Thank you💖 Yes I stayed in a self catering res. It was good, I had a mini bathroom in my room (with a shower, toilet, basin & mirror). The kitchen was the only common area I shared with other people on my floor. Sometimes I felt lonely though because having your own space means missing out on general interactions with people. Having a bathroom in my room also made my room feel smaller & not so good for my mental health. But for the most part I loved my it because I love being alone & having my own space
My res was also a more modern self-catering residence compared to the other ones, so I had bragging rights😌

It depends which faculty you’re applying to. Maybe aim for a minimum 70s across the board

UCT is the best in Africa so I guess
I don’t really know the UK education system well enough for me to suggest you should move, but I think UCT is good. It’s demanding & expensive, but hey what university isn’t 🤷🏽♀️ Maybe try to do an exchange programme if it’s available & see if you like it🤔

what is “tut”
It’s a tutorial. We had one for all of our courses. It’s basically a more intimate version of lectures. We had a tutor for the course & we’d have to do weekly readings in preparation for them & submit weekly assignments for some of them. Unlike some lectures, attendance for tuts was compulsory & counted towards our final mark for the course
