This is the one I have been carrying everyday since I purchased my first one; I liked it so much I bought three... Note: I am a hardcore Andrew Demko, Cold Steel, Tri-Ad Lock Lover. But, this new, 2020, Axis-Lock, U.S. Made, Blacked Out, Tactical Stiletto from Benchmade absolutely "ROCKS!" Peace, Stiletto :-)
AXIS locks love being scribbled on with pencils. Graphite powder is a good dry lube and doesn't catch dirt and debri like oils... ya know... kinda like the graphite powder you squirt into lock tumblers.
My only complaint about this knife after 2 years with it. Is that the glass cutter tip rips the hell up out of your clothes. Otherwise, it's everything I want in a self-defense tool.
When I first got this knife it was really hard to close the knife , the lock would get stuck. But like he said add some lube and play around with it and now it’s perfect. I have no complaints and recommend this to anyone that’s thinking of getting this blade. This knife is also really large , thanks for the video.
It's been awhile since I watched a Chris video....You are still one of the first knife channels I've ever watched on UA-cam and inspired me to start my own years ago....I still remember all the Esee knife videos you use to do in your tent in the yard lol...Keep rockin bud
I like the idea. I handled one yesterday at the gun store and it is very light very thin not so obtrusive in the pocket even compared to other Benchmade offerings. Compare to the bug-out it's much better as a yawara stick and it has some function in an emergency crash but also as a friend of mine a journalist, his day job is security guard, also used his Cold steel tilite as a yawara to take out an aggressor. I've trained more Martial Blades Concepts -slashing rather than stabbing but this could do in a pinch. It's also modeled after the Sykes Fairbairn pattern of knives which I've informally trained in. Lastly it's really just a folding paring knife so you can even use it in the kitchen.
I have two benchmade knives the first was/is the Elishawietz striker that I have used to cut through 4/0 welding cable by pulling through by hand pressure, no sawing !
When he said $160, I was surprised. I figured we were looking at 2 bills. I have a Benchmade Presidio (which I love- it's my EDC) I gave $140 for, and this is way more knife. Thanks Chris! Love your vids.
Mine cost $96 new in factory box. I carry it daily It's my first axis lock model. Carry an Infidel blue limited and a Kershaw launch 6. My SOCP had virtually no break in time. Works smoothly one handed
I have the original liner lock version. I like it so much I’ve been contemplating getting the axis lock one too, but I just don’t know what I would do with two of these monsters! I hope my video on it was helpful if it was one of the ones you watched before your purchase. Thanks for all you do for the knife community!
Peyote Pete cold steel doesn’t use the same quality steel or the axis lock mechanism. Cold Steels are good knives, but they’re not anywhere near the level of craftsmanship you get with benchmade. And they’re made in China, or whatever southeast Asian country they use.
Peyote Pete you sound like a poor. If you think cold steel makes better knives than benchmade, your opinion is worthless and has zero value amongst real knife owners. Go play with your legos and tonka trucks kid
@@hecticXx Not entirely accurate. Lots of Cold Steel knives, like the Frenzy, are made in Taiwan and use excellent steels like S35VN and 3V. I have some Cold Steel folders in CTS-XHP too. Lest you think Taiwan only turns out inferior products, Spyderco's Taichung, Taiwan production facility turns out some of their nicest blades!
I just bought this knife yesterday. It works fine except for when I wrist flick it open. When I do that the lock gets stuck. I actually had to use a tiny rubber mallet from my gunsmiths toolbox to tap downward on the locking release button.
Your videos are awesome ,they are so informative and in depth and have helped me with choosing products when i need additional information. Your channel has to be one of my favorites on UA-cam keep up the great work!!!!
You get what you pay for, my $120 knife has been worked on everything I've used it on every day for 2 years. I will have it till I die then my children will have an amazing knife. When I spend that much money on a knife, that's what your getting. Awesome vid, I like that knife.
The SOCP is a far better designed knife and the quality of materials are superior to the tilite. I have one of them as well. Happy with both but much happier with my SOCP.
Yea except the ti-lite doesn’t use the axis lock. The axis lock is in my opinion the strongest locking mechanism for any folding knife available. But for the most part they are the same knife. Anybody who says the benchmade is leaps and bounds above the ti-lite is just simping for benchmade, trying to justify their purchase. The SOCP is a fantastic knife, and it is better than the cold steel. It’s just not INSANELY better than the cold steel.
goreshift axis lock is great imo but u think it’s stronger than triad lock. CS FRENZY FOR THE WIN. that thing is a beast and feels at home in the pocket I can’t think of a stronger folder
Snagged one of those a few weeks ago. Been in pocket ever since, amazing and incredible knife. Break in period was reaaaaaally rough though, lock stick was like pulling something out of a vice.
@@preparedmind101 Blade HQ just told me keep my eyes peeled. It's coming soon. If you look it up on UA-cam it's the spyderco at shot show on the blade hq channel.
It looks like a medium model of a Cold Steel knife. I am 6'4" and like and carry big knifes. My last purchase was a TiLite VI I like a lot. Lots of "stabbyness", and its sharp as can get. You should compare the Benchmade Folder against the TiLite.

You have to do lots of research finding a decent price on most knives as I do. I purchased a Benchmade Infidel limited for $119 & the socp for $96 on the same order. Can't afford unless the price is doable.
Now in 2023, (where a whopper "sandwich" is now $7.49, a gatorade is no longer 32oz, toilet paper has shrunk, Sausalito cookies are only half the cookie they used to be, and minimum wage has tripled in some areas like here in the PNW), $240 on their website. $199 from a local store im about to scoop it up from...

From what i know there is a big difference between Chinese d2 and American d2 like what Medford uses but it looks like a nice knife you should check out heretic otf knives there made by tony marfiones son
Anyone do a meat cut test with this? I just did: one chicken, 10 layers of Saran wrap, a ballistic slash and it only penetrated 2 inches versus my 3 inch yojimbo 2 which penetrated 2 3/4 inches on the same test. My 5 and 1/2 inch French trade knife penetrated 3 and 1/4 inches as did my Ronin 2. There is a very nice video of a trainer from the bartitsu system on how to use the Sykes Fairbairn pattern knife which this seems most similar to. In that video he smashes at hands and arms which I suppose might penetrate enough depending upon the amount of clothing your attacker was wearing but then again there were a number of thrusts as well so I guess that's the primary purpose of the blade aside from smashing out car windows in a wreck. Also security guard buddy of mine in Leningrad used a similar knife the Cold Steel ti-lite 6-inch to knock out a hooligan. One yawara hit between the eyes and down the hooligan went.
I think the knife is too big. You can't get that into action in a clinch. The original SOCP knives were made to create space from an attacker so you could get to your pistol. I think this is trying to be a stand alone weapon and getting away from the original intent of the SOCP knives.
I seem to remember them helping their local PD do something when asked. Something that isn't new. And then the whole knife community going batshit crazy and building a huge conspiracy out of it. Exactly like these cancel culture whackjobs running amok and burning buildings because someone decided it was somehow racist. No different. But if people want to play pretend that with everything happening today, somehow Benchmade is the biggest threat to America... That's their buisness.
@@preparedmind101 I think it's more than pretend,....they have a history of supporting anti-second amendment Democrats. Anyway, the optics were something they should have realized were not good.
This would have been a great knife if the blade was straight for effortless penetration because it’s a self defense knife and if it was a flipper because the thumb disk impedes full penetration. Great grippy scales for hitting bones in self defense though. Could have been a masterpiece if they would have made these changes. They should contact me before they release flawed designs.
Benchmade makes a decent knife, I have seven of them in my collection. I quit buying them and here is why. I live about 80 miles from their facility in Oregon City and am fully aware of their libtard practices. The commies in the greater Portland area sponsored a gun destruction campaign and benchmade made their plant available to melt them down. It’s a shame really, I had them build a custom crooked river to commemorate my father who served multiple tours in Vietnam in the U.S. Army. When I heard this for the first time myself I researched it trying to prove it wrong. Sure as shit, they are commies.
Benchmade edges are garbage. I ran the clerk through two others of the same model that had horrible edge geometry at the tip before choosing mine. That price shouldn't have such noticeable fluctuations in quality. It's whatever. I love AXIS knives and I usually resharpen factory edges within hours of purchase.

Except the knife's designer is Greg Thompson who trains guys in Spec Ops, and the SOCP program is his program. Not so gimmicky.

That's when I deploy my Infidel otf. That what it's for. I use it for personal protection and make cuts with my socp, launch 6, or Buck 119
@@ScottSmith-lx5xb You must look cool carrying 4 knives for different tasks.
I seem to remember Benchmade being anti-gun....
I like it for SD, thx
XL Fact
Benchmade makes a decent knife, I have seven of them in my collection. I quit buying them and here is why. I live about 80 miles from their facility in Oregon City and am fully aware of their libtard practices. The commies in the greater Portland area sponsored a gun destruction campaign and benchmade made their plant available to melt them down. It’s a shame really, I had them build a custom crooked river to commemorate my father who served multiple tours in Vietnam in the U.S. Army. When I heard this for the first time myself I researched it trying to prove it wrong. Sure as shit, they are commies.
Bench made knives will do what many knives including cold steel will not do.
Mine was fine. I honed it because I always do.
