We must not forget that Satan used the written word when he took JESUS up to the highest part of the temple and said to JESUS..
"If you be the son of GOD then throw yourself off for it is written, HE will give HIS angels charge over you, and they will hold you up so that you don't even hit your foot on a stone "
There are many false teachers and preachers that use the written word but incorrectly as Satan did for there own desires..
So it would be more accurate to say that we should divide the word correctly and truthfully as the LORD meant for it to purpose HIS will And not any man's will..
Decernment is needed even when someone says.." it is written"..
Fortunately we have the HOLYGHOST in us to guide us but at times we have itchy ears that want to here the WORD of GOD preached to suit our lifestyles or deeds and not to convict us of our wrong doings ..
Divide/decern the written WORD as GOD purposed it..
