Don't laugh but I am 81 years old and I so love this aria. My voice is still passable although I was never a professional singer I simply love to sing. So doing this piece is on my list of things to do. No one is going to hear it but me. This is a fantastic tutorial. Thank you

Oh, I won't laugh, I am 84 and want to do the same thing although I never developed a singing voice. I have been hard of hearing since my mid-twenties but could manage in life until I turned 60 when I started wearing hearing aids. As is common with deaf people, I found music to be annoying and interfering noise because I could never recognize a tune! Five months ago, I received a cochlear implant which means I have to re-learn to recognize sounds which includes recognizing and understanding speech. I find listening to music helps enormously and I listen every day and many times to 'O mio babbino caro', again and again. This aria makes me so happy and who knows, I may even try to sing along before too long, only in private of course! Thank you for teaching us.

@@ankewynmalen1186 What a wonderful story!! I love that you are re-learning about sound, and that music is helping you. I really hope you'll feel inspired to sing along! I hope you find your new sound world to be a truly happy adventure. 😁🎶

@@user-sw3eq7xh9l Wow, that is amazing! I have never been able to sing, but about a week ago I started trying again (been trying for years on and off 😂) and listening to myself. I noticed that the only songs I actually wouldn't be mortified to have someone hear me singing are all old jazz standards like Smile, Misty, Unforgettable, Fascination etc. I came here because I've never tried this genre. When I saw your comment, I was so encouraged. I thought I was being crazy trying to learn by myself, FOR myself, at 61...but I'm not alone! Thank you so much for sharing your story! If you won't quit, I won't quit...Promise! 😊❤️🎶

OH MY GOODNESS! I have sung this aria a few times but never been happy with it. I always felt there was something lacking, so I was looking for a video of it being sung "properly", and found your site! I realise now I have not been phrasing correctly in some parts, so I was immensely interested in your video. I kept pausing and trying to emulate the things you talked about - pronunciation etc, but when I sang it with you, it was the ICING ON THE CAKE! I truly feel I have just had a personal lesson with you. My thanks are absolutely meant and I have now subscribed.
I class myself as a Crossover Lyric Soprano, though my main genres are top movie songs and songs by "the divas", and musical theatre (my first love). But I do sing some, what I describe as "light" opera, and I now feel that up until now I have missed out, and that I now feel you are my personal coach.
YOU ARE FABULOUS IN YOUR APPROACH.
