He's one of the top 10 screen fighters probably, just in terms of selling choreography in a convincing way. His fights as the baddie in Shaolin Mantis are also great
The best Kung fu fight scenes ever....period. Watched this scene too many times to count and I never get tired of watching it. Thanks UA-cam for allowing me to edit my comments 4 years later. 😂
Facts, this actor Leung Kar Yan playing the role of WingChun grandmaster Leung Jan in this movie also appeared in the Ip Man 3 movie. Leung Kar Yan's role on that Ip Man 3 movie was the store owner who was beat up and killed by Cheung Tin Chi.
They sure did do him dirty, but as you can see they had no choice. If he fought that well from being stabbed in the back twice and with a bear trap on his leg they’d all be dead. 🤷🏿😂
In this movie although the cashier and porky are awesome, the teacher shows just the class a master has. He is calm, not flamboyant but shows his technical superiority inspite of being injured. The neutralisation of spear and the others atop the chair is just poetry in action. This and the dancing master in Prodigal son are true masters.
Hear Hear!!! Music to my ears reading that. You're right. It's great being able to witness artists whose poetry in their motion demonstrates perfectly the values and principles to being that they hold dear. Humility, modesty, grace, fluidity, strength, economy,.
This movie " Warrior 2 and dirty ho" to me have the best fight scene ever. I've been watching these scenes for 40 years and they have stood the test of times. This is a remastered copy where some of the original dubbing was lost. If you could get your hand on the original dubbing and combined it with the remastered copy, you will have a great classic kung fu movie.
+Seven09 absolutely. I kept willing him to keep going but they wouldn't relent. I also think he didn't want to kill them, just bruise them badly. I put my hands over my eyes when they pounced on him like a pack of wolves and with their evil cackling echoing through my mind.
This scene is one of the best ever yet, the guy didn't even know kung fu in real life.. amazing how films can make you look like you've been doing it all your life and you haven't..
Lol at 4:12 that iron guy isn't able to understand where all he got hit. What a technical ass whooping. Master be like "I am not immortal but you have to earn my death by shaming your kung fu." 😎
We love Sammo so much we included a 3 part retrospective of him in our new film review show, Jake On Film! We breakdown all our top moments and share facts about his legendary movies. Check out our channel for more!
the best ever wing chun fight scene filmed. The flui movements of the sifu are unmatched till today

Amen. I'm going to watch it again to prove it just doesn't get tired.

I was traumatized by the death of this master as a kid. They did him dirty

@@TheMerciless187pure facts 😤he was giving their best guys the blues on his death bed

This was the greatest kung fu fight scene of all time i really like the way that the victim fights
@Tony Teresi His "feral" mode in The Thundering Mantis is the total opposite to this but just as iconic.
The sword-fight scene that happens prior to this with the 4 guards is reminiscent of a fight from The Three Musketeers starring Milla Jovovich.

This is also one of the saddest sifu's death I've ever seen in a kung fu film :(

The death of the teacher in Snake in the Monkey’s Shadow is also a sad one.
An absolute masterpiece..👌🏾

He just was naturally gifted! His best is the victim hands down.

What an ambush, he never expected that coming. Only if he didn't take that cashier as his student, then they don't need to remove this obstacle.
Love this movie, the actual Leung Chuan did not die like this.
Either way, he was dangerous and it took a army to kill him!!!
Even wounded, that's how you hand your business, smashing them all up! Break those fools man, don't let'em take you down easy.
All the tools they used on my man and he was still F’in them all up!
Beardy got down on this one
With all those injuries, he still whipped a whole lot of a$$!
Imagine if the first guy hadn't stabbed him.
You can be sure his student will avenge him.
One of my fav movies along with Prodigal Son awsome
You know your martial arts films bro
He did not unleashed his thundering mantis move if he did this enemies are finished.
3:58 longest combo ever XD
That fucker needed it he's so solid
I can’t sleep after watching such terribly bloody scene
I definitely won't be eating at that restaurant.
Esse cena mostra a total covardia de lutadores

The movements are too slow !
All Leung Ka Yan fightings were slow motion.
I find him very fluid watch thundering mantis ...He didn't actually know martial arts but he was very good at mimicking choreo maybe that's why
That was 40 or 50 yrs ago. All the action movies were like that style. After 1980s',the movement and shooting technology improved a lot.
Why are they too slow? I don't agree. They are elegant and poetic and the point is he totally dominates the coward killers.
Good example of wing chun trapping and controlling the opponents. To bad wing chun
Practitioners don't do this.
Pity he didn't know wing chun himself or any kung fu... he was just an actor, a very good one...
fuck that bear trap. waaa
So badass
I imagine Bruce Lee in the Masters role
haha! He's so solid!
Wing Chung, baby!
Chun
It was fucked what and how they did that, but he still kicked ass!!
he whopped ass.... he almost had them and he was outnumbered.... no outnumbered isnt even the word.... but he whopped ass
All dubs are bad, but the original English dub was way better, can't find it anymore.
Em ai nhà con mà thế xin nhik
thats defo Bruce Lee
Oi
😂😂😂😂😂😂
..
Covardia
Hate the new dubbing
v
Nah Ipman is better
Nope. Ip man's sifu is better than him. This guy's the sifu of ip man's sifu.
Top 10 boring kungfu fighting
You have no appreciation of art. You know nothing. Be gone.
@@BenNCM I know nothing, but I really felt boring when I was watching this.
@@kakalau2162 You also sound boring too
Boring comment for boring clip
what a failed attempt at trying to be edgy
