Hi Barry - coming along nicely. Re the drawbar carriage pivot, the earlier tractors had a groove machined in both ends and circlips fitted. And at the other end, you are correct about the step bolt. Will try and post a picture of one in case you want to go super original!
Hi OK Hansen, many thanks for that, i'll keep it in mind over the next few days as the plug arrived today so we'll get some oil in hopefully by Wednessday, many thanks Barry
Welcome back Barry, that back end is really coming together now, it's amazing how a few small jobs make such a difference. We've had a break in the weather so I've managed a few jobs too - high/low range detent freed off, start safety switch wired in (by passed by some clown), front wheel toe in set up. Next job is adjusting the pto clutch, any idea where I can buy selections of UNC/UNF nuts and bolts without going on the dreaded e-bay? Keep them coming Barry!!
Hi Ken, yes GWR fastenings have there own website, I use them and spalding fastenings but I do it through ebay as you get free postage and sometimes a little cheaper, I know what you mean about the jobs and once you start investigating you find all sorts of strange things that have been done to sell the tractor, blanking plug came today, I'll get that in tomorrow and get some oil in it(if it stops dry) cheers Ken Barry
I'm kinda glad mine doesn't have that under the PTO housing. Weather here has been horrible too. I'm just not going outside to work on mine till it warms up a bit.
Hi Shane, see you got a mention in the DB magazine this month, well done! The weather, is still crap here rained all day today and yet Scotland yesterday was 20 deg unbelieveable. many thanks Barry
G Day Barry, I think the tip gets broken off the sensor fitting when people try to pull the pro box off and don't know to undo it. Those little jobs sure fill a day in. I think right and left stabiliser brackets are the same could be wrong there though. I was making them a while back as the aftermarket ones were not that good. Bloody hot and humid here.
G D Lance, never thought that about the sensor, that makes a lot of sense about them being bent. Just gone back through my video's looking for the other stabiliser plate thinking I could fix it, it was never there! must have got lost before I bought the tractor. any chance you could box up some of that heat and send it this way, looking forward to the summer. cheers Lance Barry
Hi Barry My 990 has 2 sway bar brackets. All the bolts are 1/2" through 5/8" holes in the brackets. Sounds like your mounting points have had the threads stripped and been retapped to the next size. The 990 brackets are not handed but I think the 780 brackets are, you may have a 780 bracket . Maryhill tractors do brackets at sensible prices.
I've collected pictures and photos of the selectamatic tractors which allow me I identify parts which are drawn generically on the parts diagrams. The normal stabiliser brackets for the 990 have the boss in the centre of the 3 bolt plate, whereas the 780 plate have the boss offset like yours. Be careful as the 1200 tractors plates don't fit the 990, but 995/ 996 do fit.
Hi Barry, just a quick note about the stabiliser bracket, the pin on this bracket should be directly inline with the lower link pivot pin. If not, you have the wrong one.
Hi Crofter, the adapter was supplied by Stuart at Barcley Williams in the UK A really good company to do business with, lead times are excellent and Stuart is extremely knowledgable about the DB range. many thanks Barry
@manfromthemist1958 ah yes thanks Barry. Had been buying things from them before they're very nice and helped me out with problems I'm having with valve chest. Have you got your hydrolics working yet?
Got a question for you in the outer hubs what oil is correct I've used castrol D140 but told it needs to be 140 EP or 90 EP hand book don't tell me which grade dunno if you can help out or any viewers
Hi Jon, just been having a look in the manuals and cannot find the grade of oil, (I have found it in the past) and I'm sure it said 140 however, me personnally will be putting EP90 heavy gearoil in them once I'm happy we're all finished in there, at the moment they are buried in grease EP2. I'm trying to find a table of lubricants in the manuals, there's got to be one somewhere. Cheers Jon Barry
Hi Barry ,i have a question ,what that suction thing do? , because mine is broken , something is ripped off it ... ,and another one ,why sometimes the hitch just dont lift up ,it stays there ,sometimes stays a minute sometimes 10 ,im from Romania, and no one knows why is that ... Please help me
Hi Ed, the suction adapter fits into the suction lift pipe that is connected to the hydraulic pump, It has screwed into it via that little hole you see, a suction vacume/pressure switch ( the reverse of your oil pressure swtich)that detects the pump sucking and puts out a little light on the dashboard, if your hydraulic oil filter blocks and the pump is unable to suck the oil through, the switch will remian closed and the light on the dash will stay on, telling you the operator the filter is blocked, most switched and adapters get broken because operators put a floor/trolley jack under the diff without looking, unaware the swtich is there and break the unit, which is why they are hard to find second hand. I'll put a little bit in the next video in a couple of days showing my broken swtich and adapter. hope this helps many thanks Barry
@@manfromthemist1958 Thanks you friend this really helps me to understand how it works and what i need to buy , thanks again ,but how about the second question ? About the lifting Hitch? I can give you my email to talk there ,or my WhatsApp, i really don't know what to do with that issue
Hi Ed forgot to have a go at your second question, sorry, I'll also put my thoughts in the next video for you. It's easier to show on the tractor and a diagram than to explain. Barry
