I have the same twin motor CamVac and I cannot speak highly enough of it, it’s an amazing machine, I’m so impressed I have 2 of them, one next to my lathe and the other one set up with blast gates between my bandsaw and sander, I think they are brilliant 👍🏼

I found this to be somewhat confusing, the extractors are connected, yet you appear to say they are separate.
If you install a “cyclone” before the Camvac, you don’t get any dust/debris in the camvac. It can be shop made, mine is, and it’s also easy to empty.
I’d put in a picture, if I could….

You said that your workshop is about 10 meters.
Since you will put fixed connections in the future, the distance will be about 8 meters.
However, the manual of the CamVac states that the maximum length of the supply tube may only be 2 meters.
If this is longer than 2 meters, is the suction power at a longer distance equally strong?

Hi Willy, thank you for your comment. We now supply 2 meters of 100 mm hose, which was used to connect to a ducting system 2 ½” or around 63 mm. The system is fixed in place around the work area by way of individual 1m lengths, tee elbow and blast gates, these are joined by straight connectors. It is recommended that once your system is in place is to cement the joints, but only do so after you are happy at the final location. We do a boxed set of ducting system, and as per video I think this is best served with a twin motor extractor, it just gives the end user more flexibility. Hope this helps. Best Wishes, Record Power.

Thanks for your reply, I suposed you would install a fixed installation. Of course, if you make the installation mobile will change the final result. I will first try to run a PVC smooth-bore tube, without any rims or obstacles system of 100mm over a Cyclone Dust Commander separator filter system. Using this, I will protect the CamVac from dust and chips. The 100 liter barrels witch I will use, are easier to empty and this saves bags and filters. I suspect that the fix system in each direction will be about 3 to 4 meters. I will follow your advice, first mount the system dry and hope that there will be enough suction power left.

Hi Willy, I am also thinking of protecting the CamVac with a dust separator. I’m wondering how much drag the dust separator will reduce the air flow but I guess the 2 motors will still be very effective. Xtian from England.

Hi.
To be honest I found this somewhat confusing. It appears that the two vacs are connected, what appears to be a pipe, is just visible at the top of the picture. This assumption is reinforced, as both pipes react, when either extractor is switched on, you also talk about having the small one just for the sander, and the 2 motor one for the other equipment. So why are the connected?
I have a fully equipped, metal lathe, mill, bandsaw etc and wood, lathe bandsaws etc. workshop, it’s approx 7 x 2.5 M. My main extractor is the same RP 2 motor extractor as you are using. Mine has a main 4” pipe system with slide gates. Connections to the machinery are flexible pipe, to allow machinery to be moved (they are all on wheels)
I have incorporated a cyclone, before the extractor. In my opinion this is a MUST, it collects all of the dust etc. and is very easy to empty. NOTHING reaches the extractor, I’ve retained the filters in the extractor, as they don’t appear to have any effect on performance.
In addition, I have a large cylindrical vacuum, with wheels, which I use with the small machinery, sander etc. and general cleaning.
The RP extractor is very powerful. It blows the round outlet covers off, I haven’t fitted outlet pipework yet, but I’m intending to do so as it appears to reduce noise considerably.
One other comment, I have both motors set to start, and the startup current was sufficient to trip the 16A MCB. I had to replace this, with one which accommodates high initial current draw.

Hi. I’ve looked again, as you suggested. A quick walk around of your workshop showing the extraction pipework would have been very useful. As it is all that is just visible, is the horizontal main duct in the top of the picture, which appears to be connected to both extractors. Both flexible pipes react when either extractor is switched on. Which to me proves the extractors are both connected, by the main pipe. Have another look.
Another observation, the waste gate, top left appears to be a smaller than the flexible pipe. This will restrict flow and has the possibility of trapping larger debris.
