TFC or Tin Foil Chef was a hermit since season 2. He was well known to be the very definition of of "hermit", usually focused on his underground mining and build his base like it's 2015. Honestly the maturity of the majority of the server is what I appreciate so much about Hermitcraft. And what I mean specifically is how the relationships on the servers are kept healthy and the members behave respectfully and responsibly towards each other. They’re all adults, and they act like adults. And they keep it purely about the game, and leave everything else that’s unrelated and even arguably inappropriate out of it. Minecraft content is saturated by creators who are still like children themselves, and kids being idols and role models to other kids is not a great idea broadly speaking. Basically, once I found Hermitcraft and seen a lot of it, I fell in love with the positivity and peacefulness of it. It’s truly a safe haven from the craziness and immaturity of the majority of gaming content on UA-cam.

I think what most people forget is that the majority of them have been doing this for 15 years now. Not much of a surprise that they're as old as the video suggests. I've been watching them for 10 years now.
Maybe some of us also forget /we've/ been playing this game for almost 15 years now! I keep joking with my 9th graders that there's no way they were born in 2010, because that was only a few years ago, definitely less than five for sure...

Well, Mumbo has a known age of 27 now. so 8 years ago, Tango was 36+. Ergo, he is at least 44... which is Skizz's age. That tracks on all the known reference points, with a possible couple extra years tacked on.
Gem now being 27 is a prime example of how scary it is that we are all getting old. Gem said in a HCS9 stream to Tango, "I'm so old - I'm almost 30! I'm practically dead!" Even though Gem is still young compared to the other hermits, it's a bit sad that times are passing. Gem being in her 30s simply cannot compute in my mind. Similarly, the following also apply: Xisuma being 40, Iskall being 40, and Doc being 50. All of this has really put into perspective for me how old I am getting and how quickly times are passing, and I'm reminded and happy to savor every moment.
I don't know man, you sound really young. Something about "these kids today" and their intensely skewed idea of aging. Acting like their life ends at 30. You might be on this planet for 90 years, and kids act like it's over at 30. The only thing that happens as you get older is you realize how dumb you were in your 20s, and how much worthless stock you put into things that don't matter.... like "turning 30" Life is good. I wasn't saying that it's over at 30 - I was using the idea of Hermits, particularly Gem, getting older than I'm used to, to say that, as I age, I need to enjoy life as it comes a bit more (as I said, savoring every moment). I honestly apologize for not clarifying this, but when I said "times are passing," I meant the entirety of my life, not that reaching a certain age would invalidate my ability to enjoy. I admit that my not mentioning this is an oversight. I am fairly young, so I've (hopefully and ideally) got a lot of time left in my life as a whole.

Average life expectancy in Germany is about 80 years, so 4160 weeks, meaning I have about 2300 weeks left. Somehow this number resonates much more with me then 45 years. It tells me, every week is valuable and I shouldn't waste too many of them. But at the same time, If I spend 4 weeks doing nothing, I still have a lot left

Pearl is younger than Gem. They were both born in 1996. Gem was born first in May. Pearl was the last hermit to be born in June. Tango is either the same age or older than Impulse.

In a Phasmo-Stream Impulse made fun of Skizz for being old. Even though they're close to each other they were born in different generations (Gen X and Gen Y I think). Seeing that they're only two years apart makes this even funnier

Me too man. I’m 38, and just started playing Minecraft during the pandemic. I always thought it was just a kids game, and a lot of that was due to the younger channels on UA-cam that are geared toward kids content to begin with. If I had known about Hermitcraft a lot sooner, I would have been a fan immediately. One of the reasons I think I love it so much is because so many of the hermits are around my age.
Pearl’s chat freaking out on her 28th birthday was amazing. A couple minutes before midnight, chat kept saying, “5 MORE MINUTES!” “2 MINUTES!” And once the clock struck midnight, everyone started shouting “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” and gifting subs, bits, etc. Pearl herself even gifted some subs because it’s chat’s “birthday tradition” (referring to when people gift subs on their birthday and claim they tripped and fell, dropping subs or bits in the process). This is why I love Pearl’s community, the chaotic good vibes are strong.

He has a few videos where he shows himself live. One I've watched was for the Minecraft creator summit in Stockholm, another where he toured a WWII era submarine that was setup as a museum piece. Also, Iskall joined Doc for a little while in the summit video, and you can also see Grian at the summit, on the same elevator Doc takes at one point. Of course, this summit was before Grian joined Hermitcraft, so they didn't really know each other yet at that time. BigB was also there, but not in Doc's video. You see him hanging out with Grian a bit in Grian's video from that summit.
Same, turning 20 in a month or two and it's crazy. I've been watching Mumbo and Grian for a good... 9 years or something now. Time flies huh? I've been putting it off but I really ought to watch the other hermits and their series, I must miss out on so much stuff just watching the two. 😂😮
This is why Hermitcraft provides the best minecraft content. They are mature and well acomplished individuals who do their job with passion instead of some screaming teens who cant commit to anything..
Well, I am in my 50s and playing the game here. I definitely can say maturity adds so much to the Minecraft experience. The community you build up is as important, if not more important, than the gameplay itself, and most definitely enhances it.

I would have thought we would have members around my age by now. However, there are currently no Generation Z members (All of the members are Millenials except for the oldest 2 or 3 who are late Gen X, so none are as old as my parents, who are mid generation X) or ones born after 2000, as even the youngest one is 5 years older than me.
Most younger youtubers prefer to do that flashy over the top Mr Beast type content. Less grind, less effort. Ppl know that in Hermitcraft you need to commit your livelihood to the server, and that includes HOURS on stream, editing, off stream, just working on projects. The old schools handle it because they have backgrounds in other jobs, newer creators just dont do it like it used to be.

Keralis ans Xisuma were two of the first UA-camrs i ever followed, and I still enjoyed watching them, and their voice is almost nostalgic. it's cool that they're still playing Minecraft. I don't follow hermitcraft so closely nowadays but it nice it's still a thing

To be honest, I thought the same initially but then if u think a little deeper, there are many situations in which Mumbo feels like kinda socially awkward and doesn't really know how and stuff, where Grian seems to be more mature and chill with himself and stuff happening, so in a way wiser than Mumbo. I know what you mean, but I guess this comes more from Grian being as mischievous as he is, but that's not an age thing in my books

Me too man. I’m 38, and just started playing Minecraft during the pandemic. I always thought it was just a kids game, and a lot of that was due to the younger channels on UA-cam that are geared toward kids content to begin with. If I had known about Hermitcraft a lot sooner, I would have been a fan immediately. One of the reasons I think I love it so much is because so many of the hermits are around my age.

Pearl’s chat freaking out on her 28th birthday was amazing. A couple minutes before midnight, chat kept saying, “5 MORE MINUTES!” “2 MINUTES!” And once the clock struck midnight, everyone started shouting “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” and gifting subs, bits, etc. Pearl herself even gifted some subs because it’s chat’s “birthday tradition” (referring to when people gift subs on their birthday and claim they tripped and fell, dropping subs or bits in the process). This is why I love Pearl’s community, the chaotic good vibes are strong.

This is the first time I have seen Doc's face and he looks exactly how I would have imagined.
He has a few videos where he shows himself live. One I've watched was for the Minecraft creator summit in Stockholm, another where he toured a WWII era submarine that was setup as a museum piece.
Also, Iskall joined Doc for a little while in the summit video, and you can also see Grian at the summit, on the same elevator Doc takes at one point. Of course, this summit was before Grian joined Hermitcraft, so they didn't really know each other yet at that time. BigB was also there, but not in Doc's video. You see him hanging out with Grian a bit in Grian's video from that summit.
That picture of Doc is probably some years old. He started streaming again on the Weekends. You can see his face on Twitch now.

Well, I am in my 50s and playing the game here. I definitely can say maturity adds so much to the Minecraft experience. The community you build up is as important, if not more important, than the gameplay itself, and most definitely enhances it.

Especially the other ones without faces (Cleo and Etho). We can take guesses like you did with Scar and your guesses probably aren’t super far off. But definitely not accurately

I would have thought we would have members around my age by now. However, there are currently no Generation Z members (All of the members are Millenials except for the oldest 2 or 3 who are late Gen X, so none are as old as my parents, who are mid generation X) or ones born after 2000, as even the youngest one is 5 years older than me.
Most younger youtubers prefer to do that flashy over the top Mr Beast type content. Less grind, less effort. Ppl know that in Hermitcraft you need to commit your livelihood to the server, and that includes HOURS on stream, editing, off stream, just working on projects. The old schools handle it because they have backgrounds in other jobs, newer creators just dont do it like it used to be.
