Nazi Germany developed with direct Soviet suport, both in terms of resources, common developed military research, tank development and testing and so on. Not to mention the bravest Soviet army stabing Poland in the back, as per the agreement with Germany. So, folk Russia, you were just as dirty as Germany in WW2. Nonetheless, I feel for the common people trapped by those crazy regimes.
This is one of the rarest channels that shows the soviet people as people, and not orcs.
it is not a great, but nor sicj a rare channel, there are planty of this kind of channels with all kind of Russian songs, (not only from the Great Patriotic War), but most of them are on Rissian language and on Cyrlic. There are also several other chanels of this kind in English, but, this choice of this particular version and with the best, so far English translaation..is one of the best.

sadly, both Soviets and Germans were projected as orcs and goblins, not as venerable people.
The Cold War never properly ended. It is still highly advantageous for Western Europeans and Americans to portray Russians as terribly as possible. In our current geopolitical context, stripping Russians of any form of patriotism and humanity through blatant lies and mockery widely distributed via intense propaganda is the preferred course of action for the aforementioned nations.

You can actually hear the pain in the singers voice. How he wants to go back home, but he can't. The uncertainty, the melancholy, the sadness, the loneliness! And all you can hear, is the lonely wail of the Steppe's wind through the song as well. Just perfect!

It's not that it's bad, it's just... one of those songs that doesn't get better with an orchestra. This is the song of a homesick man playing the guitar alone with a cigarette and a glass of whiskey, in the middle of the winter.
Idk, I'll have to disagree with you on that one, my man. The original song definitely is the true essence of the song, but this version portrays such a hauntingly beautiful version of the same story that it's definitely something that adds to the entire experience.
