We had to go for this as needed 7 seats with 3 kids. Great car but one key point missing in the review is drive quality in a passive suspension… not great and feels like a boat going around corners. Point about the brakes is very valid as well… way too much dead press at the top, which then makes you hit the brake harder than you need to! With 7 seats open you will need a roof box, which will then have an impact on your range. Otherwise a typically pleasant Mercedes!
@@HelloMyFriend_Most people in need of a 7 seater, electric SUV will be doing mostly city driving. If you’re worried about range on motorway journeys then just get a GLB diesel.
I test drove the eqb and I didn't note any of the weirdness in the brake feel. In fact, I thought the brake pedal was very firm with not much dead travel
63k for the average man in the street is just way too expensive. I think manufacturers have lost the plot when it comes to new cars. What happened when everyone used to buy a supermini as a family car. Anyone wanting a 7 seater would be better buying a 7 seater VW TOURAN.
Owner of one, love it. As stated, there are no other options if you want 7 seats. You said Android Auto, haven't gotten that to work. Not sure it's supported, at least not on the 2023 model.
Sounds like 7 seats are the default version in the UK..? Here in the US those two extra seats are just an option. Of course those extra seats are for children, not sure why you would complain about the headroom there :). The relatively compact size was a big factor for us as any longer car than this would not fit into our garage; this one just barely does - o problem thanks to the reliable parking sensors. The moonroof should be standard in a luxury car like this, it makes for a big experience difference. I’m not too worried about the range - it’s plenty enough for several days of local/regional driving before one needs to recharge (we usually recharge back to 80% anytime we ended up below 50, and charge to 100 only when a longer trip is planned). The quietness of this car is amazing, feels like being in an S class. I agree with your observations about the brake behavior, surprising for a car of this price class.
Drive EQB 250 after driving 6 E220"s . Like the car a lot . Lovely to drive. Range not a problem. Just need to manage. Dont use 7 seats at all. Bought it. It's easy yo get in and out of..
So it's the exact same car as its fossil fuel equivalent only it's more expensive and its range and charging speed is about 3 years behind the competitors. Something tells me Mercedes is relying on its past and brand loyalty.
What EV do you know that has better range around same price? ALL have an average range between 220 - 330 miles. That includes Audi, BMW, Merc, Tesla. Even if you go for the EQS or Volvo EX90, it has a max range of 360 and in real life that will be 300. People think you can get 700 miles in other EVs haha
Charging speed is actually good. Mercedes have very flat charging curves. Other manufacturers quote high peak rates but they can't sustain them. e.g. EQB charges quicker than a MachE despite the lower peak rate. EQB is a great car, especially if you need a 7 seater.
The Rivian is a 7 passenger all electric suv. Been around for a few yrs too. Not sure why not mentioned? But if ur used to a luxury car like Mercedes it’s not that.
I was under the impression that the 6th and 7th seats aren't standard but are add-ons that cost over 1000 pounds. Oh yeah, adaptive cruise control isn't standard either. They're overcharging quite a bit good old Mercedes.
@@ViewBothSides Every market has their weird idiosyncrasies - in the US we have certain upgrade packages (e.g. "AMG" which also brings the suede leather seats, "Technology" which adds heads-up display, VR-assisted navigation and parking cameras - but strangely enough the dashcam is deactivated in the US and cannot even be added after the fact -, and so on) There is no a-la-carte choosing of features unless one wants to wait a very long time and have additional costs.
Touchpads and touchscreens aren't as safe as physical buttons and knobs, since they require drivers to take their eyes off the road. Physical interfaces can work on muscle memory. Large screens also tend to distract, and require frequent driver's eye adjustments on dark roads.
I own a Tesla Model Y 7 seat option that is similar price and better at a lot of specs. It looks like this has less 3rd row space but is a nicer inside. Why do you not mention the Y as an electric 7 seat option? Been out for years.
I really like the looks of this EV inside and out but it’s mediocre specs make it overpriced. I think this could be a nice car to pick up used at a drastically reduced price if you just need a second are and you have another one for long trips. If you need 7 seats a Model Y can be configured that way but at this point, if I wanted 7 seats I’d probably just get a plugin hybrid if I wanted to drive electric or wait for the Kia EV 7. I’m guessing the ID Buzz is going to be pretty unobtainable for a while after it gets here.
Battery instead of a fuel tank would have sounded better. It would also have made more sense. Motor instead of an engine could get confusing...electric motor would fix it.
Such inaccurate information. I have one on salary sacrafice. I get 230 miles on a bad day, thats 20 miles less than advertised and 270-290 during summer. Thats 20-30 miles more than advertised. BMW iX xdrive 40 costs 69K and gives you 220 miles with advertised milage if 257 miles.
The touch pad is a horror. Anything touching it will change settings in the car. For example, a stray loop from your USB-C cable will actuate the system. Other problems as well such as the mode to follow speed limits. Traveling past a school around midnight, will jam on the breaks from 35 to 15 mph. Passing a highway sign for 70 followed by a 65 for trucks and a 55 for buses in the space of 100 yards will activate all three. Turn that system off. Lane keeping can throw you from one side of the road to the other. Turn that off. And for god's sake, how many miles per watt hour would it take to scroll the name of the currently playing song? I keep other automatic conveniences off as well. I don't like the nickel and dime approach to keeping the features you thought you purchased active after a period of time. With all this said, I love driving the car.
The tesla model Y has a 7 seat option and you do not lose as much space in the back. Also the model x has a more spacious 7 seater option for 80k configured. So about 14k more than this one. This may not be too big of a difference for many and the X comes with front and back tv’s with theater streaming services.
With any third row vehicle, which requires a second row passenger to first exit the vehicle, is a poor choice for anyone who values the safety of the children. You’d have to ask, what happens if it goes pair shaped? Will the third row passengers make it out by themselves or will they need extraction by emergency services; why take the risk? And where’s the rear crumple zone? Oh yes, it’s where your youngest children were.
Overpriced ,not quick , slow charging , no dedicated ev platform , not aerodynamic, not officiant , not even looking good just looking old and tired 👎👎👎🤮🤮🤮
Have never seen a situation where a 7 seat car needed an adult male to get in the back, its worth pointing out I guess but in reality its never happening.
My sister has three small children who require the ISOFix points for three child seats. Her husband would sit up front. Yes, there would be one spare seat, but if you downsize to a 5 seater, where does the husband sit? Are there even three ISOFix points in any 5-seater? There is a market for this.
