We need to bring the phone back. It is much needed. Imagine the children who were abducted and killed by predators could have had a chance to call 911 before they were killed.
This is so cool, and in such a nice place! I was a courier in '05-'07. With no cell outside Metro Atlanta, I had to call dispatch on a payphone. I noticed it got harder to find a payphone. I often had to call from cracktown areas. To stay safe, I'd exit my car in a faux rage, and yell & cuss before the call went through. Locals thought I was bad crazy and they'd avoid me.
Its crazy cause payphones should still be around!!!! They saved so many lives back in the day when people wasn't really using cellphones. They should be near bus stops, gas stations, shopping ares, and rest stops. Making a 911 call should be free and 50 cent for a regular phone call. Only flaw about it now is that we are living in trolling and pranking age where people will just use them to play jokes probably. Payphones should always be around even if its just a few.
Smart kid. GOD is good. Just thunk what would habe happened if the kid didn't think about using this old antique. We used to use these in my day. It went from ten cents to twenty five. Then the price went up...and you had to add money in if you were gonna talk longer than ten to fifteen minutes
I don't. I'm 31. still used payphones until they were gone. used to hack them to dump the coin box for quarters for the arcade. just got a cell phone 3 months ago, a nokia flip phone for 99 cents. you make calls or do a little T9 texting and thats it. being on the phone 24/7 is more of a brainwashing and ignorance thing. people that dont know how to live life. i have a computer for internet, digital cameras for photos, game consoles for videogames, tv for watching tv and dvds, vhs, etc for movies. i use what works and stay using it, likewise i have a lot less problems than others.
35 years ago I installed and repaired phone booths for western Bell. Pay phones are a vital part of infrastructure because of EMP can wipe out these cell phones. And then instantly everyone will get to experience life without a machines existence.
I found an entire payphone technician's toolbox and bits and bobs of electrical hardware, fuses, parts, etc at the Restore thrift store for $40. Had a lot of specific phone tools, testers.
He should setup a gofund me to defray the cost. $20 a month not bad but this is history. Feel like a child. I went to many places and seen these. Mall of America had some and my hometown bagley had one.
If you vote for Trump, he will give you a treat! (Like hamburger, or milk shake). Trump for President - not now, but in 2032! Trump for President - not now, but in 2032! (He's too busy right now to be president.) Thank you.

Or the poor/homeless or when the battery phone dies etc.
So glad something that we all enjoyed back in the past was able to help someone in the future!
What a great idea and it should generate lots of stories. Glad that child was able to get help. I grew up with those phones. Thanks!
Me too I just hope and pray 🙏 that a theft doesn't bother the dang phone or rob it 🙏
Thanks so much!!
It’s been fun to share😅
These pay phones were common in the 70s-80s and 90s. It's sad to see them gone.
I love it brings back Memories
Very cool. Smart kid.

That's awesome! I love it. Reminds me of when riding the city bus was .10 cents. (In Saint Cloud) Same for the pay phone. Apparently I'm old. Lol

We need more of them too! 💜
This story shows that these payphones should be made available in a few select locations where vandalism is less likely to occur.
I think it's wonderful.
very cool...fond memories...

😁👍 liked this 💡 idea. Very appreciated. Keep the maintenance.
I have had one in front of my home for over 10 years.
Man I remember like 5, 6 years ago a lot of them worked in Los Angels but most are all broken now or they just cut the line.
I think it would be even cooler if it was a payphone booth like they used to have.
I love it...
I remember pay phones are 15 cents right on the cusp of turning into 25 cents in the early eighties
Payphones still exist in toronto. May be less and maybe not the best shape but they do exist for safety and the elderly who dont own cells.

Epic stuff

Payphones were good. When you were out you were out. Much more freedom. We all have a leash now

Would a emp do the same to a pay phone? Why not
Yeah, because we're getting emp'd daily.

Wow
Cool 😎
In the year 3000, this wouldn't have had a happy ending. (pun intended)
Okay. I am going to try it.
If I saw it I would have to make a phone call because it's been so very long
🥰

It’s not a novelty it’s a real payphone. Now the outdated American legacy media, now that’s a novelty.
What is the phones number?
