DIY Fishing Rod Holder for Folding Pier/Bridge/Beach Wagon

- This is a little DIY video for the rod holder I built for a folding wagon I purchased at Sam's Club a few years ago. We are a family of four and have a lot of stuff we need to transport from the car to the oceanfront, and the wagon has come in really handy for that. Since this year we plan on doing some pier and beach fishing, I needed to add something to the wagon to help transport our fishing rods, too.
This rod holder holds up to 9 nine rods and cost about 18 dollars to build if you have a saw and drill already at home. It folds up with the wagon so you can easily stow it away in the car with the wagon and can be totally removed with a few snips of some scissors. And it only takes about an hour to make.
We'll be testing it out on our upcoming trip to California, when we plan to drive the entire coast along the Pacific Coast Highway, fishing various spots along the way.
Thanks so much! My son and I just made ours with the wire tires and it’s PERFECT… appreciate the video
Nice but what I used was heavy duty zip ties witch worked great and much stronger then fishing line . You will need to drill your holes a little bigger . It’s a quick way to make a fisherman cart .👌
I just found your channel. I take my dad who is disabled fishing, so we're limited on where to go because he can't walk far. I'm putting this idea to use this week. Thanks for the idea. You gained a subscriber from me. Got to support the locals!
Good luck with it. I still use mine, but it's due for a new tape job.
Dude this a a perfect idea. I just need to add a temporary rod holder for a fishing trip to NC. This is exactly what I am going to do thanks for the walk through.
Have a great trip! My initial tape job lasted about 2 years, and then it needed to be retaped. The only issue I had with it is that eventually the 50 lb line wore out, so a wire leader might work a little better.
This was a great video! Smart! I use my wagon for fishing & football games for my son.
So this way gives flexibility. Thanks!!
I still use this, but it's time to redo the tape for sure.
Thank you for this video, I'm trying to get a Wagon together for my husband and this will help with hauling the rods!!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow this is very incredible I just bought myself a wagon from sams club because when I take my kids with me it’s about a 45 min walk to get to the lake and my little one always taps out and can never finish the walk now I can put him in the wagon and just use your technique for my rods. I’m going to give it a try
Thanks!
Thanks for making this fishing rod holder video, very helpful for me. I am considering getting this handy wagon. take care.
It pulls okay in the sand if it's not too deep. I pulled it on the beach in Texas and it wasn't bad, especially where the water has packed the sand down some.
thank you
Nicely done ✅
Thanks.
I like this I'm doing it in the morning but instead of using fishing lime I'm gonna use removable zip ties
How did the zip lines work?
I bet the zip lines work better. The fishing line was a weak spot of the design and I replaced about every year.
Big wagon, but I guess if you are going to be hauling the family stuff it is just right. I saw a video about a guy using one of those for hauling his big Yeti supercooler so must be heavy duty enough. The rod holders just make it look cooler.
Yeah, the frame is surprisingly heavy, which can make it a pain to lug around, but we have so much stuff even before we add our fishing gear we need it. Viv is big enough to walk by herself now, but if you can imagine walking through parking lots and crossing streets and stuff, one of us has to hold Miles's hand, so that only leave three hands to carry things. Getting seven rods out of my hands will be nice. The best part about the wagon is that it folds up and fits in the SUV, but even then it's too big to take if we are going camping.
Well I feel dumb, should've just watched this vid first, lol
Never know what's buried in the archives :)
I miss you one like that
I finally got to use this at the Oceanside Pier in California. We parked a mile or two from the pier and it worked great for hauling all our stuff.
Team Cramer Fishing thansk for to tip
Use zip ties much better
That could work, too. I did recently reinforce the tape with a small thin board, too, because the heat and rain stretched out the tape a little bit. I just screwed the board across the PVC with some drywall screws and it was fixed. I'm still using this 2.5 years later.
