I had the Pin Tailed Whydah at my kitchen window for about 6 months. He disappeared. He was a wonderful pet when I whisled he would come. He loves doves & would hang around them.

Hello Daniel - IMr Whydah in my garden has now succeeded in driving ALL the other birds from the garden - my day usually starts with a wonderful gathering of a host of small birds [ weavers, red-bishops and the like] but for the last week there are none. I wish I could capture him and relocate him but that seems so Putinesque.

There is not much you can do. The whydah is trying claim all the seed for himself and his females.. I find on a feeding table he eats peacefully with the other birds. So try putting some seed on the table and on the ground. Besides it is amusing to watch how he scatters the other birds like ping pong balls.
