Float.

for example. You have 4 gold, next turn u have 8 gold, that mean u increase 4 gold per turn. So how to hack increase 99999 gold per turn?
For a different game, I searched for unknown value on 'all' and got about 470 million results, I then scanned for unchanged values and the number somehow rose to about a billion.

I have a question. So I want to hack money in the game im playing. In the "process list" there are 4 game processes. Anyway, i choose one and i type initial money value "1000" in first scan, then i spend money and type new value in next scan but it says 0 results. Then i change process to other out of 4 game processes. I type value of the money i have left in each and every process after wasting the money and still after next scan there are 0 results with the new value. Can anyone help?
