- I was up all last night having trouble sleeping because I couldn't get this tune out of my head! It's an "Acadian Favorite" for sure, popular in New Brunswick, Québec and Gaspé. I learned it from the playing of NE New Brunswick Acadian fiddler Étienne Larocque and on the Acadian Peninsula it's known mostly as "Reel du pont de l'étang". André à Toto Savoie and Merel Chiasson played it too from the same area! In fact, Yvon Mimeault of Gaspé also played it; it's the second tune in a medley that featured yesterday's tune "Gigue à Mimeault" as well. Éric Favreau popularized this tune by its Québécois title, "Reel de champs de bleuets", but it's likely from an Acadian or Gaspésien source.
If you're in Seattle, my dad and I are leading a public French-Canadian session this Saturday, September 28 at The Couth Buzzard at 1:30pm. Come by and say hi and let's play some tunes!

A lovely reel and an excellent job of playing it by both!
I love this reel! Thanks for bringing back up into my memory!
great tune
My Acadian parents (in Louisdale Cape Breton) pronounce bluets as "belvah"
@@ReginaldLandry-c1x haha wow that’s pretty different!
Plus que je l’écoute, plus que je veux l’apprendre. Un vrai ver d’oreille.
C'est l'fun à jouer aussi!
I came to your channel from you video of La Jigue de la Pointe d'Hirondelle by Étienne Larocque. Since you mention him here, I figured I would tell you that Étienne passed away today at the age of 91. I shared your other video on my social media page to honor the memory of his exceptional fiddle skills.
Thank you yes I heard about Étienne passing away. Very sad news and an incredible loss to Acadian fiddling. I'm grateful for the visit I got with him. Will do more of his tunes ASAP!
