I like the first trilogy more but I think book 5-6 are better than 4. Not that 4 was bad. They’re lighter and more “cowboy” so not exactly up my alley but still enjoyable
I’m the first to complain if nothing happens in a book but I will read any Holly Black book even if nothing happens and I don’t even know why :P I’m very excited for her adult book!
Really excited for new T.Kingfisher release! "The Hollow Places" (metaphysical horror) was one of my favorites this year, so I can't wait to get more from this author!
I’m hoping that The Lost Metal comes out at the end of 2022 because I want to reread Era 1 and 2 of Mistborn beforehand. I’ve never reread them before so I’m excited!!! I’m also looking forward to Gallant. 🤞🏻
Ooo a new Blake Crouch! I hadn't heard of this one until now! Excited for that! I honestly haven't been that enamoured by Peter Swanson but don't want to give up on him just yet!
I am also waiting for Witch King. I've never tried her fantasy, but now I know I like her writing style from Murderbot I'm on board. Of course waiting for Sanderson as well. I'm most anticipating Age of Ash by Daniel Abraham, In the Shadow of Lightning by McClellan, and the new Kim Harrison & Mercy Thompson urban fantasies. I haven't allowed myself to get excited about books without the cover art yet haha.
Guy Gavriel Kay has a new title set to publish during 2022. He's the one author (whose work is published as fantasy) who I buy at or near release, no questions asked. Were GRRM to publish another ASOIAF title this coming year I'd of course snap it up pronto, but we all know the chances of that happening. Otherwise, I'm not normally one to go out of my way to buy a book upon publication. When I do, it's as much luck-of-the-draw as anything else.
Emily, thanks for making this list. Already looking forward to the books by RF Kuang, Simone St. James, and (of course) Becky Chambers! I share your apprehension about Riley Sager. His premises are so good that I wish he wrote good books.
2022 is feeling so close with these videos 😱😍 Maybe you ever did and I wasn't on booktube yet, but I suddenly thought of you doing a video about auto-buy-authors and I now I am really looking forward to that haha 🙈💕 Is that something you would ever plan on doing?
I did a series all about authors :) Here are two: The ones that are auto-read ua-cam.com/video/KL7Jjl6KQ1Q/v-deo.html Some I won't read from again ua-cam.com/video/MPEc92JWOVY/v-deo.html
Books I’m looking forward too: Lisa Gardner - one step too far, Jeneva Rose - one of us is dead, DJ Palmer - my wife is missing, Jennifer Hillier - Things we do in the dark, The Riley sager and peter Swanson one. Along with some others but those the top off my head
I'm also excited for Gallant by V.E. Scwab as well as House of Sky and Breath by Sarah J Maas. The new Blake Crouch sounds good as well. The book of cold cases is already on my goodreads want to read list as it sounds really intriguing.
I was intrigued by Nine Lived but then found out it follow Eight Perfect Murders, at least that’s what I understand. I haven’t read Eight because it’s supposed to spoil all of the books the character pulls inspiration from. I need to accept that I’m never going to read those books mentioned and just read it so I can read Nine Lives. But I thought I’d throw this comment out in case anyone planned to read Nine and didn’t have this info.
Well, that's another 4 books for my TBR for next year, thanks! 🙂 One that I'm looking forward to is the October release "Ithaca" by Claire North, the first in an apparent fantasy/historical fiction trilogy
I'm so ready for To Paradise. A Little Life is one of the only books that has made me sob and feel genuine heart break 😭 I'm ready for some more pain 😂
I actually really like Riley Sager's female characters from the 2 books I have read by him. Normally I notice if the author is male, but with him I didn't
Not to be pessimistic, but The House Across The Lake premise sound a lot like a bunch of other thrillers that came out in the last decade. Hopefully this book can subvert that trope.
I DNFed Atlas Six. It was so pretentious, and honestly hard to read at times with her sentence structures. I got so annoyed by everyone's internal monologue about how they didn't like everyone else because XYZ but never showed those characters doing those things. Like too much tell not enough show. Every character was unlikeable. Blech. Couldn't do it. It was driving me into a slump. I'm reading The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet now... for reference I reeeeeally don't enjoy Sci-fi in general but i'm honestly so so so in love with it thus far.
What books coming in 2022 are on your TBR?
About the Mistborn serie, have you read the 6 books or only the trilogy?
All 6! I need to read the short story
@@BookswithEmilyFox I’ve heard some people saying that it gets “worst” hahaha do you agree? I’m almost done with the first book
I like the first trilogy more but I think book 5-6 are better than 4. Not that 4 was bad. They’re lighter and more “cowboy” so not exactly up my alley but still enjoyable
I don’t often read contemporary but surprisingly I’m highly anticipating “I Kissed Shara Wheeler” by Casey McQuiston!
Can’t wait for Hanya Yanagihara to make everyone cry again 😌
I’m way overdue for a good cry 😌
Can’t believe you’re giving Riley Sager another chance after the last one! We definitely need a vlog.
I’m an eternal optimist… and way too stubborn 😇
Watching this with Emily's Goodreads open so that I can add 90% of the books she mentions to my TBR pile ;)
I heard "The Puppy Wars" and was excited
The French accent strikes again 😅
I’m looking forward to Cassandra Clare’s chain of thorns and her first adult novel sword catcher
Me too!
yessss!!!!
Definitely want to read Upgrade. I loved Recursion by him! ☺
His book dark matter is also good.
Becky Chambers can do no wrong! I love her writing ❤️
Same! She could write about anything and I would read it!
I’m the first to complain if nothing happens in a book but I will read any Holly Black book even if nothing happens and I don’t even know why :P

Ooh, the Twisted Ones was a huge favourite of mine. Very excited.

Pretty sure Lost Metal is coming out fall 2022.
The house across the lake
I would love a vlog of the next Riley Sager book from u!!
It will either save him or... I'll be done haha
Ooo a new Blake Crouch! I hadn't heard of this one until now! Excited for that! I honestly haven't been that enamoured by Peter Swanson but don't want to give up on him just yet!
Definitely will check out book of night by holly black I did enjoy some of her books
Can't wait for Hanya Yanagihara's book.
your videos are always so zen and help me destress 🙏🏽
Yesssss more Becky Chambers and Blake Crouch!!
Yes so excited for Gallant!!!!
Cozy Mysteries are the ones that, as my mother puts it, have 'pleasant murders'.
I am also waiting for Witch King. I've never tried her fantasy, but now I know I like her writing style from Murderbot I'm on board. Of course waiting for Sanderson as well.

i cant WAIT for the Lost Metal! I really enjoy Era 2 and I can't wait to see how he will wrap it up.

Quand j'ai vu "Babel" apparaître sur l'écran, j'ai retenu mon souffle sur comment tu allais décider de le prononcer 🤣 J'ai pas été décue
I don’t even know how to pronounce it in English😂

So psyched about Babel!! I adored 😍 poppy war!

Just went and pre-ordered Becky Chamber's book.
I’m so excited for all the new fantasy! I’m fielding for SJM lmao
Emily have you read Senlin Ascends??!! I would highly recommend it.
Hmm Upgrade sounds like the movie Upgrade :D
I’m excited for the finale to the Foundryside trilogy, which is coming out in Spring, last I checked
I'm so excited for RF Kuang's book
This is my fav type of video! Makes me so excited 😎

I love her ideas but I struggle with her writing... I've only read 2 of her books so far though
I’m looking forward to Bloodmarked by Tracy Deon!!
I'm so ready for To Paradise. A Little Life is one of the only books that has made me sob and feel genuine heart break 😭 I'm ready for some more pain 😂
In any other context, I would worry about our mental health but... yes I'm ready too haha
I actually really like Riley Sager's female characters from the 2 books I have read by him. Normally I notice if the author is male, but with him I didn't
Which books? Because Lock Every Door, Survive the Night and Home Before Dark were bad imo but The Last TIme I Lied was fine
@@BookswithEmilyFox Maybe I missed something because I read Lock Every Door and Home Before Dark.
Same, I thought Riley was a female until I followed him on Twitter lol
Ooh ready to start all the screen shots lol
I need to start posing 🙃
I am super hoping for the last book in the second Red Rising trilogy, by Pierce Brown. 🤞🏼
I’m excited about Fiona Davis’s next book, coming in January. I think it’s called Magnolia Place.
I am looking forward to anything by Laura Dave. I read "The Last Thing He Told Me" recently.
My nanowrimo book title is also called "nine lives" ahah (but it doesn't match the stores anymore and I will change it)
quickest I have ever pressed the like button 🤩
Riley Sager's new book just sounds like The Woman in the Window.
Not book related, but I love your makeup in this video 😊
Thank you :)
Currently Reading 'We Begin at the End' and enjoying it so far...P.S. What's your lip shade?? 💜
Every day I wake up. And I wonder... Where is Madeline Miller's new book? :(
I'm so confused, are V.E. Schwab and Victoria Schwab the same author?
Yes! She publishes adult books under V E Schwab and YA/Middle Grade under Victoria Schwab
Tu es québécoise ?! Est-ce que tu comptes présenter des reading vlogs de livres queb ?
self-published books still have editors
Chuck Wendig's sequel to Wanderers next summer❤️❤️
cant wait for iain reid’s new book! he’s in my top 5 authors of all after just two books 🤗
also emily you might really like foe! some good horror sci-fi shit in that one !!!
Nine Lives plot looks like The Pale Horse by Agatha Christie
So Sager's new book would basically be the Girl on the Train?
More like “the woman in the window”
Great video!
The house across the lake sounds a lot like the woman in the window

I am now 99% convinced that the pill from AHS Red Tide is real and Brandon Sanderson is definitely a consumer lmao
The House Across the Lake sounds too much like The Woman in the Window.
Oh wow you’re one of the only people I have heard on here who doesn’t like Riley Sager.
I loved “the last time I lied“ but ever since that it’s been hit and miss and some really bad misses (survive the night) so I’m less enthousiastic now
