This rose is named for a lovely gardener and broadcaster we had in the UK. So many of us grew up watching Geoff Hamilton on Gardener’s World on TV. He was a legend.
I have ancient mariner for 3 years doesn't do that well on flowering. Hardly giving me any flowers. I'll probably have to move it to different locations

Hi! What is that octopus canes??? It sounds like my DA Princess Anne bush. It's 3 months old and dang, it has those long octopus canes. Omg, idk what to do with it!! My plants looking like a big beast!🤣 do you know why it does this??? And should I cut them back to make the plant bush out? Help!!😅🙏🌈🌟🌟🌟🌟
Hi, most David Austin roses can be trained as a mini climber because the long octopus cane. If you don't want to train it, you can I cut it the same height as the others, so the energy will spread out to the rest of the plant. I do that for my queen of Sweden. And scepter'd isle. Hope this will help😊

So far it has been 2 times. I am in California, if I don't prune it down in summer, it probably can flower 5 times a year
