How to Make Chicken Fried Steak Sandwiches with Mason Hereford
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 сер 2019
- Mason Hereford of Turkey and the Wolf and Molly’s Rise and Shine in New Orleans makes chicken fried steak sandwiches in the MUNCHIES Test Kitchen.
Thick-cut buttery bread is filled with homemade coleslaw using Mason’s favorite mayo, Duke’s, and crispy fried steak that’s topped with chicken seasoning for an extra flavor boost. Pepper jelly and pickles add a spicy, sweet, tangy kick to this comforting and filling sandwich.

"Make it as salty as you can without it tasting salty" is the BEST description of seasoning ever. That is EXCELLENT, Mason Hereford! You are a genius!
that's a very Australian-looking American man
Sandro Grandi holy shit he is indeed
I had the exact same thought!
and the charisma of a doorknob
Believe it or not every white American male looked like this throughout the 70-90s. It just stuck with some people 😂
Oddly, chicken salt is a common seasoning in Australia
The distance this dude took pouring the mayo into the bowl. Chaotic energy
props to the editing crew for that synchronization at 2:10! your work doesn't go unnoticed!
This guy puts everything on thick cut white bread
I think he's trying to tell us something...
He signed his divorce papers on thick cut white bread too
its a white ppl thing
@@soldn6068 it's a New Orleans thing you either have Fresh French bread or thick white bread
@@soldn6068 You should get out more if you think it's a white thing lmao
This dude has spent the majority of his adult life under the influence of something and now his life is devoted to making those crazy munchies sandwich ideas. What a legend.
Seasoning with bouillon blew my mind. Genius. Will try this for sure
Marco Pierre White has been paid to do this for years
Joshua Horwitz I used to do that with my French fries. I’d use salt mixed with a bit of chicken bouillon mixed in
Alot of asian food does this

Thank you I will try this.
Go easy, its loaded with sodium
I could listen to this guy talk for hours just cause he reminds me of everyone’s favorite stoner who comes up with out of left field ideas and actually follows through on them
Legit got stressed when he started violently shredding the cabbage in the mandolin. Those things are vicious for blood.
Josh DeYoung I know right! That’s always what gets me when I watch people cook haha.
I've cut myself more with a mandolin than I ever have with a knife, violent little things
OMG Check This Out I Was Using The Stand- Up Mandolin When It Slipped I Tried To Quickly Catch It And Literally It Took A Chunk Out My F#ckin Right Thumb.😫😫 "Damn You Mandolin"

After how many beers lol
That bread hack technique had my mind = blown! Thanks for the awesome tip Mason, whenever I make grilled cheese sandwiches or something and I place it evenly on the plate, the bottom part sogs out quick due to the steam escaping and it feels rather sloggy when eating, so this technique will be very handy.
I don’t mean to be telling stories outside of school but I’ve been doing that since i learned to work a toaster.
Never have I needed something so bad and didn’t realize it.
Hello from Metairie!
Wanna go?
@@cabbagequeen wanna meet up and try one?
If you guys pay for my plane ticket i'll pay for the sandwich!
Grandmaster Kush lmao
Wait so did they take this off of the menu?

Well, probably you hipster guys at least think that's the case... 😅😅😅
There is so much flavor in this recipe; great list of complementing ingredients. I feel like I can taste the sandwich already and want to eat two more. Man, this has reached the apex of my tryout recipes. Don't you hate it when people comment on a recipe and they haven't even made it?
Mason is such a chefs chef. I love that he took it off the menu after the article. Reminds me of the gnocchi we had featured in an article only I could make. A fun special turned into a months long tedium.
This dudes less than glamorous method and description of his cooking process is probably the most accurate to what cooking actually is
I met Mason at Molly's one morning and he was the nicest most genuine person. It was our sons 5th birthday, Mason heard and gave him an awesome vintage Indiana Jones McDonalds toy as a present. Food is amazing as well.
A wholesome dude that’s informative and chill. Wonderful.
I love that Munchies is just as much about people and stories as it is about food. ❤️
Make this sandwich again at your shop!!! It’s so missed by everyone!
This may be the best thing I've ever seen. I'm tingly in my where I shouldn't be.
I'm digging that Acid Trip book on the shelf.
This dude truly cooks like a Cajun chef because of the fact that he doesn’t measure anything he goes by true taste alone.
Glad he taught us how to make this since you can't get in from a restaurant anymore 👍🏻
The Count your mother
I live in New Orleans and his restaurants are my favs, always new crazy stuff that works and tastes amazing
loved to see you use Duke's for the slaw. It was created in my hometown of Greenville, SC and we even have the original plant still pumping it out every day!
Mason! Turkey and the Wolf is probably my most missed restaurant since moving away from Nola. Remember getting this on the og menu when it 1st opened around 3 years ago to this day. Thanks for sharing and come pop up here in Nashville man, nothing like it anywhere here!
Calm down and relax.
Roger Hernandez nah it’s his opinion let him get hyped
UA-cam trolls are great...I know the guy and they were always super cool with my son when we'd go in. Mason and his whole team are just good people. Don't knock the food til you've had it.
@@Fartucus you're an idiot
I’m from radford and have family in Charlottesville! It’s great to see locals make it!!

That was going to be my second choice for a comment 😂
What the fuck is a semi pro roller blader
"....and uh, now I think it's gonna be great. I'm really excited." in the most deadpan voice ever
This is everything I want in a sandwich, actually everything I want in a meal period!

Reminder that this fine gentleman was once a semi pro, SPONSORED, rollerblader
