season 6 episode 11 “Saints & Sinners” recap:
Ok so, We left off last episode with the introduction of two new characters Alonzo (Leon) & Professor Gardner (Kadeem Hardison) and the possibilities of new relationships on the horizon.
The episode begins in church or shall we say the abundance of tithes. As Papa drags his friends Jake & Bakari to church, but not his recently deceased father’s church , a brand new shiny megachurch headed by his ex who’s also Kenya’s dad, “Pastor Ezekiel.”
Which takes us into our first tale spin , as I thought Jake & Kenya might link up, it turns out Jake & the pastors wife catches each other’s eye and Zay hits on Kenya. Jake ends up smashing the pastor’s wife. Jemma played herself, as Britney brushed her off, saying let’s keep things professional. Zay confides his plans to Kenya as they begin to get to know each other.
Now after a good night out that lead to some great sex that put Keyshia in a good mood and Emmit ends up with breakfast in bed. Sometimes that good ol’ physical connection can help you find your way back to each minus the arguing & bickering. But let’s not speak too soon, it could also just be a temporary fix, we’ll see.
Let’s head over to Rob & Tiffs crib , or should I say Alicia’s house, they’re just tenants as she put it. In the midst of Tiff & Alicia jousting for position, there’s a knock at the door. 🚪 Who dat, 👀, no other than Leon now known as Alonzo the lawyer .
Here’s where we find out he’s also Rob’s estranged father. Is this a conflict of interest or just a coincidence. We’ll get back to this.
Remember last week was “Blended Family” , I guess this week is “Extended Family”
While Emmit try’s to enjoy some one on one quality time with his dad, we get introduced to another new cast member, Emmit’s brother “Damien” aka Brett Gray whom I know from the Netflix series “On my Block” and the Critically Acclaimed “When They See Us” film.
You know life has a million twist & turns that can all change in an instance. Shaad was homeless sleeping on Emmit’s parents Couch 🛋️. Then after one night with Alicia, he gets a comfortable place to stay and some money in his pocket, while she gets a boy toy and a new head of security. Even trade ? What y’all think ? Or shall we wait and see how this plays out?
I will say, don’t give me another niggas jacket tho. I don’t care how nice it is or how much it cost. That’s nasty 🤮 work.
Now back to Rob & his father Alonzo the lawyer have a sit down. Where Rob quickly confirms that his dad is here for business not family. Rob was in search of a father, Alonzo was in search of a Favor.
Footnotes:
In this episode we finally got to see Papa’s mom. As she basically called him a trader, for leaving his father’s church for Pastor Ezekiel.
Did Jemma think she was being seductive doing that wack ass lil dance in the studio that was ignored and curved.
Will Jake continue smashing the Pastor’s wife? Is she just a beard for the pastor or is she just a freak?
My favorite part was his conversation with Jemma about it. Be careful what you ask for, she ask for the truth, Make sure you can handle it cause he gave it to her raw & uncut. She came over and she let me fuck, how can I say that nice 🤷🏽♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣
How will Emmit’s brother change his life?
The episode ends with Bakari reflecting on his life as he faces stares at the crossroads of his decisions.
No Douda or Trig this whole episode, so you know what’s coming next.
All in all, I’d give this episode a 6/10, hopefully all the new characters are set, now let’s get to the meat & potatoes. See y’all next week for season 6 episode 12 recap!

My Take
1. I was like Jake the realest thus far and Jemma could not handle the truth but I love that he gave it to her
2. I love Kenya for Bul I hope he changes
3. I’m sad for Bacaree
4. I pray that pastor don’t get Poppa in no trouble
5. I’m living what Emmett’s brother is going through in real life right now and that open my eyes to his feelings
