    Perhaps a moisture absorber and an oxygen absorber in the vacuum sealed package.

    You should’ve cut open the juice and apple sauce. I don’t think it affects the taste all that much but those bags are bad about molding at the bottom.

  • @cocacolafiesta
    @cocacolafiesta 3 роки тому +1

    I know you mentioned your bags went through extreme cold and heat and thought you made a mention of Parump but saw on your comment that you were 60 miles from Vegas. I live in Henderson and the extreme heat is my concern but living in a small home with my sisters and husband (we’re all seniors) we’re bursting at the seams and at least this lets me know if I’ve had something in the garage I may have overlooked and not brought into the house during our hot season then it may still be ok after initial taste, smell and look test. Thanks for all your videos and the freeze dried raw shrimp I ordered from the company you recommended should be here on Monday. There should be a way that the company should credit you for those recommendations.

    Capri Sun. Good idea actually it last way longer than one would think. When I was a child my family bought a box of Capri Sun. When it came out the pouches were see through by the way. In around the early 80s. It got shoved to the back of the cupboard and not drank and about 9 years later I found it. As a teenager! And we tried it. And it was fine

    • @Iridium242

      Iridium242 oh! No I didn’t get a new e mail from you actually. I’m sorry maybe it accidentally went to another folder? Thank you so much! Am I supposed to track it or anything if so might want to resend ?

    • @Iridium242

      ok I re-sent it from a different email, it might have got stuck in your spam filter since it had a tracking number in it. Anyway it will be there according to UPS on the 8th!

    • @AKayfabe

      Iridium242 ok just now I had a e mail come through from you yes. It was probably just delayed. That’s been happening on gmail this whole week but yes I got the tracking. Thank you so much!
      It might have suddenly gone through when I tried to click on one of our older messages in my inbox. It’s odd but at least it’s here now

    good follow up video, a lot of people get confused I think with "best by" dates and think the food is no good (well anything fresh yes) but canned or vacuumed package can last years, might not taste the freshest but a person can figure it out by smell or taste, like the peanut butter/crackers they were ok but not fresh

    • @ianharvey868
      @ianharvey868 4 роки тому

      Here in the UK it's a bit more simple, sell by, use by, best before.
      Sell by is used by the shops to sell before that date to allow the customer chance to eat the item before the use by date, such items include eggs etc.
      Use by is for the consumer to eat before the end of that day to be within a safety margin of not eating something that will cause a poison effect, on such products like fresh meat and fish etc, these items usually can be small in size or quantity and is usually possible to eat or cook the same day to be part refrigerated to finish after once cooked.
      Best before is just a "quality control" usually items will not spoil that will be poisonous but may taste wrong, there is companies that use this date system to force sales of goods, such like chocolate, there may be bargain boxes of chocolate around special events like Christmas but the date may be finished before the next event like let's say Easter or valentines day.

    Last time I ate Spam I was 10 years old. I remember my dad (he ate Spam, my mom didn't like it) he taught me how to use the key to open the can.
    I'm currently 42 years old.

    I can't believe it's been that long... 😓 time slips away from us even if we enjoy life...
    I always enjoy your content. However, I don't have the time to review or reply to every video. I just want to personally thank you for the time, money, and effort you apply to these videos. You have no idea how much of an impact you make. Throughout the small channels your name is mention. Thanks for being a quite swell guy with out a big head.

    I wonder If you could take a small mylar bag and add a can of Hormel Chilli to it, then vacuum seal bag ? Not only chilli but anything that has been canned ? So instead of 1 slice of spam for 2 bucks buy a can and get 6 slices for 3 bucks

    Was any of that past the exp. date and still good? Typically they're still good. Clif bars are a notable exception. In my experience they get hard,dry, and funky before they exp.
    I'm gonna make some of those. I'll look for good options at Costco.

    I love Spam but I miss the jelly part that used to form in the cans of the 80s.
    I'm curious if you think something like one of those individual oil based dressings, a soy sauce or say individual peanut butter would keep well to add some fat/flavour to the rice? Or would the flavored Uncle Ben rice's hold up as well as the plain. Might be nice to have a little flavour in shtf/emergency situations.

      Same here in Nevada, I try to keep freeze dried entrees in there mostly, I rotate them out every year before the summer and I have yet to get a bad one. I do keep a few MREs as well, I did a video a while back where I had forgotten to take one MRE out and it was in my vehicle for 2 years, was still perfect, even through two long nevada summers. Generally because of the heat you have to check on stuff often but those Mountain House Freeze dried entrees do last a good long time in the heat.
