Thanks everybody, including the officer who saved my life
I am the rider who got hit by the crazed motorist
We were out for a daily cruise and had our helmets upgraded so we could communicate with each other The rider behind me is a very good friend of mine, he was riding his Harley while I was riding my 2021 Indian Challenger.
I spent 10 days in ICU with 11 broken ribs broken left knee, broken, left clavicle, fractured, right clavicle. Both hands were fractured and multiple bruises around my whole body.
Somehow, I survived this mess and I am now in recovery for the past 11 weeks come this Sunday.
Unfortunately for me I did not have the most protective gear on. My Shoei helmet saved my head from serious injury. You guys that ride with less than a full helmet on are nutz. Keep riding my friends and keep your head on a swivel.
It's amazing you survived - it looked horrific. More gear would have probably helped, but no one was walking away from that collision unscathed. I always worry most about the vehicle coming from behind - everything else can at least hopefully be mitigated by defensive riding, but not that. Really glad to hear you came through it ok.
Couldn't be happier to hear that you're recovering. Hopefully well. Your unfortunate incident is my worst nightmare as a rider and the reason I rarely stray from my turf here in Northern Nevada down 80 to the valley. It's just too congested and crazy down that way for me. I'll tell you what though, the scariest part of the video was when that clown made a move toward you with that blade and the CHP and Deputies topped that guy so close to you. To close for comfort. But hey, better lucky than good... Cheers mate.

Yeah. It wasn’t very clear what he said. It sounded like he said the motorcyclist did not survive

Excellent job by the officers, nobody can pay them enough to deal with what they have to deal with, I hope the motorcycle rider makes a full recovery.

I can't even imagine being in that situation. Hit from behind, completely leveled, into the middle of a police chase, shots fired almost immediately, then some dude tries to stab you while you're still probably in shock. Accidents are always surreal, but that had to be completely mind bending. Plus he was riding with his buddy. Prayers for this guy. Sorry you got caught in this, man.
He passed away, it said it in the video. He was out during everything by the fact he never moved once during anything after he landed. Last thing he probably knew was cruising with his buddy.

Imagine the bike rider waking up in hospital and asks what happened. Well a crazy guy purposefully drove his vehicle into the back of your bike , then skipped over to you and tried to stab you , then the cops shot him , with bullets narrowly missing you. Then after a few seconds ,the guy got up off the ground again and tried to stab you again , the cops shot him again and that's the end of the story. Guy says , hold on , did you say skipping?
I have never seen a grown man skip before, let alone skip with a knife over to stab someone

Cops have the toughest jobs in the world. We all either hate or love em--depending on if we are getting a ticket or getting our stolen car back. All I know is that without Law and Order, this world would be up shit creek w.out a paddle. Cops are what keep our society safe and give many the peace of mind to go out and enjoy life. Cops are the BEST !!
If it happened here in Minnesota the cops and the civilian motorcyclist would have been charged for murder. The criminal would get a statue or highway name after him.

That's some good work by the police to stop the stabbing but I question the pursuit that put the public in danger in the first place. It should have been called off if he was just fleeing a typical traffic stop.
Many of the worst criminals in the world were caught because of simple unrelated traffic stops, including:
Ted Bundy, David Berkowitz, Timothy McVeigh, John Allen Muhammad, Rodney Alcala, Robert Rhoades. These are just the serial killers. How many other killers, rapists, drug dealers, molesters and other serious criminals have been prevented from hurting others due to simple traffic stops?
Jesus christ you guys need some training with your PIO. First off can he attempt to look at the camera once so it's not as obvious he's reading off a script. Second when you are saying the civilian survives don't say he ultimately survived, you say luckily he survived or thanks to the training of our first responders he managed to survive. Ultimately is when you say they ultimately succumbed to their injuries. Thankfully he did survive and the crazy attempted murder is not an issue anymore

God did you watch the video? The civ did not get Stabbed, and what would you have done to stop the car? there was no time for spikes in a 120 MPH chase on a very active highway which also removes the possibility of a PIT (if any responding officers were even pit certified, one has a K9 so he cant PIT)
@clownrev he should have never been released to begin with. He should have not ben able to get into a police chase to start. Do some research but good job on showing your ignorance
