I think it should not be needed, ordinary Boxer briefs can meet the needs of running, running fits the swing of the body and Boxer briefs is affordable, I usually wear underwear Smaconsum, with its elasticity and pure cotton material is enough
I actually use underwear with everything, even shorts with liners or tights... just have been doing it since I was young. What I have been doing to avoid shafting in the back for certain ones, is wear them inside out and I avoid the tag rubbing in the back.
Using synthetic "athletic" underwear (having switched over 100% several years ago), means I can wear my shorts longer before needing to switch to a clean pair. Until I get a GPS watch, I'll be running with my phone in my shorts (I've found that way more comfortable and less fuss than some kind of belt). That means I'm more picky about what shorts I run in, and they end up costing more, so I don't have a ton of pairs of them. Now that it's hot, at the end of the week for my long run I'll just go with the built-in liners. And for the synthetic underwear I have right now, I went full dad mode and bought several of the Reebok multi-packs at Sam's. 😋 I'd prefer a shorter inseam, but hey, at $12-$13 for a 4-pack I'm not going to complain much!

i usually don't get chafing if there's a liner, so it's not something that's come up for me previously. but since i've started running in linerless compression half shorts, i've encountered some issues which necessitated this inquiry.
After years of running I just recently started running with no underwear except on a few days I feel like I need compression shorts. All my running shorts have liners
Mike Wertz I bought those from Dick's too. They have large seams and chafed me on longer runs. They are actually meant for cyclists. I've found that chaffing occurs for me after running distances of about 10k.
It is completely unnecessary to wear underwear under tights, tights are the solution to heat and sweat.. and that's actually the reason run with tights.
Having watched your video, I went out and tried running commando with my tights, and am convinced that I need a pair of underwear with my lululemon tights. I have been running with my regular cotton bikini briefs and obviously cotton briefs are a bad idea. I am not a big fan of boxer style briefs because I prefer material separation between my tights and my boys. I find that bikini briefs do a better job of this since they go up one's groins. Lss, I looked at the ExOfficio bikini briefs but decided to cancel the order after reading one of the comments that their sizes run a bit large. He too is a 29 waist and commented that "size Small is still quite big and saggy". Do you find that to be true?
Definitely a neglected topic! I'm usually fine in most shorts that have liners and any shorts that don't I keep for the gym, wearing them with compression shorts underneath. In the cold I'll wear running tights under any shorts. The "modesty" aspect is interesting! I wonder if lots of people feel similarly - avoiding wearing a single compressive layer of tights or half tights that might make that part of the body more conspicuous. Bulge stigma?
Hey you two!! I’m poking around UA-cam trying to find a decent set of underwear … but when you’re wearing good underwear there is no “immodest” bulge. Men have equipment down there that needs support, women have equipment up top that needs support. As athletes (and also, I guess, as people with bodies) these things are a given. You don’t tell women to remove their breasts, and you’re not telling men to remove their whole reproductive organs. The idea is idiotic. I like either short shorts with a high enough cut to allow for full range of motion esp. with stretches, or full length compression pants. I’m not putting a parachute on my waist, think about it - you’re as aerodynamic as it gets, and you’re going to increase drag - why?? It defeats the purpose. I’m also a cyclist and a swimmer, and my head’s too involved in my sport to busy myself with what other people might be thinking about. If you enjoy bulge, great, if you don’t, great, I’m not really here for the aesthetic, I’m here to keep my body nice and healthy, and compete with my friends. That’s my mindset.
Anthony k..I always look at the seam on the inside of the thighs, only spot I ever have had chaffing issues..after several years no issues up to marathon distance..I suspect every runner is more sensitive in different places..one thing I have learned with some running clothes is the seams are rougher on the inside than the outside. .turn the clothes inside out and less irritation ..function over fashion..lol

Short answer is yes! No serious runner is going to go commando. Even if you don't get chafing why would you want your junk bouncing all around on each step?? I hate to say this but if running commando doesn't bother you it probably has to do with "size." I think an average and above man needs undies to keep everything together while you run.

Just ended buying some jockey athletic underwear on clearance and they work fine for now. Way better than my hands boxer briefs. Thanks for this video haha Gave me some brands to look up. Also why are they all so expensive lol.
i usually don't get chafing if there's a liner, so it's not something that's come up for me previously. but since i've started running in linerless compression half shorts, i've encountered some issues which necessitated this inquiry.
I like nike running shorts with a somewhat underwear inside. it makes you comfortable while running.
After years of running I just recently started running with no underwear except on a few days I feel like I need compression shorts. All my running shorts have liners
That used to be the case for me
I have tried most brands and had best success with reebok..about $10/$15 at Dicks..very similar to the ones you liked the best.,airy, soft,no chaffing
Mike Wertz I bought those from Dick's too. They have large seams and chafed me on longer runs. They are actually meant for cyclists. I've found that chaffing occurs for me after running distances of about 10k.
Nike make 2”running shorts without liner?
So then have the choice to go commando or use underwear?
where do you find these shorts? a link please? if so yes you have the choice, full commando avoid chafing of the underwear
I was running commando until I got a free pair of Runderwear boxers which have been great
great to hear!
It is completely unnecessary to wear underwear under tights,
tights are the solution to heat and sweat.. and that's actually the reason run with tights.
Some Nike tights have a liner (half tights with a vertical swoosh on each leg). I would get them except they don't have pockets
It doesn't required supporter please🙏🙏 reply
why he always run in water.. saw this in most of his videos
Hey Mike, what Nike vest is that ? I assume if has a racer style back?
i'm not sure what you mean. can you specify a time frame?
@@kofuzi the navy one you're wearing whilst giving the reviews.
That outro lol, such hype
Thank you
My UA tee I run in is heat gear and it’s thick, so I assumed it was more for winter runs!
this underwear is also thick, but the cold weather stuff is called cold gear. so i'm confused.
I just get brief-lined running shorts.
many tights, for example, are not available with liners
I’m afraid I haven’t tried that style, but I do think that they may a bit roomier. But my regular size works for me
For me i need to wear a spandex or something similar. Even with shorts with liners ill chafe
I like reeboks.
Interesting. I usually find liners to be pretty comfy
@@kofuzi r the liners in your shorts a spandex or are they like swim trunk liners?
like swim trunk liners, but more comfortable
I only wear my short split shorts so I don’t need undies 😌
Split shorts with a line though, right?
kofuzi yes BOA shorts are my fav also my dad ran so I have his old retro shorts😁
NewBalance makes awesome ones in different lengths.
i may have to take a look
Definitely a neglected topic! I'm usually fine in most shorts that have liners and any shorts that don't I keep for the gym, wearing them with compression shorts underneath. In the cold I'll wear running tights under any shorts. The "modesty" aspect is interesting! I wonder if lots of people feel similarly - avoiding wearing a single compressive layer of tights or half tights that might make that part of the body more conspicuous. Bulge stigma?
I've been told frequently it's an American thing
That’s my mindset.
i have patagonia running shorts with liner but it still chafed until i used bodyglide
other than that i use jockey microfiber
I hadn't had to use bodyglide in a couple years, but i think it may be time to revisit
Sir can you plz name the best #fabrics for running clothes/underwears
Plz
Love. From INDIA :)
probably not. If you have chafing though you can use body glide.
That makes no damn sense.
Can i use Dixcy full size underwear i used 4 month for run...can i use regularty or buy suporter
i'm not familiar with that model
@@kofuzi sir so what i do ...pls suggest
Nike are really good and they are available longer length
But no pockets
Anthony k..I always look at the seam on the inside of the thighs, only spot I ever have had chaffing issues..after several years no issues up to marathon distance..I suspect every runner is more sensitive in different places..one thing I have learned with some running clothes is the seams are rougher on the inside than the outside. .turn the clothes inside out and less irritation ..function over fashion..lol
i've not thought to turn underwear inside out
i know this is unrelated but... at 0:30 i honestly thought you were using a drone to get that shot... until i saw the shadow of the stick at 0:38. MY life is a lie
hahahaha! i miss my 360 camera
The best running underwear is the thong, it offers comfort & sense of liberty. 🙂
Anything past a 5k I use running underwear
Makes sense
Runderwear is my go to underwear for long runs and races
it's a good choice
I second that. My combo is most often shorts or tights with Runderwear + Naked waistband. No bounce in any 'department'.
aaron leeman-smith I need to try a naked waistband
What suplumunts do you take all together thanks
i sometimes drink unived recovery mix or owyn protein after a hard run
running underwear? Whaaat? Why?
as i mentioned, if i run commando in running shorts that do not have a liner, it results in chafing.
No undies with split running shorts
Brief or trunks..??
none
I don't know if i'm immune to it or anything .. but what the hek is chaffing?
When your thighs rub together causing a rash. It happens to me and I would never consider running without sports undies. Not to mention I don't like my junk bouncing all around while I run.
Supernova -ah ok yea that doesn’t happen to me
I like Path Projects Tahoe Base Liner 5”
Exeficio and Tesla are good to go.
i've never had experience with the tesla brand. i've always been a bit wary of it due to the name
@@kofuzi They are pretty nice. Quality is on par with all the big brands.
nice fun
Check out BN3TH underwear. Nothing else compares. Nothing else even comes close to the comfort and quality. Seriously. You won't regret it. You're welcome.
i'll take a look
@@kofuzi wicked! They're the absolute best. Hope they change your underwear life, man. Thanks for your work, love your videos. Big thumbs up from Canada, homeboy!
The answer is yes btw.
Never chafed going commando.
i chafe always when going commando
Short answer is yes! No serious runner is going to go commando. Even if you don't get chafing why would you want your junk bouncing all around on each step?? I hate to say this but if running commando doesn't bother you it probably has to do with "size." I think an average and above man needs undies to keep everything together while you run.
Short answer is no! If you don't chafe there's no need to wear underwear. Why would you want you junk not bouncing around? Does it need to be glued to your body or are you a man?
@@hrrrrr2084 . Read my comment again.
@@MrSupernova111 Guys have junks. Get on with it.
Why did I miss in your comment?
@@hrrrrr2084 . With my size I can't have it flopping around while I run. Its very uncomfortable and would be highly noticeable. Not everyone is small sized like you.
@@MrSupernova111 Please don't underestimate my size. I just accept that' I'm a man and that's it.
Women have boobs that stick out and nobody is disturbed. Men have another thing.
Obviously, if people notice that I have a junk, they were looking at it. They wanted to see it anyway and won't be offended. Most people don't look there.
