Been looking forward to this all week, it didn't disappoint! Orange should be endorsing you for these!! Its amazing what a boost pedal does to an orange amp.
Thank you Scott. I hope these videos will help you guys to get your tones! This EQ/boost pedal is super amazing too! It has a lot of db per potentiometer. I'll do a demo about this too but I have some other things to show before. Thanks again! See you at the next episode! Cheers!
Hi Jameson To me the crush works great without an Eq too. In fact this is the first time that I use an Eq in the loop. By putting an Eq in the loop you're totally changing the character of an amplifier. I'm not a great fan of this but hey, it can help in certain situations! Cheers!
I saw in an interview that Kirk dimes the presence knob on his Randalls and the orange crush not having a presence knob was one of the big reasons he went back to his Randalls. Sounds real good like this to use an EQ to make up for that lack of presence and depth.
Actually I've never seen him using a crush. Maybe just 1 or 2 times in some videos. I decided to make this video because, not kidding, hundreds of people were asking me for it and I always said "no, you can't get that tone with the Crush". But people are stuck with what they see and not with what they hear
@@tonemorphdan TBH what I hear is you can get that tone. Pushing my crush with an OD sounds damn close to crowbar to me. Maybe not exactly the same but a solid 95% imo.
Actually I've never seen Kirk with the crush. Maybe just 2 times. I always said "wanna sound like that? Get a Randall." But people were asking for it and I got really bored by. So I just hope that this video will explain to everyone why I always said No. An eq in the loop will totally change the sound of an amp. So it's totally not the crush here
Very convincing. I subscribed (I thought I already had cause I had already watched the previous episodes !) You nailed it quite right, even without the Metalzone Kirk Windstein uses ! Concerning amps, I know Kirk Windstein uses mostly Randall, but also Orange CR120, but can't really find any infos on when he started using Orange heads and if they have been used on any album, or just live. All in all, good stuff man, keep it coming !
Thank you very much! In the Kirk's interview for Orange you can hear him talking about the metal zone. He says that he used it just as a clean boost. So gain at 0, Eq at noon and level at max. Nothing special then. Now looks like he replaced the metal zone with a tube screamer. Still haven't found a video online where he uses the crush btw. I saw him with a lot of TH and TV50 heads. Those heads are really massive and aggressive. That said, follow me on Instagram too for more content! Whatever you want to ask here I am! Glad to help you guys to get your tones! Cheers!
He talked about it in Does It Doom's podcast episode. He quickly went back to the Randalls for Crowbar because the sound was too synonymous with the band. He used them more live with Down because he's more willing to experiment with tone there, IIRC.

Glad to know I’m not the only one using a eq in the fx loop. It definitely helps the cr120

Kirk recently switched to his trusty old Randall Rg100es heads but you totally nailed that tone with the orange man!

Late to the party, I know. My new life's quest (as if I needed another), find an ebony SG-1. lol Then maybe a TV...
Will those same settings work on the orange terror stamp?
I don't think so
