If they made it 3rd person it would lose immersion. You realize your height when standing next to humans. So yes, the character model is accurately scaled in terms of height.
You would probably come across the problem Assassin's Creed has and that is the third person camera just having to struggle across weird terrain, environments and especially tight places. You'd want to see what's in front of you and probably your character but prioritizing both will require either x-ray mode where the camera phases through walls, forced close ups where it doesn't phase through walls but instead the gets close to the character enough to phase through and weird inputs where in a parkour situation, if your camera isn't locked and for AC Valhalla it isn't, the direction you're going isn't always clear. An example would be trying to get a view of the world but with a stone wall right behind the character. Your camera has to be offset, phasing or doing close ups.

Agree on the b-game vibes. A bit of the air combat and flight section had some horrible textures on display and not enough lighting work to obscure it. For a moment those rocks looked like Oblivion!
Ya, I'm lukewarm on the films too. I would give this game a go if it shows it has something more to offer. Namely a good story. But... I doubt it. If it's fun and pretty, great. But if all it has are visuals and not much more then I'll have to pass it by. It's kinda like these movies. They are gorgeous and fun, but ultimately not really worth watching again. And I feel that a game Ike this will ultimately be less interesting than even the movies are. But running around on Pandora would be cool, no doubt.

Second sin was making the mechs and enemies in general easy - this is just terrible for immersion and fun. Remember games like dishonoured where the bigger enemies like mechs were only approached if ABSOLUTELY necessary because they were so threatening.
Yep, I was excited for the first 15 seconds, then before a minute was up my hopes were squelched. -
Was hoping to see some melee weapons like the first avatar game had. It would have been sweet to see that in first person

The first Avatar game was really cool in the fact that you could play for the RDA or Navi and it also had multiplayer which was quite fun.
This with VR support could be pretty special - with co-op too!
Once Nvidia releases their Super XXX 10999ti we will finally be able to enjoy something like this.
@@filipivan5125 the future is here now :) but yes, when the model you quoted is released it’ll be a bit better ;)
it already looks like it's suffering horrible FPS drops so don't hold your breath. I have a 7800x3d+3080 and I regularly 100% all the cores on the CPU and GPU all for 90fps or less, while doing simple sim racing. Meanwhile on a single screen I can easily get 400 fps. They need a breaththrough on the way they render VR or something because right now it's not very good
I agree with the co-op part!
I remember playing the og one in co-op with my brother on the Wii. What a blast! Was probably one of our fav games on the Wii at the time.
Regular Ubisoft game in term of gameplay. Graphics also look good, but that was never probelm for ubisoft. It will all be down to a magnitude of story and how well is put togather
Looking forward to see the multiplayer modes too
Honestly hope it’s a like an advanced version of the original avatar game where you get to play as the rda or Navi depending on which side you pick. That game was so fun to me even though it may have been lacking a bit in some ways. It felt expansive and fun and both sides had completely different campaign and feel to them.
I wish it were available on steam. I had a lot of fun with it. I remember it getting absurdly difficult though. Idk if I’m remembering correctly though
You only play as Navi in this game unfortunately
The first gameplay show off they did say the story is about (your character) Na’vi who have been taken from at a young age and trained to fight against their own. Until the events of the first avatar movie when the rda lead the attack on the Tree of Souls, the trained Na’vi were put in cryo and you awaken before or just after the rda return to Pandora.
In short, we won’t be able to play as a human unless a dlc story line is created.

As someone who's lukewarm on the whole Avatar franchise and wishes James Cameron would do something else with the twilight of his career... this game actually looks really fun. It has b-game vibes in certain places which is weird considering how beautiful and detailed the world is.
Agree on the b-game vibes. A bit of the air combat and flight section had some horrible textures on display and not enough lighting work to obscure it. For a moment those rocks looked like Oblivion!
not every game needs to be goty tho. Just cool u get to explore Pandora in a game in 2023
@@fanta104 Having b-game vibes is a little far from goty... nobody was expecting that bud

Also a lot of mtx money they could've made off cosmetics too.

Looks pretty good for the most part, some of the flying scenes have some PS2 era lighting, but other than that, it actually looks like it could be a solid experience.
Lighting should be much better, they are marketing the game as an always ray tracing on next gen game.
Not only that. Look at that ridiculous skybox! That looks like something straight from Nintendo/PS1 era. And the animations from the first person perspective look just as outdated. The character has no weight to her movements whatsoever, all animations seem half-assed and those floating arms when running make it feel like you're playing Mario in first person mode. I'm not nearly as impressed as all those Avatar stans jizzing in their pants from all the excitement, just because they'll get to play an Avatar game. It's still Ubisoft we're talking about here, guys! It feels very weird to think that this game is gonna be nearly 10 years old by the time the franchise is finished.
Agreed. Animations, Dialogue and writing is always off with Ubisoft games.
As the video went on the game started to look a lot better, but there was definitely something off with it at the start, especially while you were flying around. The graphics looked quite dated! I have high hopes for this game so fingers crossed they can sort these things out for the release, the game looks like it would be gorgeous in HDR, especially at night!
Imagine thinking these graphics look "dated". Good lord, what have we become. No wonder games take forever to make now and developers are being crunched into oblivion.
@@tronamif you actually read my comment you'd see I said the game looked good but at certain times it looked dated. Look at 3:20 and 3:32 and tell me there isn't something off. The lighting isn't right and the clouds are patchy and flickering. There was issues with things flickering throughout the whole video which can be seen from the very start of the video. These are all things that can be fixed obviously so I'm hoping for the best, I was just expecting it to look a bit more polished if they wanted to show it off.
