Hi Andrew, thank you for sharing this video. 1 question I have, that was not clear from your video at 4:45-4:55 section was when you go to rename the template. You say to copy it from the document and paste it so it is exactly like the document, 1 problem, you did not show what "document" you are copying from or where to find that "document". I have watched the video several times but cannot for the life of me figure out where you are copying the info from before pasting it in. Any help you could provide would be fantastic! Thanks again

How do you deploy the customization changes to make them LIVE when you successfully finished making the customization? 2. What do you do with the "duplicate" if it gets messed up? 3. Where is this "duplicate" and what is it called? 4. When and how to you "leave" the "duplicate" version and revert (either temporarily or permanently) back to the original store version?
Ahhhh, I think I just discovered the answers to my questions. I just noticed a few scrolls down from where you showed how to duplicate that there is a new name listed there with options to publish, rename, remove, edit, etc.

Fantastic videos Andrew. I’m in the process of building a store with a friend and I had a question that I hoped you could help answer. Would it be better from an SEO and ads perspective to have a product for each colour variant? We want to sell watch straps, we will only start with 14 products but each product has around 4 colours and several sizes. So I am wondering what you think would be a better strategy to start out with? One product and several variants in it, or one product per colour and size variants in each colour? Maybe I’m I’ve thinking it but when I go to Google I see one brand with multiple listings when they have multiple products for each colour and the others brands with one colour and multiple variants get less listings which makes me think a colour per listing could lead to more traffic and more sales. Step 2: Repeat the Step 1, but this time choose i.imgur.com/Yx92NxZ.png Paste the code where you want it to be shown, and that should be it. Tell me how it went! Cheers!

There isn't a type= submit so I don't know what to do now and I really like this theme cause I got a lot for a good price

Unfortunately for different pricing you'll need to use one of the apps. We reviewed Bold product options and Infinite Options by ShopPad and both of them are amazing solutions. There are also some free options like Infinite Product Options by HulkApps. :)

So I did this method and it works for one of my products that I really want to be customizable but how do you change it to where it is just that one product because I want only customizable jackets not customizable lipgloss or lashes

@@EcomExperts hello thanks for responding I know what u mean, so for example I had to code I was able to add the text box to my shop and at the time I only had one product, so now I guess since I did the code it’s embedded in all my products, even without variants , for example it says “glitter # bandana # glitter text” under my lipgloss when I only wanted that code under my custom jackets

Hi. Nice video! I have a question. I have embed a youtube link for the media description of a product. When I am searching the product, the first time it shows only an image of the embed video. Is there a possibility the show the product with the video player directly, instead of that image?..and only if the buyer clicks on the title of the product to see the detailes of the product?
Could you make a video on coding for conditional form fields? For example, if the customer clicks a checkbox that they want to customize the product, then additional line items will appear that they can fill in. Thanks! And great video!
Yes there is but that's realy not something I can explain on a "plug & play" UA-cam video unfortunately. At this point you got to bite the bullet and get a dev involved OR get an app with the feature - We reviewed a couple that offer this. Hope this helps :)
Easy to follow along! But when I added the code, it's not showing up on the site. Cleared my Cache. Checked from an alternate device. No error in the code. Pasted it in the same spot you did. Saved. Made sure that template was live. Changed the template on the product itself. Nothin. Thoughts? What do ya think I did wrong?

@Can Nicolas Öcal Bold Product Options is the most commonly used app for this, but it is a little bit expensive. HulkApps has an amazing free app for this, so I highly recommend to try it.

I would like to ask, Is it possible to make a single template with 20 custom fields, but only enable the required fields per product? omg with so many videos i doubt you will see my comment but I followed through all the steps I actually did it with you "together" lol , so when i went to the product i wanted to change the template i did it and saved it but when I went to check "drum rolls" nothing showed up not even the product I was selling like it disappeared so I went back to products to change the template back to the standard one and saved it and it showed up. so idk what i did wrong! :( Im sureeee i did everything right. any suggestions? im open for a call!!!!!!

I think this is related to my question as well. I'm using the Prestige Theme and am unable to locate the place to add form code. I though it was just me.
OK! Express is a little bit different so instead of searching for add to cart button try searching for {% render 'product-form', . Place the code right above it and it should work.
Ugh! I have been watching video after video all morning - but the one thing no one says is on my shopify when I add a new template it asks me if I want it to be JSON or liquid. If I choose JSON code comes up. If I choose liquid no code comes up as it does in your video. Most of the videos I have seen use liquid - but it just does not work for me. What am I doing wrong??

After I saved everything n went to my website it gave me this message “Liquid error; Error in tag ‘section’. Product customizable template is not a valid section type. Can you please help. Thank you

Hello Andrew, first of all thank you for all the help you provide. I also tried to create a Checkbox group and worked but the tick box is not align with the text, how could i fix it? it looks bad in my website.
So I did this method and it works for one of my products that I really want to be customizable but how do you change it to where it is just that one product because I want only customizable jackets not customizable lipgloss or lashes
Hi Lani! If you created different template for customizable products as we showed in the video, only products of your choosing should have customizable options. :)
@@EcomExperts hello thanks for responding I know what u mean, so for example I had to code I was able to add the text box to my shop and at the time I only had one product, so now I guess since I did the code it’s embedded in all my products, even without variants , for example it says “glitter # bandana # glitter text” under my lipgloss when I only wanted that code under my custom jackets

@@EcomExperts yea it was so long ago so I believe what I did was from the code making site( to make the text for the custom part) I had put that in my product template I don’t think I made a new one
@@EcomExperts I had found a solution, I had to take off products.customization on every product I didn't want to be custom

Hi. Nice video! I have a question. I have embed a youtube link for the media description of a product. When I am searching the product, the first time it shows only an image of the embed video. Is there a possibility the show the product with the video player directly, instead of that image?..and only if the buyer clicks on the title of the product to see the detailes of the product?

Could you make a video on coding for conditional form fields? For example, if the customer clicks a checkbox that they want to customize the product, then additional line items will appear that they can fill in. Thanks! And great video!

Yes there is but that's realy not something I can explain on a "plug & play" UA-cam video unfortunately. At this point you got to bite the bullet and get a dev involved OR get an app with the feature - We reviewed a couple that offer this. Hope this helps :)

Easy to follow along! But when I added the code, it's not showing up on the site. Cleared my Cache. Checked from an alternate device. No error in the code. Pasted it in the same spot you did. Saved. Made sure that template was live. Changed the template on the product itself. Nothin. Thoughts? What do ya think I did wrong?

Hello, thanks for the video. Is there a way to add a code for extra charges (lets say, I create a custom option for "add sealer" but want it to cost an addition $5 if the customer checks the box)?
Hi Camilla! It is not possible to make charges with this customization, you will need to use an app for it.
@Can Nicolas Öcal Bold Product Options is the most commonly used app for this, but it is a little bit expensive. HulkApps has an amazing free app for this, so I highly recommend to try it.

This looks like the solution I am in need of and it seems very clear to implement.
I would like to ask, Is it possible to make a single template with 20 custom fields, but only enable the required fields per product?
If the above is not possible, then I would need to create around 50 different templates for different product types.

If I haven't main-product in my theme, and I'm applying this into my product form so that time it's not working.
omg with so many videos i doubt you will see my comment but I followed through all the steps I actually did it with you "together" lol , so when i went to the product i wanted to change the template i did it and saved it but when I went to check "drum rolls" nothing showed up not even the product I was selling like it disappeared so I went back to products to change the template back to the standard one and saved it and it showed up. so idk what i did wrong! :( Im sureeee i did everything right. any suggestions? im open for a call!!!!!!

Hi Andrew, thank you for the thorough tutorial. I am using the "Express" theme and cannot locate any where within the customisable product template code, created under Sections, to add the Form Field code. Would you mind please taking a look and suggesting where I can paste the Form Field code? Thanks in advance :)
I think this is related to my question as well. I'm using the Prestige Theme and am unable to locate the place to add form code. I though it was just me.
OK! Express is a little bit different so instead of searching for add to cart button try searching for {% render 'product-form', . Place the code right above it and it should work.

Ugh! I have been watching video after video all morning - but the one thing no one says is on my shopify when I add a new template it asks me if I want it to be JSON or liquid. If I choose JSON code comes up. If I choose liquid no code comes up as it does in your video. Most of the videos I have seen use liquid - but it just does not work for me. What am I doing wrong??

I pasted it above button and it appeared on my website, however now none of my other variants work (e.g. selecting a size (small, medium, large) and the add name section appears down the bottom of the page. This was awesome thank you Andrew. I customized one of my products last week. Tonight I went in to customize another product with a new message, but it didn't work. Not sure what I did wrong. Can you instruct on adding a second code for another product please?
