- This week we row our own gears in a manual gearbox-equipped Audi S4 Quattro. This Misano Red example comes equipped with the Black Optic package, which includes 19-inch wheels, summer tires and high-gloss black appearance tweaks.
The S4's 3.0-liter supercharged V6 churns out 333 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque and is matched to a close-ratio six-speed transmission with a dual mass flywheel, which then routes the grunt to a Quattro sports differential, making for quite an entertaining drive

This car rev matches for you
he is great driver. This audi has passive rev-match which is completely different from porsche and the other brands. It does not automatically rev-match for you on downshifts. It was assist in downshifts if when you blip you are off by over 500--1000 rpm
Sounds like a dream. Audi isn't generating artificial engine notes through the car's audio system right? That engine sounds amazing.

Wow, you started moving in 2nd gear pulling out of the parking lot... That looked very easy.
It lookd very easy, because it is easy. But let the clutch talk about it after 10k miles of running like that. It will be destroyed.
The sound of this motor under hard acceleration is intoxicating-and it's so silky-smooth. Wonderful. Kudos to the driver for really excellent heel-and-toe downshifts.

marcel151 If you mean that the manual gearbox has rev-matching, then no, it doesn't. It was the driver's skill.

All manual Audis have a "passive" rev matching system. It's always on and the car will rev match for you. However, it will only do so if you don't give it a good blip of the throttle. I think if you're off by about 500-1000rpms or somewhere around there, that's when it will rev match, so if you don't blip it at all (like the driver) it will rev match.
I like how smooth and refined this car looks and sounds when cruising. And then it roars when you step on it. German engineering, such a beauty. That interior looks so soft covered in leather, the sexy flat bottom steering wheel. Nice driving too. This would definitely be a fun car to own. ;)

why s4 have diffrent engine sound than a6 3.0 tfsi? this is the same engine
Im late but a lot of it has to do with the exhaust system and the length of the exhaust, the S4 is meant to be sporty sounding whereas the a6 is meant to just be a "basic" and quiet daily, most a6 owners didnt care that it had a supercharged v6.
Still one of my favorite cars...will get one soon!

Sounds very nice. Didn't know the US got manual for this car. Concerning sound, yes the dynamic mode enables a extra 2 exhaust valves to open. Even on a BMW E46 330i, you can find a butterfly valve in the exhaust.
E46 m3 also has 333 bhp... Small world :)

Love the way you shift man, wish to make it like you in my future sports car.. Dunno what car will get since I live in the EU I may buy a German or a french but my dream cars are Americans which are reliable but expensive and I mean muscle cars..
No just No. American cars are cheap compared to germans, yeah they sound good, they look good, but they are less reliable. Everyone know that.
Ok I don't know where you come from but I was told they're cheap if you lived in the USA because the car parts are very less expensive than in Europe, If I ever got a 'Stang, which is my dream car, I would rather to take to an american imported cars shop because they know how to fix it but the mechanic bill may be pretty "hot" of course. Btw I have an Italian friend who owns American cars and he never had a fuckin' single problem, not a problem of cheap/reliable or something if you drive it regularly and change oil, tires and something else you won't have a problem..

Well that's my own problem and by the way all cars and sports cars have a fuel consumption it may depend you know there are different motors..

Lol. It's not real engine sound. It's from a device called soundaktor, pretty much a little speaker near the fender. Look it up. You can pinpoint where the sound is coming from when you have it in dynamic.
The s4 doesnt have that. Plus, it isnt fake engine sound, it is real engine sound just amplified through the speakers.
Nate Barry Lol. Yes it does. I owned a 2013 and it literally had a speaker in the firewall. If it isn't coming from the engine then it's fake. I don't care if it's amplified.
It isn't a matter of opinion if amplified sound is fake engine noise or real. It is a fact that it is real noise.

This is the black optics package, where the grill is entirely black, and the trim along the door edges are black as well. You also get some nice wheels, and the mirrors are the color of the car. Just makes it more "low key".
