  • Oil cooler install on Yamaha TW200. Pretty simple install, basic tools needed. Make sure you put your oil filter back in the correct way. Check for oil leaks and oil level. Make sure you route everything away from exhaust and any sharp edges. www.bradleyperformanceproducts.net

    So far, couple mm off on peg mounts, exhaust was good install, I recommend putting some super glue on the rubber mounting gasket that goes over the brace as it slides off easily. Oil cooler install now. Will update this as I go. Hey its critisism but in a nice way no punt intended, just giving my hinest reviews so far. Thanks Brad

    13:00 - Do you think there would there be a significant improvement by using a fan? In my mind, I can picture something small, similar to a computer case fan, being a very good fit for this application. That would have very little electrical draw and could help provide airflow at slow speeds. Anyway, thanks for the detailed overview.

    I'd love to put one of these on my Kawasaki Super Sherpa. It appears they would fit on very well and would not need a new oil filter cover as the hoses would connect on existing ports and lines! However I'm unsure if my application would need a one way flow control/back flo preventer in it. I would also think a water proof fan would be best as my bike only runs hot when in lowest gears. Road speed cooling is no problem whatsover.

Just knowing that there are some “ hard core “ TDub riders ….. do you think an oil cooler metal guard?.. could be fabricated as well….Example would be like the Suzuki DR 650???… just looking at protection for such an investment….thanks again Brad. • @bradleyperformanceproducts
      @bradleyperformanceproducts  Рік тому

      We are working on it. We can't decide how we want to handle it. It is probably just going to be a video on the specifics of the kit that need to be done differently for the install rather than a long training video on how to work on engine top ends in general. There are plenty of those out there. We can do whatever needs to be done though if that is the case. What are your thoughts?

      @@chris9270 the mount that we have really only gives you one choice for mounting. Yes it will hold a few ounces more oil. It would slowly leak down through the pump over time with the engine off, so it will look a little over full until started and warmed up. I really don't have a way of mounting two at the moment. You can get them on our website Bradley performance products.net.

    Nah,i don’t like it. It sticks out too far,and did you do a volume test to determine if that little engine is pumping enough oil up n through that oil cooler. No oil starvation issues yet. How many miles of R&D do you have into that ststem?

    • @bradleyperformanceproducts
      @bradleyperformanceproducts  Рік тому +1

      We test on several different bikes in different situations. The cooler is inside the envelope of a downed bike to try to keep it from any damage. Like most hydraulic systems, we are only cooling the bleed oil from the filter case. The volume obviously varies with engine rpm. Definitely no issues.

    I have a California model that has a charcoal canister mount on the downtube. The canister has been removed. My question is there enough room to mount the oil cooler to downtube or will the canister mount have to be removed?

    Question; reason for oil cooler is to cool oil at high RPM for longer period of time( long trips ). right ??

    • @bradleyperformanceproducts
      @bradleyperformanceproducts  Рік тому +1

      When Yamaha designed the engine, they designed the temperature to stabilize for a given load and engine RPM, otherwise the engine would just continue to get hotter and hotter and eventually overheat. If the engine and oil temperature stabilized at say 240 degrees at cruise at 6000 rpm, then we are using the cooler to bring that stabilized temp down. So to answer your question, yes.

    Does this starve the engine for oil on start up until the radiator fills with oil, or does it have a check valve?

    • @bradleyperformanceproducts
      @bradleyperformanceproducts  Рік тому +2

      The oil being cooled is the oil in the oil filter case, so a portion of that oil around the filter and in the cooler will drain back into the case when the engine isn't running. Yamaha obviously designed the engine this way, so it should function just like OEM. This kit cools the bleed oil from the engine and operates in parallel to the oil system, not in series. No worries about oil starvation.

I imagine there will be others with the California TW model who will need to know this... and while I know you probably can't "recommend" this mod for legal reasons, maybe you could let me know if I'm on the right path, as I plan on installing this (delivered today). The TW forums say it can be removed, and the vent line from the gas tank can remain open to vent, but the vent line from the carb can be plugged. Does this sound right or would you leave both open to vent? I can't seem to find a definitive answer on forums.
