Cristóbal Balenciaga founded his fashion house in 1918. In a Civil War context, this talented Spaniard was forced to move to Paris. There, he established The New House of Balenciaga. Soon, he started to be recognized for his silhouettes. The high-waist dresses, the sculpted shoulders and kimono-style coats were some of the innovative features that this fashion genius showed in his collections. He was nicknamed as “The King” and “, The Da Vinci of that renaissance of silk and crinolines”.
He combined the purest French refinement with the strength of Spain. The cult-status Balenciaga has been maintained throughout the decades.
In 2012, Alexander Wang, known for his punk and sporty style, was appointed as the firm’s creative director. He manages to maintain the high Balenciaga standards with a touch of fresh air and new sophisticated looks. The Balenciaga bags, Velo and City Classic, are timeless iconic items that remain the most coveted accessories for fashion insiders, throughout the years.
