+Nicole Jackson What a nice thing to say! 😍😍😍 Thank you so much for your sweet words. You have blessed us with your loving soul. Peace to you and thank you for watching!😇😇😇
You're very welcome :) I can't wait to grow potatoes like you did in containers next spring. I too live in the city and vegetable prices in Canada can be terribly high. I can't wait to get started!
An old Aussie has joined, thanks to your vids. I've hated gardening and gardens, but now, after watching you, I got this itch in my thumbs that wouldn't go away. So, now I'm building an elevated bed with enthusiasm, and a first time interest, in home grown vegies. And I'm 80!
I've just come across your channel. It all started with a search on growing strawberries. I'm so glad your channel showed up because I've been watching your videos back to back for at least 30 min. LOL I'm a gardener, but I love learning new things from others. Thank you all so much for deciding to do videos and sharing what God has shown you with us. Take care and God bless you both! :-D
+Glamour Guru So glad God led you to our little channel!!! Thank you so much for watching and subscribing, we wish the best for you on your strawberries. Have a blessed day new friend 😇
+Glamour Guru Thank you so much for watching and subscribing!! Welcome to the family ❤️❤️🐶. Best of luck to you this year with your strawberries and all of your garden. Have a peaceful week my new friend👍
I purchased wood last year to make a raised bed, but I felt overwhelmed once it was time to make it, so I put it up in my shed. After watching your video, I'm more than confident I can build it on my own, so I have pulled out the wood from my shed. Thank you so much for your amazing channel and sharing your knowledge.
+Charlene Fitzgerald So glad you are part of our family!! It never ends, soon as you think you are done you get another idea. I have one little project left that I need to do for the garden then I am taking a break from building things and just enjoy gardening and making videos😀
hey Hollis I can't do gardening on the ground so I built them up waist high so I don't have too bend down I do about every tho g you do I. the ground its a wonderful way too keep active I'm 74 i love your videos keep it up ok love you
Asking my son to build these for me. Would love to have same kind of instruction on making a grow table. Love your methods and your Godly attitudes. You and your wife. Ava
For those worrying about using pressure-treated lumber with growing veggies, you can staple poly cloth all around the box (not the bottom) to help keep any possible chemicals away from the plants. It's great for keeping moisture away from the wood as well for even more longevity.
To save money…go to Lowes or Home Depot and go to the aisle that has bagged cement mix and you can find vinyl boxes for mixing the cement in. They come in 6”, 8” and I can’t remember if they come deeper or not. Anyway, after you purchase the depth you need for your garden, before planting, drill holes in the bottom in random places for drainage. Then add newspapers or whatever over the bottom and fill with your planting mixture. There are a lot of things you can grow in a 6-8” depth container. Before my raised bed was built, I used these for herbs, strawberries, leaf lettuce. The boxes were resting on pretty much just a frame. We also made a PVC frame over the boxes for netting so the birds would not eat up all the strawberries. Another tip, buy a soaker hose and wind it in between your new plants. Then you can water in a very short time, with the water going directly to the roots. Be careful not to overwater. I used the boxes for years for my summer garden, and I still have them. They will last a very long time.
So glad I came across this video. It was very informative! My husband and I just purchased a house with a flat acre and I was so excited to start gardening but had no clue where to start. I will have to show my dad this video so we can make a bed and look up the zone in VA that we live in. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
I tried box bed gardening. 4 x 4, and 4 x 8. Overall it worked well. Control of the soil - low weed infestation - set pathways - fairly easy harvest. I need to suggest, however, that older gardeners will have a greater appreciation of 2 foot widths. That's what I learned that summer.
Thank you so much for explaining how wide the beds should be. I was not sure what size I should make them. Also knowing the reason for not stepping inside the beds. Thanks.
Thank you so much. I enjoy working in my yard and for years ive been attempting to make a raised bed now at 71yrs i know I can, you've made it easy for me.
Clever adding the 4x4's in the corners. Great idea. Yes, you are correct in that the wood will split or bow as time goes by. One thing I would say is be sure to use EXTERIOR grade screws so they do not rust.
Ralph and I are an older couple...we love you both...love how you make this so special... GOD is awesome... we plant and water and HE gives the growth... love the techniques HE has given you for wonderful results... We are watching for your Florida garden too...
Thank y’all for loving us! We love you too❤️❤️❤️. Working hard trying to get the new homestead up and running. We should be able to start releasing new Florida videos next April 👍
I just learn so much I garden this year for my very first time mostly container but a friend built me nice wood container issue is wasn't deep enough and my okra well let's just say slim picking lord has blessed me with some beautiful zucchini but that plant gone crazy growing out of wood bench and my crooked neck squash I've gotten one sguash so preparing for fall crop and bigger garden thanks for info it's such blessing
I have watched a lot of gardening videos on youtube and this is the BEST CHANNEL there is! I just love watching and learning from you two. You are knowledgeable and down to earth and make gardening fun and easy. Lots of love to you and God bless you!

+BeAmbitiousNotContent Raised beds and containers are the way to go. The older I get the more I drift toward raised beds and containers. Thank you so much for watching. Have a peaceful week ❤️❤️🐶
I love these! I am slowly getting rid of my front lawn and turning it into garden. back yard is too shady and some of these boxes would look really nice. right now I have an intentionally messy foundation planting that is soon to be registered as a monarch habitat, the boxes would provide the nice tended look that the neighbors would prefer. win-win.
I've just found you on youtube and I'm so pleased, all the information I need to grow my food also make raised beds which I intend doing this spring is there for me to follow, , I'm 74 years old and this is the first time I'm taking this seriously because I have grown a couple of things as a young woman, but your video's have totally inspired me,, I live in the UK so our weather is different but I'm sure I can do it,, thank you so much and I'll keep watching
I finished doing 50 feet of the grow bucket holders thank you so much your video was a big help how to cut corners with four by fours but it came out OK
I am enjoying your videos so much. It is January now and I am getting so anxious to start planting after I watch your videos. I am wondering ,since your move to Fla. if your gardening technique will change or vegetables. God Bless !
I live in Detroit and I really wanted to try to have a couple of raised beds this year, but with the costs to get everything I can't afford it. I do appreciate the videos though and I learned so much. Do you have any suggestions on how to keep unwanted "things" out of the garden since I won't have a wooden border?
Hi Hollis and Nancy, How is Florida treating you? Hope all is well, happy and safe. I built my beds 24 high and were in Tucson Az. Injuried my legs while in the US Navy. I love to garden and the raised beds allow me to still enjoy gardening. Best Wishes
We love it here!! Lots of work bringing the new homestead to life. So glad the raised beds are good for you. I also love raised grow tables for containers. So easy on my back! Thank you for your service to our great country. Peace to you
Thank you so much for all those tips! Living in New England, I really appreciate that you pointed out the above ground option will give me a longer growing season then planting directly in the ground, which, I hadn’t thought of! You’re such a good teacher. All your detailed tips are terrific for someone who’s just starting out. Thank you again, have a lovely day!
Really good information in this, Hollis! Thank you. I believe your design will solve a number of problems for me, such as minimizing the amount of pressure treated wood in the bed, and still having a design that can help me garden in my gently sloping back yard. I'll try to remember to let you know how it turns out. God bless.
+Kimberly Blevins Thank you so much for watching Kimberly. The raised beds are a great solution for sloping yards. Very easy to install and level out👍👍👍👍
Hollis i hear that you leaving your homestead is it true buddy i pray to god we are not going to lose you man i've only just found you beautiful people god bless you Ed
+Edwin Thompson Yes we are moving to a little more of a rural homestead in Florida at the end of the summer. No worries on the videos. We will continue with our channel in fact even more so. The garden complex will be expanded far greater than what we have now in Virginia. We will also have chickens, turkeys, quail and rabbits. I think you will like the new homestead and new videos👍
hi hollis i have a raised beds this my sound crazy but they are 3ft high and all are lined with old disused compost bag cheaper that way. you see Hollis i suffer with knee problems i've had both my knee joints replaced i cannot kneel at all Surgeon said no kneeling ! or you'll be back for further surgery so come winter we go down to Arizona to my wife Pauline`s cousin they live near to Tombstone on the edge of the desert does the old knees a power of good Hollis some days in the cold i go through hell with the pain but must go on with gods help and my Pauline your videos too Hollis you and Nancy are sent from heaven Ed
+Edwin Thompson It is not crazy at all Ed. Many folks have raised beds 3 feet tall for similar reasons. No kneeling and no bending the back. Not crazy......it's genius!
Hi Hollis & Nancy's Homestead, HD How to Build a Raised Garden Bed for under 30 Dollars - Subscription Free was great I'm looking forward to seeing your next one. Thanks again Rob Summers
Sweet friends, please come visit us when you come down to Florida! My kids and I would LOVE to have lunch with y'all. Also, if you could, please include my husband in your heartfelt prayers. He is very ill and we could use all the prayers possible. Have a blessed Sunday and we do look forward to meeting you someday!
Thank you! This is us, so you don't think we're a bunch of crazies Lol (ok, maybe a little crazy😛).youtube.com We have 5 kids, our first grandbaby due in 2 weeks, almost 200 acres with cows, chickens, rabbits, quail, turkey, ducks, and pigs. Trying to become around 80% self-sufficient. Hi Hollis & Nancy! I just love your videos, & especially how you thank God & give Him all the glory! I have been healed of colon cancer 2 years - thank You, Jesus! I didn't do a garden this year because since I was sick so many things have gone into disrepair around here, & I want catching up, so something had to give. My garden is full of weeds taller than me now! 😣 I think I'm going to spray them with green gobbler vinegar & burn them off once they are dried & then till it in before winter. Does that sound OK? I'm currently watching you build raised beds because here in NH we grow rocks, & I've tried both earth & raised... I think I'm going to build some raised around the earth to have the best of both & my good soil in the middle won't wash away in the heavy rain :) I'm so thankful you share your knowledge & experience with others. May the Lord bless you both richly in all ways ❤️
Just a thought when building with wood for an ex cabinet maker. Use tightbond wood glue between your pieces of wood. The only thing the screws are for then is to hold it together while it dries. the glue bonds tight often tighter than the natural fibers of the board. then you wont have to worry about it falling apart as fast.
I dont know. Gardening is something new to me. Woodworking is not. I dont believe titebond is toxic. the titebond III is rated for outdoor so it shouldnt break down. I dont even know where to look to find out if the soil could absorb the chemicals.
I agree the corners should be attached to a meatier piece of wood as the in-between. The other way you described as bad is true, the ends are where the wood will get weak and rot years earlier than the rest, so they won't get the value out of the wood, and will have to re-do almost right away.
My husband built me a raised bed some years ago. He used 1” x 6” pressure treated boards for the sides and bottom. For the corners, he used 4” x 4” pressure treated posts. Your corners and ours are pretty much made the same way. Leaving the corner posts’ tops uncovered was a really bad idea. All 4 corners posts have rotted at the tops. Now I realize what we should have done. We are getting ready to replace all 4 corner posts and this time we are buying plastic caps for them. If we were more experienced at building, we would have caught our mistake. We are getting ready to cut new posts and this time we will put a plastic cap on each one at a cost of only $2.38 each. Also, I stained our raised bed and that part is holding up real well. He made my bed counter height because bending down is a big deal as I get older. I love your mix for the plants. Happy gardening!
YOU NEVER USE ANY PRESSURE TREATED WOOD IN A GARDEN! THERE ARE CHEMICALS IN PRESSURE TREATED WOOD THAT WILL END UP IN YOUR SOIL WHICH IS WHERE YOUR FOOD IS!
i'm tilling up my first garden tomorrow, thanks to ya'll. ive already got some steaks in the ground where it's gonna be. it's gonna be pretty big too. I've already got 4 tomatoe plants that i've repotted and i'm pretty sure their the same kind as you have,bb. I also want to do the cucumber tressils, but not really sure what else yet, oh yea, okra.. ya'll sure have helped me out a lot, thanks, i'll keep ya posted and probably be asking ya lots of questions,, hope that's cool. jake my pup will be helping too i;m sure...lol
it may be a little late to ask this since i just tilled up a big o spot out back for my garden, but am i doing all this at the wrong time? what crops would you recommend for someone whos wanting to plant this time of the year? I'm in south ms so it's a lot warmer here.
+Jimmie Thomas By focusing on the fall you are now ahead of the curve and can really do a good job with your soil. Add plenty of peat, compost and Black Kow. Till in some leaves. Your soil will be really healthy and rich for fall. Use this time to set up your irrigation system. Build some grow tables for your containers and any other racks, processing Station, etc
I've been watching several of your videos and love everything I've seen. Can you provide an drawn outlay of your garden? Yours looks so orderly, and I also noticed you built your own tomato cages. Thanks again for such inspiring and informative videos. You've given me a renewed hope that next year's garden is going to be much better!
Hollis, after the growing season, do you use this same bed of dirt and just change up the vegetables you plant there? Looks like a very rich mix that could be used again. That's a lot of dirt. Love these videos!!
+Nancy Houston It can be used again, just change up type of vegetables you put in it each year. I plan to add a few bags of Black Kow each year to mine. Thanks for watching 😇
Hello - I used 1/3 each of black cow, peat moss, top soil in a raised bed for vegetable garden and was wondering if you think that is enough nutrients or think I should add some other fertilizer. FYI - thank you for bringing the Lord into what you do.
I use the same combination, with a half-part each of perlite and vermiculite, and I don't believe the nutrition is there. To get things going, while I'm waiting on the compost pile to do it's thing, I like to throw in some Jobe's organic fertilizer when I'm filling the containers, and if I can I add some Dr Earth's worm castings because the enzymes and bacterial profile is essential for healthy growth. Nutrients are important but it's actually the bacteria and fungi that get the nutrients into the plants, so don't forget to incorporate them! Oh, and also maybe toss in a bit of lime to balance the acidity of all peat moss. You're off to a good start! Good luck!
just sounds fantastic i shall look forward to lets see 2018 yea more work i should say Hollis my great grand Daddy he had a small holding my daddy told me they had many animals of all kinds my daddy met my mammy one day while lookin for a escaped donkey that was in 1918 he never found the donkey by the way i didn't know my grand parents they had passed away before i was born in 1941 sad i make a point of spending as much time with my son as possible i know you lost your dear son who you loved dearly you are a very brave person Hollis god love you and Nancy for ever amen Ed
I know this is an ooolld video but could you tell me how or where I can get the plans for the two beds next to the one your building now. The one with the trellis and the green buckets. And for manure I have chickens and the manure has been sitting for about 6 months. Good to go? I love your videos and I'm getting some good ideas. I'm 70 and I can still build stuff but I want to do it now while I can. I live in 6a zone in Utah and I want to grow as much as I can while I can. Thank you for all you do and teach. Jackie
When I start my raised bed that much material is too thick and soft for my small cultivator to blend. I leave it in layers and plant the first year. The second year I use my cultivator to blend it and mix it before planting.
ok I got it. next spring the layout will be btter. this year I just put seeds in and not made a layout. I should just till everything up and start over. dang.
+John Ambrogio I live in a very densely packed neighborhood. The neighbors will complain about compost so for now I use bags. When we move to our rural homestead I plan to make a nice composting area. Thanks for watching John!
+ROSE MARY LADINSKY Set the box down on the dirt where you want it and mark the four feet in the dirt. Remove the box and dig holes on the marks with post hole diggers. Place box back in the holes and level it up. All done 👍
great video Hollis, but do you think I could just put the bed on the ground? Like maybe upside down with the posts going up? I'd never be able to use the post hole digger. It would be WAY to hard for me. Any suggestions. Thx :))
+Sandra D I would suggest asking a friend or neighbor to give you a hand. The four holes will only take a few minutes. If I were your neighbor I would do it for you
Thx, I know you would. 🙂 I suppose thats the problem with being in a state alone, there is no one to ask. Well maybe next time, I'll have to move to VA, or you could live in TN. hahaha. Thx again Hollis, I just love your videos, I've watched so many of them, and they're always so helpful. Today you've taught me all about asparagus, which I knew nothing about growing. All I need now is a bed. I'm so excited to get started. By the way, you do have the cutest accent. I love when you say taters...adorable 👏
+Sandra D Thank you so much for watching Sandra!! You can ask us questions anytime you need to. We all learn from each other 👍👍👍. What accent ?????❤️❤️🐶
This is great. The only problem I have is I don't use Facebook and don't have a Facebook account. Is there any way you can get me the directions for constructing one of these?
Just curious, in your raised beds why did you not mix your Pete moss, black cow, and your miracle grow all together ? Instead of laying it in on top of each other .
how are you liking the nature's care vs regular miracle grow? I've been trying both but it's too early to see a difference. but reviews of natures care talk a lot abouts white mold forming.
Hollis, I noticed that you didn't put a screen down before you back filled the bed. I did that when I made mine and then I got moles in them. Man that was a pain to dig it all out then put the screen in and the put the soil in again. Just wondering.
These two are literally the sweetest couple I have every seen!
+Nicole Jackson
What a nice thing to say! 😍😍😍 Thank you so much for your sweet words. You have blessed us with your loving soul. Peace to you and thank you for watching!😇😇😇

Living in New England, I really appreciate that you pointed out the above ground option will give me a longer growing season then planting directly in the ground, which, I hadn’t thought of! You’re such a good teacher. All your detailed tips are terrific for someone who’s just starting out. Thank you again, have a lovely day!
Thank you so much Elizabeth ❤️. Have a peaceful week
I think you need a show on home Garden or something really useful tips I thank you both . These are great videos to learn from .

Have a good day
Thank you for making this video. I am trying to do raised garden beds. That sketch will help a lot.
+An Bala
Awesome!!! ❤️❤️❤️. Post pix on our Facebook page 👍👍
Really good information in this, Hollis! Thank you. I believe your design will solve a number of problems for me, such as minimizing the amount of pressure treated wood in the bed, and still having a design that can help me garden in my gently sloping back yard. I'll try to remember to let you know how it turns out. God bless.
+Kimberly Blevins
Thank you so much for watching Kimberly. The raised beds are a great solution for sloping yards. Very easy to install and level out👍👍👍👍
Hollis i hear that you leaving your homestead is it true buddy i pray to god we are not going to lose you man i've only just found you beautiful people god bless you Ed
+Edwin Thompson
Yes we are moving to a little more of a rural homestead in Florida at the end of the summer. No worries on the videos. We will continue with our channel in fact even more so. The garden complex will be expanded far greater than what we have now in Virginia. We will also have chickens, turkeys, quail and rabbits. I think you will like the new homestead and new videos👍
Excited to hear this. I am in Central Florida and look forward to learning how to grow in my climate!
Great information, I love what you are doing, thank you God bless you
+Mubarak A AlShamlan
Thank you so much for watching Have a blessed weekend😍
hi hollis i have a raised beds this my sound crazy but they are 3ft high and all are lined with old disused compost bag cheaper that way. you see Hollis i suffer with knee problems i've had both my knee joints replaced i cannot kneel at all Surgeon said no kneeling ! or you'll be back for further surgery so come winter we go down to Arizona to my wife Pauline`s cousin they live near to Tombstone on the edge of the desert does the old knees a power of good Hollis some days in the cold i go through hell with the pain but must go on with gods help and my Pauline your videos too Hollis you and Nancy are sent from heaven Ed
+Edwin Thompson
It is not crazy at all Ed. Many folks have raised beds 3 feet tall for similar reasons. No kneeling and no bending the back. Not crazy......it's genius!
When we had bags to dump out on the farm, we cut the side not the end. The bag dumps out quicker, easier on the arms and back. Just a suggestion.
+Ronald Geer
Thank you for the tip👍👍👍

Hello guys Question I live in Pa. and it is June 25th I was wondering is it to late to plant asparagus?
Going to do this project this weekend! Thanks for the tips
Let me know how it turns out for ya👍
Nice video thank you Hollis and Nancy
Enjoy your vids, going to use your 5 gallon bucket potato next yr
Amen! Thanks for sharing
You are so welcome
Just a thought when building with wood for an ex cabinet maker. Use tightbond wood glue between your pieces of wood. The only thing the screws are for then is to hold it together while it dries. the glue bonds tight often tighter than the natural fibers of the board. then you wont have to worry about it falling apart as fast.
+mcopeland
Thanks for the tip👍👍❤️
mcopeland is there any chance of the glue chemicals leaching into the soil?
I dont know. Gardening is something new to me. Woodworking is not. I dont believe titebond is toxic. the titebond III is rated for outdoor so it shouldnt break down. I dont even know where to look to find out if the soil could absorb the chemicals.
It is FDA approved for indirect food contact.
mcopeland Sweet! Thank you for finding out. I was going to look when I had a free minute. Those are rare. Lol!
That's how I make my raised beds but I use the cedar fence pickets sometimes for economical reasons.
+New Day Farm
Cedar is an excellent choice!! Lasts a long time👍👍
I agree the corners should be attached to a meatier piece of wood as the in-between. The other way you described as bad is true, the ends are where the wood will get weak and rot years earlier than the rest, so they won't get the value out of the wood, and will have to re-do almost right away.
👍
Not true
just found your page love it . thank you !
+D Frost
Welcome to our little channel! We have several videos in the works that will be released very soon, stay tuned! Welcome to the family😇
hey remember when I asked about the deck I did it looks great
+Michael Byrd
Would love to see some pix!! Please post some pix on our Facebook page 👍
Hollis my question is do you take the first 2 or 3 inches of dirt and grass out? How do you prep the spot before the compost mix?
Thank you so much, this really helped me.
Love your videos and planning with your garden .... thanks
+Robert barnes
Thanks for watching ❤️👍
i'm tilling up my first garden tomorrow, thanks to ya'll. ive already got some steaks in the ground where it's gonna be. it's gonna be pretty big too.
+Jimmie Thomas
Well done brother!!! Bing Bing says hello to Jake🐶🐶🐶🐶
it may be a little late to ask this since i just tilled up a big o spot out back for my garden, but am i doing all this at the wrong time? what crops would you recommend for someone whos wanting to plant this time of the year? I'm in south ms so it's a lot warmer here.
+Jimmie Thomas
I would work on cleaning and building the soil over the next couple of months and focus on a fall crop
Hollis & Nancy's Homestead that sounds like a good idea, thanks
+Jimmie Thomas
By focusing on the fall you are now ahead of the curve and can really do a good job with your soil. Add plenty of peat, compost and Black Kow. Till in some leaves. Your soil will be really healthy and rich for fall. Use this time to set up your irrigation system. Build some grow tables for your containers and any other racks, processing Station, etc
This was so helpful!
very very good tips and info. Thank you.
+Daily Dash Of Life
Thank you my friend 👍👍
I've been watching several of your videos and love everything I've seen. Can you provide an drawn outlay of your garden? Yours looks so orderly, and I also noticed you built your own tomato cages. Thanks again for such inspiring and informative videos. You've given me a renewed hope that next year's garden is going to be much better!
+greginnm
I don't have a drawing of my layout. I will do one for our new garden complex when we get to our new homestead ❤️
Awesome video
+Jaqualin Pennyman
Thank you Jaqualin! This is the same size my Daddy made for me when I was 8 years old. 😇 Sweet memories
+Hollis & Nancy's Homestead Aw awesome
Hi there
Good information
Keep on growing
Have a good day
🇺🇸👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😄🐥
Hollis, after the growing season, do you use this same bed of dirt and just change up the vegetables you plant there? Looks like a very rich mix that could be used again. That's a lot of dirt. Love these videos!!
+Nancy Houston
It can be used again, just change up type of vegetables you put in it each year.
+Edwin Thompson
Thank you for sharing Ed❤️
Good videos. Thanks for posting them. Tom in Northwest Arkansas just 4 miles south of Blue Eye Mo?

Great Video . Very informative .Thank You!

Nice Garden bed. What kind of wood did you use to make it. Thanks in advance for sharing such a wonderful garden with us.
+Nelson Castro
Pressure Treated Pine
I know this is an ooolld video but could you tell me how or where I can get the plans for the two beds next to the one your building now. The one with the trellis and the green buckets. And for manure I have chickens and the manure has been sitting for about 6 months. Good to go? I love your videos and I'm getting some good ideas. I'm 70 and I can still build stuff but I want to do it now while I can. I live in 6a zone in Utah and I want to grow as much as I can while I can. Thank you for all you do and teach. Jackie
Hollis, can you explain the layering of the peat moss, compost, then the manure instead of mixing all 3 together?
When I start my raised bed that much material is too thick and soft for my small cultivator to blend. I leave it in layers and plant the first year. The second year I use my cultivator to blend it and mix it before planting.
@@HollisNancysHomestead Thank you, yea I know what you mean. I tried that also and my cultivator just sinks in.
I thought we are in 7a in Northern Virginia. You probably live in Norfolk. God bless ✝️❤️✝️
ok I got it. next spring the layout will be btter. this year I just put seeds in and not made a layout. I should just till everything up and start over. dang.
+Reggie Anglin
I have started my garden over countless times over the years. It happens👍
Morning Hollis, was wondering if you have ever thought of making your own compost. Love all your videos.
+John Ambrogio
I live in a very densely packed neighborhood. The neighbors will complain about compost so for now I use bags. When we move to our rural homestead I plan to make a nice composting area. Thanks for watching John!
Going to try one of these but don't know how to dig corner holes. Might not be as big though thanks for the info
+ROSE MARY LADINSKY
Set the box down on the dirt where you want it and mark the four feet in the dirt.
Thx :))
+Sandra D
I would suggest asking a friend or neighbor to give you a hand.
+Sandra D
Thank you so much for watching Sandra!! You can ask us questions anytime you need to. We all learn from each other 👍👍👍. What accent ?????❤️❤️🐶
Beautiful raised bed! I'm taking all mine and moving them to the new homestead. :)
+Ann Crum (MiniHomesteadNews)
Thanks for watching! We are moving to a rural homestead in the near future. I plan to take my tables with me too. 👍
I've subscribed! Awesome videos! Please show us a fall garden preps!
+TheMsLady4Real
Working on that right now👍
This is great. The only problem I have is I don't use Facebook and don't have a Facebook account. Is there any way you can get me the directions for constructing one of these?
+Erich Diehl
These are simple enough to build without any sketches 👍
Just curious, in your raised beds why did you not mix your Pete moss, black cow, and your miracle grow all together ? Instead of laying it in on top of each other .
David Dockstade I M wonder why THIS two gardeners are I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM them in a LOTS of time
David Dockstader I please can SOMEBODY tell me why THIS gardeners have not make new VIDEOS???? LAST TIME I SAW WAS ABOUT 6 MONTH AGO
They have made a move from Virginia to Florida - getting their new homestead set up.
David Dockstader because it's an unnecessary extra step. Rain and natural elements will do the rest.
how are you liking the nature's care vs regular miracle grow? I've been trying both but it's too early to see a difference. but reviews of natures care talk a lot abouts white mold forming.
+Scott Weinstein
I have had no issues with it but I don't use it very often
Hollis, I noticed that you didn't put a screen down before you back filled the bed. I did that when I made mine and then I got moles in them. Man that was a pain to dig it all out then put the screen in and the put the soil in again. Just wondering.
