T&H is quite a fun youtube channel you watch and Christian is very enthusiastic. However, i bought 1 watch from them and the watch was quite disappointing. Overpriced (over $3,000 for a blue Rolex 1500) the condition it arrived in was terrible. It was all scratched up, over polished uneven lugs, gaskets are all dead and flat. And it was running half a minute slow per day. All this pointing to him never check or service his watch before shipping.

Teddy - thanks for the video - I have some feedback for Bob’s watches. As a seller - I agree with your opinion - I got an absolutely beautiful Rolex 1500 from them several years ago. As a buyer - I do NOT recommend them - I was inexperienced at the time, so I am partly to blame, but I sold them a vintage 6694 for what I realized was a ‘bargain basement’ price, and they sold it for nearly three times what they paid me for it. I understand that they need to make a profit, but geez!

Rolex's are made by the tens of thousands per month. The R&D was done a long, long time ago. Now they are all about fashionable hockey puck sized reinturpitations of their older line.
Avoid plated base metal cases. This goes for chronographs too.
Look for STAINLESS STEEL cases and vintage manufacturers that made their own movements.
About "mid sized" watches : the men that wore them and depended on them won wars, built roads, trains, airplanes and cars. They pioneered open heart surgery and contributed to the arts and literature. They were reporters that burned a lot of shoe leather to bring an intelligent audience fair and balanced information. They pushed the speed of sound and left the Earths atomsphere. Not a single one of them stopped, looked at their wrist and uttered "I wish I had a wall clock stapled to my wrist".
So please do go buy a Rolex and a chronograph with complications you'll use twice a year and spend a fortune on maintaining.

And they don't give you a full refund if there's something wrong with the watch they send you. I'm dragging up an ᴏʟᴅ post here...
And I'm going waayy off piste.
Don't write off a Mumbai Special.
    There. I said it.
I'm ɴᴏᴛ saying ᴅᴏɴ’ᴛ ʙᴇ sᴄᴀʀᴇᴅ! But I am saying, categorically: ᴅᴏɴ’ᴛ ᴡʀɪᴛᴇ ᴛʜᴇᴍ ᴏғғ!
Let me explain. We're obviously not talking about high-end watches. But if, like me, you are reasonably heeled in the knowledge side of the hobby, but are yet to dive head first into the vintage side, there are, if you look carefully, long term sellers with 100% feedback.
ɪғ you know how to spot obvious frankens and ɪғ you know how to spot repainted dials & ill fitting mov'ts and ɪғ you know how to do basic research, you can find a very decent watch.
I've bought 2 vintage Ricoh pieces. Not an illustrious brand, but some very good design with surprising quality.
If you are able to find 2 watches from India that are very uncommon, in very original condition and and very reliable (I'm talking haven't skipped a beat in 3 & 1.5yrs respectively) for about $40 a pop, let's just say it helps one feel confident about purchasing a vintage piece from a ʀᴇʟɪᴀʙʟᴇ source! 🤷‍♂️

Do not buy watches from Van Rijk. In Toronto …. All watches are sold “as is”, meaning that some are little more than costume jewelry. They also do not professionally stand behind their warranty and authenticity claims. June 2023.

I absolutely love watches, the high end watch brands are out of my budget but the MAMACOO has literally an almost duplicate of every single watch on the market . Always a great but no matter your budget.

How about Pawn shops and yard sales? I found a Seiko 6309 (1978) in excellent condition in a small out of the way pawn/jewerly shop in my local Chinatown. Paid $150.

". LOVE". is a Special word to be used for human references. Like:I love my Parents or I love my Brother. So You won't say "I "love" fish or "I love" steak. Instead say "I "Like" steak.or Like fish. Leaving the word LOVE in its special place and meaning (and less exagerated) use for the ones you 💘.

Great video, Teddy! My bread and butter would be vintage omegas. Seamasters, constellations, de ville, you name it. It's just something about these vintage omegas that just gets me so intrigued.

Nerfe, I totally agree with you on this. The moment I started learning more about Omega Constellations, Omega Seamasters, and Devilles I was hooked. I love my constellation and imagine buying another vintage Omega in the future. Anything specific you have your eye on or what you are looking to own in the future?

I'm not sure how helpful this is for "beginners." One of these places has a special section for "watches under $2000."
Where would you go if you wanted a clean example of one of the many brands that were in competition with Rolex and Omega in the 50s-60s-70s, but have now died or been absorbed? Eterna, Certa, Certina, Betina, Elgin, Enicar, Gruen, Lemania, Smiths, Wittnauer. There are dozens, all entirely comparable to Omega or Rolex when they were made, but dealers aren't interested because they sell for well under $1000.

If you can afford to service a vintage watch frequently, then buy. Also they are more fragile and need to be extra careful . I wouldn’t recommend them for those reasons.

Hi Teddy. What were the names of the owners of the shop based out of Hong Kong? I met a couple of guys in Rome last week and they showed some stunning vintage time pieces. One mentioned he was based in Hong Kong but they are originally from Italy. Mauricio was one guys name. I forget the other.

While Love and appreciate the value and beauty of watches like Rolex and the like, and even the very high stratashare of watches, you know the ones that cost 35,000.
But in my wold Its a 35, dollar Timex Ironman that I've had for more yrs then I can remember, and a smartwatch that 3 yrs old, and lately doesn't like to charge the way it should.
The idea of getting a vintage watch as Old as I am, 1961, and several other nicer looking dress watches is something I'd like to afford sometime.
But there is NO WAY in this world that I will ever be in a position to put down the kinds of money that the watches on these site list for.
So for me at least it was an exercise in daydreaming and wasting time to look up these sites.
So I'd like to suggest you do something on finding vintage watches that are a more affordable price, in 50-100, dollar range, and what to look for in brands that are overlooked and still good quality.

either take a chance on saving money buying from an "unknown" dealer or pay a whole load more buying from a "trusted" dealer. Either way, you are screwed. It's a matter of who you wanna be screwed by.

What are your thoughts on Tourneau? I'm looking to buy a vintage Rolex. I was thinking they would be a good option since they are an authorized Rolex dealer, they inspect each piece and replace any faulty parts with parts from the manufacturer, plus they offer a 2-year warranty on their pre-owned watches. They are expensive but all of these things make me feel okay with spending the extra money.
