Here are 10 easy ways to refresh your kitchen ua-cam.com/video/MIzULgSZKOA/v-deo.html 😊
Hello, I hope you're safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness, prosperity, love , and peace all over the world . I would love us to be good friends in honesty and in trust so as time goes on it will bring something great for us in the future, hope you don't mind? I'm Frank Lange from Brooklyn New York, where are you from if I may ask?
About a year ago, I decluttered the "everyday" dishes that were looking shabby and put our wedding china in the kitchen cabinet to use every day. Meals feel more special now. No problems from putting it in the dishwasher. If we break a piece, it really doesn't matter because unfortunately, china is no longer valuable as it once was. Shannon, your channel has become my favorite minimalism/home channel!!
It amazes me that you always find more things to declutter.
You'll be proud of me; my adult daughter was in town this past week. We went through my storage closet and eliminated 6 boxes of stuff. She took a couple boxes of her books, childhood, high school and college. She took the globe from when she was 10 and some other memorabilia. We found 3 boxes of stuff to donate and a bag of trash. We went through the cupboard of mugs and glasses and downsized by half. She dropped off the boxes of donations on her way out of town. Yeah!
That is awesome!!! What a fun project for you to do together ❤
I really like your videos hun. After my recent divorce I've decluttered a lot and live the life of a minimalist. I've never been happier! Keep the helpful videos coming!
I did the same, got rid of all the extra baggage. 😉
@@aprilmouse8793 It's a wonderful feeling of freedom, isn't it?
@@aprilmouse8793 Me too! Including the EX. Hahaha
Your subscriber numbers are growing! So glad. You do such a realistic view and practical application of minimalism and decluttering. Your Mom is just “icing on the cake”! Such a joy to watch the two of you working and making work “play”. So fun.
Thank you so much!
Your Mom is adorable! 2 lovely ladies helping us all declutter…thank you!
Thank you so much!
I started getting rid of things years ago. I can't believe how I keep finding stuff to let go of. I enjoy your videos. They often inspire me.
Great suggestions and tips! Yesterday, I donated 2 fleece blankets and a bunch of old hand towels and kitchen towels to the animal shelter. It felt good to send them to a place where they’ll get good use! 😊
I've never felt so motivated to declutter & downsize. As I'm watching your video, I'm making a long list of everything that I'm going to donate, throw away, & have a bulk pick up scheduled. I'm about to move, so I'm going to take this opportunity to get rid of stuff more than I ever have before. Thanks for all of the motivation. ☺️
Moving is the best motivation to declutter. Especially if you are paying someone to move your stuff. 🙂
My most recent thing was rethinking my chatzkie curio. I got rid of some of the stuff that wasn’t particularly special. Also got rid a lot of other household things that just didn’t work out. I seem to have a harder time with things that don’t work out….at least at first. I feel like I need to try and “get my money’s worth” before I let it go. Then I get irked with it and finally toss it either to charity or recycle or trash. Lol. Crazy. I know.
You’re such a breath of fresh air! I’m always so motivated to declutter after watching your videos. Keep up the great work. :0)
Hi Shannon, thank you for kick starting my day!!! Just wanted to suggest...with towels that don't absorb...sometimes cottons and other fibres have a film on them from production (like a sizing) when new. If you hot wash them in laundry detergent and borax, (don't use fabric softene because its oil based), you might find they absorb better. Had happened to me a few times. A few washes later and they are fine😊. Much love.

Thank you! I love your mom’s word doc idea and your reminder to get rid of kitchen items that we are not using. P.S. Your backyard has transformed into an oasis! Great job!

Love all your tips! I'm thankful for your motivation, for both me and my kids. I recently helped my sister in law and brother in law move and between the 2 of them, they had 4 sets of china. My poor teenager daughter was picked to carefully wrap each piece when we helped them to pack! Even she realized they should have considered decluttering, what a waste of time and energy!
Side note, I love all the pretty floral dresses you wear in your videos, where did you get them?
I have been following you for quite awhile and decluttering for a future move. Well the future is sooner than we had thought and we will be moving into a much smaller home very shortly. Luckily decluttering has helped us a lot. My biggest hurdles are my books and quilting supplies. When you have room, it seems fine to keep things that you will use ‘some day’. Our new place will have a small sewing room half the size of what I now have. And I won’t have room for my 350 books either. So time to use those decluttering muscles and aggressively downsize my collections.
A few years ago I downsized dramatically. It forced me to really think about what I actually use/need vs what I like. One example is I went from a plethora of kitchen pots, pans, gadgets, to what I actually use. I just don't have the cabinet space I used to. And I don't miss a thing! Good luck with your move. 🙂
I recently got rid of almost all of my manuals because most of them are available online. It freed up so much space in my filing cabinet.
That dress looks so pretty on you Shannon ❤
I just got my husband a new beard trimmer/hair clippers as his old one broke. As soon as he unpacked the new one I rounded up everything for the old one include the charger and decluttered it...yay
Shannon, loved all these tips. I'm constantly going over and over things and each time find that this week I'm ready to let something go that just last week I thought was important.
cheers
Hello! New friend here and on yt corner! I loved this great motivation & your personality! I am on my decluttering journey in all areas of my life & this is so motivating! I look forward to seeing more of your videos! Loved the quote yes! I am decluttering my garage which is filled with home decor lol. Yes emotional things are difficult to let go of. Love the decluttering tips! TFS! Many Blessings!❤
Thank you for you and your Mom's help, love all your ideas 💞
Loved this! I can relate to all of it. Before we moved in 2016, I had to go thru yrs of the kids craft & homeschool supplies. Today, I'm going thru their school papers that I had "deemed sentimental" ...both kids from preschool-HS graduation! That's a LOT of trash bags. When you save everything thinking that it is ALL of value, nothing shows value.
Shannon, you are being wise now; you won't be age 50 doing this type of nostalgic minimizing lol
Yes to ditching the manuals; I have even stopped saving new ones for most part. Yes to no dramatic plants!!
I had just bought a new backpack purse and honestly, dumped the contents of my current unloved one out on the way home and donated it on the way home. No more saving tht extra purse for just in case.
Every day I get happier to be free of so many physical items. The calendars and kid books are another bin in the garage. Kathy has a great idea about the calendars.
If you came into our house, you would see a peaceful minimal space these days, all spurred on by moving when our oldest 🎓 graduated.
Happy Wednesday to you & yours!! It's 100 degrees F here again today🌞☀️🌡
I love to hear what you are up to and about all the simplifying you have done ! Your home sounds very calm and relaxing ❤
I need more clarity on the process of getting rid of items. I have no trouble donating clothing, purses and shoes. Older glasses, towels, cups etc. What is truly hard for me are personal gifts from family and friends. Things that I truly love! Thats what I am having difficulty getting rid of. I wish you would talk more about items that are precious to us! Thank you for your help about the calendars that I have saved! I will try to do what you did. Open us a word document!
Hey Shannon. Love your channel. Im doing the 30 day minimal game. If you can call it that. Unfortunately i picked a 31 day month.Ha. I just did day 28. It feels so good but i have sooo much that i cant tell. I think i will do this 2 x's a year. Have you ever done this challenge? The thing about it is you dont have to try and be a minimalist to do it. Its all just stuff. Just declutter your life. thx for the videos.❤
Hi Shannon ❤ loved this especially the taking off items from your to do list! I enjoy finding things in my home to donate to others. Love that dress on you ❤ have a great week ahead ❤ 🙏😘
I got inspired by this!
The joy of building and playing with the fire station will be in your family's hearts forever.
On a side note, there are a lot of echoes when you talk, maybe you can take some curtains, throws or likewise and spread it out before you record - of course depending on how much time you want to put into this! 😀
In Canada,we have an organization called Habitat For Humanity. They have a Used Furniture store and
collect items to build houses for a poor family trying to make ends meet.
You have to send in forms, and people volunteer to build homes.
Jimmy Carter is in that organization.
Sharen
We have Habitat for Humanity ReStores in the US too. I have donated tools and various other items to them. It is amazing the amount of furniture and building supplies they have available for sale.
We don’t have one near us but I know it’s a great option for donations 😊
Did hubbys shoes last night, including adding a shelf and linen closet today. So much more space!
I read that whole wheat flour only lasts 1 to 3 months once opened! If stored in the freezer it lasts about a year. I don't bake much so I get small bags of flour. White flour lasts longer but I've had to throw it out in the past too.
Great suggestion about keeping flour in freezer! I rarely need it, and come to think of it I know it's more than 3 years old!! Time for a pantry declutter 😂
Thank you for all the great tips. I love the dress you are wearing. Can you tell me where you found it? I like wearing dresses in the summertime, but have a hard time finding ones I really like.
Beautiful back yard!
We just noticed we still had 2 parts to the air fryer oven that we'd gotten rid of. 😊
I’m glad my useless knowledge of George Foreman grills came in handy. 😂
For the handtowels you mentioned: I was taught growing up, that you first have to wash new towels in the hot cycle once before you use them, otherwise they won't absorb anything.
You can get manuals for almost every product online now so I always get rid of the paper manuals straight away.
Anything paper related can be taken to a workshop or recycler to sort and bale.
Or any sensitive documents ,buy a electronic shredder and shred, paper.
Then you can properly send for recycle.
Sharen
I took your list and narrowed down the categories that I felt I need to declutter. I was surprised to find that I had 20 categories on my list! 😅
That is awesome!
All the instruction manuals are online now so it’s safe to declutter them 🎉
Great ideas, thank you! But when you be more specific when you say "got rid of"? What did you do with the unneeded china?
My mom found a friend to give it too, but if not either she would have sold it or donated it.
@@shannontorrens1 that sounds like a good idea! I may just put my set on my Facebook page and see if one of my friends could use it!
Hello! I have recently found your channel and i have really been enjoying the videos with your Mom! I am wondering about the things that are listed as “members only.” How does one become a Member?? Thanks!
Hello Kathy, the members only videos are an extra video I do each month that are usually a little longer and mostly talking. I answer member questions and my mom and I talk about different subjects. There is a charge per month of about $2. =) If you click the join button on my channel then there is more information.
How can I declutter cleaning and laundry products and bath products (shampoo, soaps, etc) that weren't loved or just didn't work out? Do they just go in the trash ? :(
Some others have suggested using them up on cleaning the loo!
@@rosywilson3076 I've used up several types of liquid soaps that way or for other cleaning tasks, such as scrubbing the shower.
You can use shampoo for washing wool clothes, for example.
I love your dress! Also, thanks for the tips!
Thank you!! 😊
Great tips, love your videos!!!
Thanks so much!
I love your channel you are a great motivator 😊❤️
Thanks.
I've just been thinking that I need to go through manuals!! 😏
I love your videos - especially those with your Mom. Every time I watch - I want to get rid of more stuff!
Have you no papers recyclings for manuals
All of that was being recycled.
Thank you
You can write down in your notes in your phone important dates as well for a faster reference. 😉
Great tips, sweetie!!!
Gifted kitchen towels...i had bought them at ...
My mom got them for me and they were from Costco so we returned them together. If that is what you are talking about?? I didn’t but them but was still able to return them. Not sure what your question is?
@@shannontorrens1 yeah, that makes sense! I went in and went thru my kitchen towels and took out all that I'm always not choosing...gone!!! I enjoy your videos.
❤
Can’t wait until your kids are teenagers oh gosh they bring buy find stuff and it never leaves it just multiples 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
One of my step sons is a true minimalist, I joke he'd get rid of his bed if he could, the other never throws anything out!
I know this will change as they get older, that is why I always say that my kids are not very minimal lol. One of my boys wants to save everything. We just do want we can . 😊
Last year I finally let go of the baby carrier. The child I bought it for is 33…😅
Haha! I know how this can happen, it's hard to keep up with decluttering all the kid stuff.
Is Simply Shannon for subscribers now? Or did it disappear completely? Does anyone know?
It is now called Wood Glueru. It is under their channel section.
@@jessicawalls5360 thank you!!
We switched it to my husband’s channel to show woodworking projects we do and home updates 😊
@@shannontorrens1 thank you!! I love your videos! They are helping me. I'm not a minimalist, but I recently had to suddenly downsize our home by 500 feet. It's been difficult, and your videos have been my go-to.
