▶️ Hey Guys! 👋 I have received several questions about where to find those angle corner clamps. You can find them here : amzn.to/3Ek14s5 ( Affiliate link )
I don't work with wood, never have but along the inside rails for the straps, could you not set the straps to sit flush with the top edge of rails, connecting the straps together along the underside so you can lift all the straps at same time to clean underneath the bed, by sitting them inside the rails you wouldn't need to screw them down, or you could possibly put a hinge on the frame for the strap?
Oh, what a brilliant idea! And of course, I absolutely cannot wait to gather all the necessary tools for this little endeavour. Oh, the joy of searching and gathering tools. I'm positively thrilled!
I’m redoing my bed frame to something like this. Currently the mattress sits on a flat surface and I’ve never had a problem with the mattress sliding out. You must be more rambunctious in your bed! 😂
I need a new bed and the prices in the furniture stores are frightening plus the quality isn’t amazing. So, I’ll make my own. Thank you for your video and ideas.
Thank you for the video. I was going to buy something like this but now I think I'm going to build it. I work as a mechanic so I have basic hand skills and I own almost all of the tools you have so thanks for that man, I really appreciate it 😊
Me and my father in law are building this bedframe right now with a few modifications: Using the advice in the comments, the length of the boards are being adjusted and the slats sunken in about an inch so the mattress sits in place instead of directly on top. We’re also cutting out parts of both sides of the headboard to fit in an outlet/usb charger hub. Using a hole saw, we drilled through the headboard underneath the platform on either side so LED light strips can be routed through and assembled underneath to give it an ambient glow. Awesome video!
Man, this bed looks amazing. I love the sturdiness of it. It looks simple, yet very beautiful. You definitely picked the right color. That's definitely the bed I wana make.
If you are inspired by this recording you have the skill to build it!! This is not an especially difficult design, and is an absolutely beautiful finish. You will love this so much more than asembling flat pack furniture (which happens to be something I do as a side business)
Lmfao I bought an ikea king malm. About to put it together and was like make I can build one. After seeing this I'm back to I can barely put the ikea together
It was going to go this way at first, and changed my mind but it's still not to late. I tough it would be easier to changer the sheets if the mattress was flush but i don't think it changed anything. So you could lower the 2x4 and the joist hangers by 1 or 2 inches. I think it will look slightly better! 🙂
xoHiba xo my bed is just like this one where the mattress is flush to the frame. Way simpler to change sheets. Only time the mattress moves is during strenuous extracurricular activities
I agree with you, I’m currently building mine and setting it 1.5 inches deep to hide the slats. That’s basically the depth of top horizontal piece. Lucky for me my mattress is light though so my wife won’t have trouble changing the sheets lol
@@dalechell1085 Could one not reduce the frame size slightly but keep everything at the same level? Then you've got the mattress mostly over the slats but partly over the frame to ensure slats will not be visible. Maybe 1" overlap of mattress on frame.
ikr the mcoys in the town next to me has over priced and badly handled lumber/ plyboard but if i drive a hour or two home depot sells better quality wood for cheaper the hell is this bs ??!
I'm very seriously considering building this bed frame, but the plans are for king size and I need a queen. Any advice on how to adjust the dimensions for a queen before I get started?
I love the look of this bed. I however Hve a box spring and dint want to get rid of it incase its needed in the future would it be possible to not use the supports for mattress and slide the box spring inside the frame?
Simple and very nice 👍, this about as easy as it gets for a beginner or even skilled craftsman not looking to over complicate things or break the bank. Nice job.
Well done!, Sir. You've tangiblelized what has been floating in my brain. I appreciate you sharing with the world, and another compliment is on how precise and to the point your video is. I'd keep checking more vids. As u post them
Thanh Quach I recently bought the supplies to make the frame, not the headboard (I have a different design in mind) and spent roughly $80 on the wood. It all depends on the quality of it. He (and I) used framing lumber which is cheaper but you need to pick the straightest pieces to make the job easier.
I love this wood working book *TopFineWoodworking. Com* . A few of the topics talked about in the book include wood working strategies, explanation on the development cycles of trees, and various lumber characteristics that craftsmen favor. I also provided my father another copy.
Not really, in fact there is no glue in this build, only pocket screws. Sure you will need to remove the lattice that i nailed on the top, but other than that its 5 big pieces, the 4 sides and the headboard. I think i would take me half an hour to dissasemble it. Remember that its regular wood screw that connect each side to each other, so if you move every years maybe the screws will become loose but it my case i dont plan to move alot. In case screws would become loose, you could add metal corner inside the frame. 👍😄
I just built one almost exactly like this. 2x8’s 2x6’s and sunk the mattress 2” into the frame with 2x4 slats. Stained black and looks amazing. Could park my truck on this thing.
This was a super super video man so detailed if you would add a floating feature to the based this would be a flawless bed build.. But rarely people take the time to do such an amazing job for a bed where you sped 40% of your life in
If I wanted to make a den area for my dogs to sleep in under my bed, could I just add another layer of base to make the bed sit taller? Or is this not a smart idea. I have not seen this design yet but want to have it for my two pups who like having nooks to nap.
Amazon bed. Looks so solid. I wonder if you would be better using bed brackets for the frame as they easily allow disassembly. As it stands your bed need to be unscrewed and re- screwed which will weaken the structure.

Hi. What would you do if you wanted to make the bed higher off of the floor
Love it up
Combien ça coûterait les matériaux à peu près
why not juse use 4x skids for free and ad some fancy on the outside and save 90% of cost
I’ve been working with wood my whole life, I can attest this is one solid piece. The info is clear and to the point. Very well done, sir.
That’s what she said
What size bed did you make this for

This is incredibly sturdy compared to what is minimally required. Looks amazing
Why the hell would anyone dislike this video? It was great and gives another cool option to build a base for a bed. Nice job man.
It's the internet lol, if there was a video where the world would end when someone clicks the dislike button I assure you someone will press it 😂
Those who can, do! Those who can’t, criticize!
@@Blahbee yes I disliked it because it says 5 mins, its kinda clickbait.
Cause they lazy and don’t know how to be creative so they hate

I would have had the slats sitting 2 inches lower into the frame so the mattress doesn't slide about, but very well made bed overall
Same! But still a great build overall!
I agree..great tip.
I’m doing this frame with a few modifications as this and the head board with 3 boards
Just built mine sat the 2/4 ledger 2inches below the top of the frame, bed sits in prefect.

I didnt think I could build a shed but I did and it is awesome. I have never made furniture and this is going to be my first project!
This bed certainly looks better and of course stronger than many expensive beds on the market, and it has a cool rustic look to it too, AWESOME WORK!
Glad you like it! Thank you Miguel! :)
Yes a similar looking bedframe like this would go for at least 1k, and be of trash quality
Amazing that you took the time to show us and even give the entire plan..thank you.🙌
Glad it was helpful! :)
I agree! Yes, thank you. My son needs a sturdy bed. He's 6' 5" 335lb and only 18. Again, THANKS A BUNCH!
Great work; you build with "overkill." That will become a family heirloom!
This makes me want to make a new bed frame!!!
My brother and I built this. Thx man 👨 looks awesome 👏
That's awesome! 😄
I want to do this now but I personally would lower the support a little bit just to get the mattress to sink in maybe 1 - 2 inches. What do you think?
It was going to go this way at first, and changed my mind but it's still not to late. I tough it would be easier to changer the sheets if the mattress was flush but i don't think it

Why does it seem like everyone else home improvement store has GREAT lumber and MINE always has shitty lumber? LMAO

Nicely done. Wish i had the tools like you especially that vacumm attachment.
The moment you accidentally kick the corner of the bed is the moment you fall in love with these kind of the bed design
Until u smash your shin on the corner 😆
absolutely
I had a mental image of kicking the corner in the dead of the night and me hopping on one leg and muttering muffled nasty cusses😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
lol i totally agree with you on the other hand i have heard this type of bed has its advantages during exercise events
with the ladies
!
You’re not wrong.
This is the first video of these that I think I could pull off 🥳 looks great and sturdy!
Love!! Exactly what I’ve been looking for! It came out beautiful!
I also agree that having the slats sitting lower in the frame will keep the mattress in place better! It's still a great build!
I'm very seriously considering building this bed frame, but the plans are for king size and I need a queen. Any advice on how to adjust the dimensions for a queen before I get started?
Here's everything you need to know about bed frame dimensions www.dimensions.guide/collection/bed-frames
Followed plans, edited to increase height of headboard, and made for Cal King size. Love it. I am so glad I found your video. Ping me for photos.
Wonderful! 😀 I would like to see photos for sure!
Any idea how I would convert these exact plans into a queen bed, didn't realize this was for a king until I bought all the supplies
Hunter Novak look up the measurement for a queen and then a king mattress and the numbers will tell between that and his specs on the king frame

Lol with the price of wood right now, I'm guessing it'll break the bank.
it's got to be over 200 lbs i don't think so
Love this!! I think I'm going to build this! Cheaper than buying! Yes, I do have these tools

Rounding over the edges and corners of the frame with a router will make it more forgiving when you bump into it.
It hasn't happened to me yet, but it has happened to my wife several times 😅 Ouch
That's a beautiful frame. The only thing I would have done different was, rounded the bed frame corners for safety reasons.
