I've always noticed this! Dark eyes naturally absorb light a lot more than bright eyes, which is why blue eyed people struggle with the sun (think Alison in Greece for All Stars). Dark eyed people literally can't help the "dead" appearance on photos, but the editors could literally add a little eye shine and the problem would be solved.

Yeah I love how they fail to mention what their logic is for thinking bees would make anybody more inclined to buy jewelry. I would have been asking questions about that and caused them to sabotage me like they do with every girl that they don't want to win. I noticed that through the whole series they pretty consistently do photo shoots for advertising that makes absolutely no sense and they don't try to explain what they're logic is. They almost certainly do it to train the girls to be completely compliant and not question what's asked of them but it sure is cringey to watch...

    • @heatherduke5410

I’ve heard horror stories about reality tv competitions where they wouldn’t let people leave the confessional room til they got the soundbite they wanted. It’s pretty messed up as it can affect someone’s entire career, even if they do have a bigger personality it’s often edited to be more dramatic/pointed

Um no. Sadly this show is just a fairly accurate representation of what coming up in the modeling industry is like except that they get to do the kind of shoots that inexperienced models just starting out usually are not picked for. And the weird little challenges obviously aren't realistic either but I don't think they're meant to be. Although everything is done in a reality tv type format there's still a lot of accuracy present in this show, from the disrespect to being told to suck it up and do the shoot or go home. It's a seriously messed up industry and the only people who are treated like humans and not like dolls are the real seasoned pros and the rare prodigies.

Why are so many people here so utterly clueless about bees?? Bees aren't hard to calm and they rarely just randomly sting for no reason. Realistically the girls could move around pretty freely and be in very very minimal danger. Also, as they pointedly mentioned, they used pheromones on the jewelry. Pheromones change the way bees behave. Essentially they not only attracted the bees to land on the girls but also made them feel as though they were in a hive surrounded by other bees. Pheromones mean home and comfort for them, which is why bees will build hives in places where hives previously existed and were removed. The pheromones linger and since their purpose is serving as an attractant bees will go to those places. Those bees could not have cared less that they were around humans.

Models can even refuse things outside of that, no nude photoshoots, don't work with certain concepts that might clash with something like their religious beliefs, its why the client would need to discuss what the concept is/what they want beforehand. As someone who works with animals (like, I have a MSc in conservation bio) I think it's fine to do photo shoots like these with animals AS LONG AS:
    1. Everyone involved is comfortable being around those animals and the animals are well trained, so that no people or animals are at risk of being hurt.
    2. They don't use dangerous exotic animals. So like... chill snakes, bees, dogs, etc.? I think that's fine. Animals like tigers that have a history of killing people even when "tamed"? Cheetahs, which get really nervous about everything? Not a great idea.
I think basically... if it's an animal that's typically cared for using protected contact when they're in captivity (ie. there's always a barrier between the person and the animal) you really shouldn't be using them in photo shoots.

Your videos are where I come when I can’t take the reality of this world anymore. Seriously if I didn’t have an escape I would actually die.
Thank you for posting and having fun and just being silly and helping me be silly with you.

The point of the bees is make them really afraid and uncomfortable and see how they work under that pressure. But it is still a horriful idea.

Honey bees are generally docile. I know because I had a wild hive take over a part of my house for about six months. What happened is a hive got too big and divided into two hives and they found a new place. (My house) I even had to go to the hospital for a reaction after three stings in my sleep. The bees left shortly after that. Just happy they left on their own.
But during the six months I’d walk by the entrance of the hive the bees didn’t care. Generally speaking honey bees are super calm and nice.s

Why didn't you have someone come take care of it? Sheesh. Would you let poisonous snakes build a nest in your closet too?

I’m sure the producers tell them to be catty. It makes for better TV than if they were all nice and supportive, and ANTM has been about drama since it started. If it wasn’t, they wouldn’t have shoots like the racial switch one

Probably, but then again, the fab 5 are super popular because they feel like a warm hug.

OMG, I remember this episode!!! I've always been terrified of bees, wasps, yellowjackets and hornets, because I'm allergic to their stings, anaphylaxis type of allergy. I have major anxiety whenever a stinging insect is around. I would NOT have been able to do this photoshoot!

Me too! Bees don't get me too bad so I don't think I'm allergic to them but the rest I am, especially hornets and wasps omfg...the pain is so bad even though the real dangerous symptoms aren't really something I've experienced except a little throat swelling etc but I've had my hand stung and stay three times its normal size for over a week and even ungodly amounts of morphine barely helped at all...last time I got stung by SEVEN on my left hand fingers all at once 😭😭😭 didn't even know they were there..it was so traumatic. I don't know why they even have to exist. We should totally exterminate whole lot of them (but not honey bees obviously lol)

These are probably drone bees (male bees with no stinger). I doubt they would use bees that could sting.
