What is happening to the “genre” of rap back in the day it was a game,competition and personal opinions on their own beliefs as a rapper, now people are scared to express their true feeling about their rap and their pen but why do rappers think they need to go and be violent and end in blood when it’s an sporting competition to whose better and not who’s gonna do something to one another all we want is a challenge it’s like a 100m sprint all we want to see is a great race but we don’t want to see other man tripping up people but we want a challenge that goes down to the wire

In my opinion: JCole didn't apologize to Kendrick. He apologized for the getting out of his mental element and falling into the negative pressure around him to do a 7 minute drill of negative bars about music he actually likes
J. Fold shouldn't have done this speech. The bars aren't personal. It's just playing the game. It'll keep us entertained and boost their sales and reputation. Literally a win-win.

I feel blessed being a fan of UK Rap honestly, we know how to CLASH on this side. Sick of pretending that "the big 3" could hang bar for bar with the top artists in the UK. You telling me that Chip or Ghetts wouldn't body Cole, KDot and Aubrey in a beef. Cole will forever be a great artist but can no longer be held in the conversation of greatest MCs.

Brother what you don't know is, Nas was so upset because of the loss of his mother, he wanted to take Jay out physically. He was talked off the ledge, but Ether was PERSONAL. That beef could have easily been another Biggie and Pac. It's not about the guys involved, it's about the entourages, the "fans" that might take it too serious.

He probably caught a look at himself and didn't like what he saw. He would have destroyed Kendrick and probably figured that appealing to everyone else's lust of destruction just wasn't for him.
He mentioned spirituality so I'm guessing he is following his heart here and doing his best to avoid any form of 'destruction lust'. It's all-too-prevalent in today's society, plus with everything that is going on in the world today.... It's almost too easy to go for the kill.
He decided to choose peace and I honestly respect him for that. It's not the final chapter but at least Cole will know he tried.
Some of the most popping times in uk grime was rappers sending for eachother a competition of bars and writing, cole has been called out by kendrick first on control and too now he's made his position clear he wants too be tested

Also, the song that Cole follows this speech with ("Love Yourz") includes the line: "Momma, please, why you be drinking all the time?" If you have addictive traits in your family and have yourself been addicted before, then distancing yourself from conflict seems like a safe move...
People would really rather have Cole beef/make diss tracks than live, smdh.

I’ve been having a re listen to the respective catalogues and don’t have a horse in this race - listened to too much gangstarr, wu, mobb deep etc to care - buuut I still appreciate the “top 3’s” abilities and wanted to see this play out.
