World's First and Original Ukulele Festival Celebrates It's Fond Aloha.
Since 1971, Roy Sakuma and his sponsors and volunteers have presented the Annual Ukulele Festival in Waikiki. The ukulele festival has become an international event attracting performers young and old from around the world and an ukulele orchestra of hundreds of children. The annual gatherings of ukulele enthusiasts draw thousands of spectators from all around the world.
In 2004, Roy and Kathy Sakuma established Ukulele Festival Hawaii, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving interest in the ukulele and bringing laughter, love and hope to children and adults throughout Hawaii and the world through the music of the ukulele.
