This is the way Americans lived and worked the soil through the 1800s till about the 1940s when farmers that could afford it bought Tractors and made farming easier. There still are some folks in America that log trees and some farming operations. The Amish in their Mid West farms still use Horses for Farm work and ride Horse and Buggies to go to town but they are a very small part of the total farm population. In addition to the farm work the Lady in this video does a lot of Cooking from Scratch which takes a lot of time by itself.

Update: I made it for dinner, it turned out delicious! I substituted the egg with a little chickpea flour dissolved in aquafaba (when I use beans I always keep the cooking liquid for a few days, just in case). I wanted to add some protein to the meal, so I mixed in some soya ricotta, which I made for syrnyky. The cutlets held together really well, they cooked really well, and were SO good to eat! The mushroom-tomato sauce is a great accompaniment for this.
