    Good video, I only got my original UK mono copy last month. It is in excellent condition which is difficult to get for the 606-1 matrix. Looking forward to doing a similar comparison.
    I recently did comparison of different pressings of Abbey Road and Dark Side of The Moon because I got the Pro-Use editions of both. I was very surprised by the differences in the sound quality.
    In both cases the original Japanese pressings were the best sounding records for me. I did not like the Pro-Use at all.
    I was also very impressed with my 70's Irish pressing of Abbey Road, very similar to the Japanese original. Must get the UK originals.

    So i’m not the only one… i’ve got 24 different pressings of Revolver and from different countries.😁

    Great video. I am slowly building my ´best I can get´ Beatles studio vinyl albums collection. I have ´Rubber Soul´ and ´Magiical Mystery Tour´ early UK pressings but now I can see the 2022 Mono of Revolver is calling out to me. A new pressing that is a great version makes it an auto buy for me. Excellent!

      Thanks! And awesome to hear you are building toward this collection! For Magical Mystery Tour I can strongly advice the German Stereo ‘Hor Zu’ pressings from the ‘70s. It is a giant leap from what is out there (incl the mono’s) and one of the most impressive Beatles pressings around. I was simply stunned by how this album could sound.

    Another gem of a video my man! I have an original UK stereo, the MFSL, U.S. Capitol originals as well as a reissue.

    I stopped by looking for discussion about whether the 2022 mono has been subjected to Giles Martin's much-vaunted new forensic enhancement software, like the stereo master tapes...

    The 1st mono UK or the 1981 mono UK using the original metal are the way to go for me. None of the reissues compare for me.

    i prefer the stereo mix for revolver, rubber soul and the white album. it makes the instruments and vocals clearer imo... i have mofi copies of both which i prefered over the uk stereo 1st pressings. many people say the 80s mofis have a happy face EQ but i think they sound great.

      Interesting! What makes you prefer them above the UK 1sts?

      @@top5records796 2 things first of all.... ive bought a uk mono 1st press rubber soul and a 1st press stereo. both copies had lots groove wear on the track my michelle. i had a uk 1st press stereo revolver and a uk 1st press mono revolver and both had some degree of groove wear. not horrible like my michelle but still slightly annoying. to find completely groove wear free copies would be a big money hole...
      2nd ...the mofis are of course more quiet and have a blacker background than the 1st press originals.
      but in terms of sound....yes the 1st press copies have more..."color" they sound a bit livelier.... but i think there is more separation of the instruments on the mofi. like i can pick apart the instruments easier on the mofi. the vocals are what stood out to me the most on the mofis. they are slightly more up front and easier to hear the harmonies imo for rubber soul and revolver.
      i will say the mofi abbey road sucks. it sounds muddy with too much bass. for abbey road i have a japanese pro use. i used to have a uk 2nd press and i think the pro use is a bit better.

    I know that there is a "school of mono." I wonder if by this time in 1966 the Beatles had fully embraced stereo and worked hard on the soundscapes you can create with stereo. I suspect that they never did a mono mix of this album themselves. Perhaps a Beatles expert can comment.

    • @top5records796
      @top5records796  Рік тому +3

      To be quite frank I’m not part of the school of mono, basically I am looking for the record that comes closest to the version made by the artists/producer. So I always try to find out what they where working on.
      With regard to the moment The Beatles started taking stereo serious; that came after this record (though the stereo from Revolver is far from bad!). Sgt. Peppers is still very much concentrated on the mono mix but by the time of The White Album the time spent (and payed for in the studio) got more equal between a mono and a stereo mix. As a matter of fact I think that Magical Mystery Tour is already a case in which the stereo sounds much more interesting than the mono.

    I find chats and discussion about music more interesting than technical audiophile stuff by the way I think more people can engage cus not everyone has super sonic hearing or cares that much haha

    • @top5records796
      @top5records796  Рік тому

      Thank you for your comment! I will keep posting video’s about the music. But to be quite frank; differences within pressings are not for supersonic hearing or expensive audio systems. I got involved in different pressings when by coincidence I had two pressings of Revolver in my collection and I did not understand why they sounded so different. My set was crap and the same stereo I had received when I was 11, yet; there was a significant difference and then I found out I had two different pressings.
      My experience with hearing a good pressing is that it can feel like the first time you listened to a record.
