They take it better than most adults because this is what they know. They know from the animals birth what it's purpose is and they will play around while we are processing animals and some of them take interest and want to help but most of the time they just want to play around with their friends! They see where their food comes from and the notion is not foreign to them.
These animals have amazing lives with only one bad day. Thank you for portraying true animal husbandry and how it should be done. I can't say enough good about how important what you are doing is. Peace and blessings !
With the current way that our world is slowly devolving and our food resources become unreliable, relearning lost skills such as this are a must. We've had it too easy simply going to the grocery store and purchasing meat we enjoy with no thought on how it arrived on the shelf. Thank you for both a wonderful and honest video - well done.
yup, i got into hunting during covid when meat prices soared. Me and my wife would have starved otherwise. Now i'm pretty avid about hunting and gardening and re-learning lost recipes such as pocket soup (dehydrated soup) and pemmican to preserve meat with 0 additives.
You did a good and respectful job with this video. Too may people have forgotten where food really comes from and what is sacrificed for us to live. Animals are due respect and care , and you did a great job.
I'm getting ready to do my first two dispatches this Friday. I know I'll cry like a baby the first few times because I really enjoy raising all of my animals, even the ones I try to stay emotionally distant from for this reason. Thank you for your video. It is so helpful and reassuring. I've been struggling choosing a dispatch method and this video helped me really zero in. Its the hard part of wanting to raise your own meat, but when I think of the terrible conditions the animals whose meat we get from the average grocery store live in, I know this is worth it. Happy, well cared for, and healthy animals will provide what is needed for happy healthier people.
I was raised eating what we grew in gardens and livestock. One thing I advised my children who are now in their 30's was to not name the rabbits. Needless to say they learned the hard way when it came time for Snickers, Cupcake etc to be butchered. I could tell from the looks on their faces 😮
It’s a life, even if it’s purpose in life is to be food. I think having these emotions means you’re a better owner in the long run; you care enough to give them the best death possible. Vegans might say you’re cruel and a psychopath for killing your livestock, but they have no clue how much you really care. Hope you’re doing well.
As a man who really wants to start homesteading with his wife and children I really thought watching this wouldn't be hard. Just learning how to painlessly dispatch a rabbit but I was wrong. So tough watching one of God's creatures pass but such is the way of life. Respect to you for your care of these animals and your way of life

It makes me sad because I both love animals and choose to eat meat - but at the same time it also helps me feel comfortable with knowing they were humanely butchered, cared for and I know what I am eating.

I’ve been looking for these kinds of videos because I want to homestead and I want to raise my own meat. This was not nearly as bad as I thought it might be.
Thank you! I grew up on a small farm, and raising our cows/pigs/chickens for meat was never an enjoyable, but an understood task. This was very humane.
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the tutorial. I tried to follow another site who used the hopper popper and I did not have success. The experience was horrible for the bunnies and for myself. I have several to dispatch this week and you have made me less anxious about the process!!

I'm so glad I came across your videos. It's been awhile since I helped process my neighbors rabbits and chickens. Now that I'm retired I wanted to raise some small livestock for our needs and the joy of having my little homestead. I appreciate all the information and the most humane way of dispatching them.
Thank you for sharing! I feel like you did this in a very professional & educational manner. This really was quite simple and easy. Other channels made it sound more complex and wouldn't show the process. I feel like I now have the confidence to dispatch a rabit properly. Thanks again.
I feel like the other channels wouldn't show it in fear that UA-cam would remove it. They have left mine up. I'm guessing because there is no blood and I described it for what this video is, educational content. Thanks for watching!

Was looking into a pellet gun as I wasn't sure if I could handle this but after watching you, it really has given me the courage to look into this method more as it's wayyy more controlled ❤ thank you for the amazing example and detailed instructions 😊
Imagine spending your time with gentle humans, getting to mate with all the does, no stress from food, parasites, or predators. Then one day you’re calmly taken to a strange device, feel a bit odd, then maybe a millisecond of pain then death. As someone who’s seen the brutality of nature, there is no kinder life nor fate than being dispatched by a humane farmer or hunter.
I really appreciate this....never really thought this would be of fervent necessity! It still makes me sick, but you dispatch in such a kind and matter of fact way it gives me courage and confidence that I can do this.
I have never seen this process done before. And for a quick moment, I was like where does that metal piece go? But then I let the video keep playing. And after watching I felt it was as gentle as can be. You can tell you've done it before it was smooth and effortless. Thanks for sharing.
Very good demonstration. Should help new meat rabbit raisers tremendously. As a kid we had meat rabbits. We would process about 20 at a time stretching on an angled board with club method. Either my dad and I, or 3 total people would do dispatch. We would dispatch and clean 20 in less than an hour. If I was alone this method looks more gentle and repeatable without stressing rabbit. Wonderful video.
That went so smoothly and stress free for the rabbit thank you for the demo. I definitely don't think the club method would be for me. Seems traumatic for the rabbit.
This video helped me a lot. Thank you. Not even going to scroll for any activist comments from people that happily crush a 20 pack of McNuggets without understanding where it came from. Cheers!

Wow that was quick. I'm pretty sure this is the most humane way. I doubt they feel a thing. I don't see why there are people who complain about this. Considering what the majority of animals go through that are mass processed. their terrified, they know something's going to happen. A lot of suffering goes on from raising them to dispatching them. You clearly care for your animals. Thank you for this video
I think a lot of it is due to people just being so far removed from their food supply, and parents trying to "protect" kids from knowing how the food got to their plate.
The fact you actually linked the next video when and where you say is astounding. Good work so many videos say they say they will and dont making me search it up.

Thank you for showing this!! I've been wondering how this method works! So thankful for y'all educating those interested in homesteading and self sufficiency. Your series on meat rabbits is wonderful!
Thank you for this video. I’m planning to start keeping rabbits soon and of course this part is my biggest hesitation. But when I think about the alternative sources of meat available (factory farm grocery store meat), I know it’s likely much worse for the animal, I just don’t have to see it. Your compassion and pragmatism here are reassuring that I can do this.
Thank you for demonstrating this technique. You do such a great loving caring video. So glad I watched this. I saw 1 video that upset me but this did not. Great job!
Some videos on the subject are really upsetting. It's not an easy thing but we try really hard to make it quick and painless. I am so glad you enjoyed the video even though this kind of thing is hard!
It's painful to watch a cute bunny getting dispatched but people need to watch this so whenever they are eating meat, they will have respect for the animal and will think twice before wasting food.
Honestly hard to watch but so important! I really want to get into homesteading but I truly don’t know if I can do the dispatching part. I really appreciate your frank and respectful education. I definitely will have laying hens and do gardening but I would have to really think if I could do any butchering. Thanks again
Butchering, to me, is much easier than the killing. Maybe you could get someone else to dispatch and skin them then you finish up with the actual butchering.
Thanks so much for this video and how you approached the topic. I'm really interested in raising rabbits for meat, but have been really apprehensive about this part of it. Doesn't bother me with chickens, but I have had doubts about whether I could do it with a rabbit. This really put me at ease about it. So quick and humane! Thank you!
Thanks you for freely sharing your experience and knowledge! Im considering raising meat rabbits in order to source vaulable, untreated, meats for myself and framily.
I thought that might happen! How sad. We tried quite a few methods just to see what we thought and the 22 or high powered pellet gun and hopper popper are our favorites!
I LOVE that you do this. Thank you for this video. I have a lot of respect for people that do this. I want to lol I’m a “big tough man” but, I’m not sure I could lol…I’m a wimp.
Thanks you for sharing. This is the way I have chosen. I just now got 2 baby Rex to raise and breed. Your video have help me so much on raising rabbits. Thank you.
We have talked about getting rabbits to feed our dogs. I have always wondered how you process them. Thank you for showing. This is very hard but so necessary.
Thank you for the Video, very informative! I’m getting ready to start my meat rabbits and seeing everybody’s perspective is very helpful. I think this will probably be the method that I end up using.
Thank you for this video. I have been interested in raising meat rabbits and was curious if I thought I could dispatch one. This truly appears to be a humane way of harvesting.
Hi thanks for the video and the care you show for your animals. I don’t have rabbits yet, but I plan to in the future. Does sticking their head in the tight space stress them? Do the few seconds before you dislocate the head stress them? When you begin to slowly get their body into position by beginning to stretch the body out. I know nothing about this and I have no experience, so sorry if this is a dumb question. The rabbits in the video seemed relaxed, but you’d think that the angle and position would stress them. Again, I’m just trying to learn and not criticize you or anything like that.

Thank you so much for sharing. Such an important part of the process that so many videos don't show. Very quick and looks quite achievable for a beginner.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching
Very impressed with your compassion for the animal and the audience. Very tasteful.
Thank you so much! I have more confidence in our first dispatch using the hopper popper.
That's great!! The first few are the hardest and you will get the hang of it really quickly!
Thank you for showing this!! I've been wondering how this method works! So thankful for y'all educating those interested in homesteading and self sufficiency. Your series on meat rabbits is wonderful!
Thanks so much!
Such a great informative video. Just now getting into rabbitry and looking for the most humane and decent method of dispatch. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much
I have culled using the broom method but we are going to be raising for meat and this seems much more efficient and humane
Showing how this can be done humanely is important. Learning so much here
I thought so too. I am glad you agree!♡♡
Thank you for this video. My wife and I are planning to raise meat rabbits this year. This seems the best way to dispatch them quickly.
My utmost respect for sharing this video. Thank you for showing us how to humanely do what needs to be done in order to raise our own food.❤
Thank you so much. I have trouble dispatching chickens. I know rabbits are next. This is EXACTLY what i needed. Thank you and God bless!!
I'm so glad this video was helpful!! Thanks for watching!♡
You’re very responsible and respectful, thank you!!! I learned a lot from this video. Great job!!!
Thanks so much!
Very informative and well done. Very humane and instantaneous. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video! Very informative and helpful.
I’m 15 and about to get ready to raise meat rabbits, so I really appreciate this video!
Thank you for showing this! Very clean and quick method. We are always thankful for these animals. We care for them and they care for us.
Exactly! Thanks for watching!
Awesome explanation. Thank you for being so respectful about an animal’s life. 👏👏👏. Where can I find a hopper popper?
I tried to link their site but it looks like they stopped selling them as of a few days ago!
Thank you for demonstrating this technique. You do such a great loving caring video. So glad I watched this. I saw 1 video that upset me but this did not. Great job!
Some videos on the subject are really upsetting. It's not an easy thing but we try really hard to make it quick and painless. I am so glad you enjoyed the video even though this kind of thing is hard!
god bless you for having the bravery to post this video... and for it being here to help me and my family as we get into rabbits for meat. Thank you!
You’re so welcome!!
It's painful to watch a cute bunny getting dispatched but people need to watch this so whenever they are eating meat, they will have respect for the animal and will think twice before wasting food.
Exactly. I think everyone who chooses to eat meat should be very familiar with the reality of what that means.
Holy smokes this is genius!!! Thank you for being so thorough and respectful. This was such a helpful video.
That looked so super humane, but it was still really hard to watch 😖. Really great video, I appreciate it.
Yes it isn't ever easy to watch or to do. Thanks so much
Thank you so much for this video!!!
You are so welcome!
Honestly hard to watch but so important! I really want to get into homesteading but I truly don’t know if I can do the dispatching part. I really appreciate your frank and respectful education. I definitely will have laying hens and do gardening but I would have to really think if I could do any butchering. Thanks again
You could always take the rabbits to a processor!♡
Butchering, to me, is much easier than the killing. Maybe you could get someone else to dispatch and skin them then you finish up with the actual butchering.
Thank you for doing this humanely. Many of us don't want to see this process but its necessary to feed us
Thanks so much for this video and how you approached the topic. I'm really interested in raising rabbits for meat, but have been really apprehensive about this part of it. Doesn't bother me with chickens, but I have had doubts about whether I could do it with a rabbit. This really put me at ease about it. So quick and humane! Thank you!
You're so welcome! Being apprehensive means you will take extra care making sure it's done right and that's a good thing!♡
Thanks you for freely sharing your experience and knowledge! Im considering raising meat rabbits in order to source vaulable, untreated, meats for myself and framily.
Thank you so much! Rabbits are such an amazing underutilized resource!
I've never seen or even heard of a Hopper Popper! I'm very impressed!! It looks far more humane than the 'club' method!
I totally agree. We have never attempted the club method because I just don't think I would be consistently accurate.
@@SageandStoneHomestead sadly: VERY SADLY....I'm not & often wind up with bruising on the shoulders. That's unnecessary trauma!!! 😟
Thank you ❤
Thanks you for sharing. This is the way I have chosen. I just now got 2 baby Rex to raise and breed. Your video have help me so much on raising rabbits. Thank you.
You're so welcome! Thanks for watching!
That was a lot easier than I thought it would be. You can really tell when it breaks. Thanks for sharing this part of the process, Heather. Cheers!
Yes it's a very obvious thing too when you're handling the rabbit in question. Immediate lights-out!
Great method. Very quick and gets the job done the first time with minimal potential of error.
We have talked about getting rabbits to feed our dogs. I have always wondered how you process them. Thank you for showing. This is very hard but so necessary.
A lot of people raise rabbits for dog food!!
I feed my hunting dogs rabbits , I simply gut them skin them and grind the whole thing bones and all
I figure the dog might process them for you, the natural way, but it won't be quite as humane.
Thank you for the Video, very informative! I’m getting ready to start my meat rabbits and seeing everybody’s perspective is very helpful. I think this will probably be the method that I end up using.
Extremely well done, love this tutorial 👍🏼
Thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Very professional and quick.
Glad it was helpful!
I wanted to thank you for making this video. I watched over & over until I felt confident & just did my first dispatch. It went well thanks to you! 💪
This is why we do this, thank you so much for letting me know and congratulations!!!
I don't know what they are thinking but they don't seem stressed. Confused maybe.
@@SageandStoneHomesteadI see, thanks!!
