    Racing was so fun to watch then. I was a fan from 96-2020. Just not the same any more.

      For me it was around 2011. I still keep up but the stages, playoffs and this new car and crop of drivers are just not exciting.

    I never knew that Earnhardt took a champion's provisional to get in this race

    I remember watching this race on tape a lot as a kid and every time I still hoped Musgrave would make the pass. Amazing that he was this close considering his cup career only went downward after 97

    I recall in the NASCAR era prior to sponsorship ties, this was called the *Rebel 400.* Don't know how well that would go over with the emotionally-charged culture in 2020 US.

    Might be one of the more underrated races of the 90's. Musgrave and Jarrett raced clean for the win. Had it been in today's NASCAR, the leader more than likely gets dumped.

      Would have been 3 Green-White-Checkered finishes and 4 cautions in the last 30 laps.

    Both Dale Jarrett and Jeff Gordon hit the wall early in the race, but their brushes with the wall don't hurt their cars too much and they end up finishing 1st & 3rd respectively! I'm sure Ted Musgrave had to feel a bit cheated that he had that race won and wound up losing to a guy who hit the wall!

    Funny how when traction control Jeff Gordon got 4 tires he could blow through the field, but nobody ever seemed to be able to do that to him when he’d take only 2 tires.....

      Traction control Jeff Gordon? HAHAHA!!! Na, they were FAR more creative than simple traction control, boss!!

      Dam, I'm still laughing!!!! Traction control..... AT DARLINGTON.... THE MOST ABRASIVE TRACK AT THE TIME??? 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

    • @Lord_Reavous
      @Lord_Reavous 2 роки тому

      I thought it was agreed that traction control would reduce the HP, so a really skilled driver could outdo someone with TC. More like Ray Evernham spread that rumor to distract from what he really was doing.

    • @rebelracing88
      @rebelracing88 2 роки тому

      @@Lord_Reavous depends on the circumstances. At a slick track like Darlington traction control would allow a driver to get back in the gas quicker because the tires will hook up better. Darlington isn’t a horsepower track, so a small loss of power wouldn’t really hurt the speed.
