Good morning Clydian! I liked this video and some of the insights you put up regarding the synergy between the units. My brother and I run a 10-merc company consisting of 2 Swordsmen, 2 Brutes, 2 Warriors, 2 Spearmen and 2 Rangers. Both of the swordsmen are used in a DPS style rather than dedicated tank and by that I mean they use the rope-a-dope engagement after level 5 to hit the enemy, disengage to activate riposte, engage-disengage, et cet. At level 10 they get that skill that gives them a 50% chance to hit the enemy on disengagement which activates quite frequently and reduces repair costs. One of the brutes uses a 2-handed hammer + vanguard and one of the warriors uses a 2-handed axe + berserker. We use our rangers as cleanup. One is the merc Captain and his movement allows him to find the optimal position to generate the most valor points mid-battle. The other is based on your cutthroat build and is a LT as well. And he has the tactician dagger. It is not uncommon for this unit to kill 3-5 engaged enemies in a round, especially those who have been weakened by the warriors/brutes!! The one question I have is where do you find the oils you suggested? My apothecary recipes are minimal at best, I believe I unlocked bleeding oil, but have not found the other recipes so far.
There’s multiple ways to play the game! I’m just not the biggest fan of the riposte spam swordsmen builds because they take a decent amount of damage in order to deal damage. It’s essentially just speeding up the overall rounds for those two units and feels very ‘face first’. As for the oils you learn them after getting further into your wisdom path and leveling up alchemy and taking out a lot of plague nests! In my next videos I’ll go more in depth on the actual builds and give weapon and oil breakdowns as well as where to obtain them!
love the guides, new to the game so seeing some input helps a bunch. would love one about Knowledge points and what you prioritize , both in the Compendium and Path
Basic knowledge point information and prioritization is covered in my ‘Ultimate Beginners Guide’ But as a general rule of thumb most knowledge point spending comes down to a case by case basis. I highly recommend getting a couple easy recipes for food generation as well as career plans and run. After that I stockpile them and grab whatever would help my campaign the most at the time!
Infectious oil is good but it only works if your enemy has a turn. If you kill the enemy first, the oil won't have any effect. In that sense misty oil or something like that is better, as it works on your turn and helps you get rid of the enemy before they can have their turn. That all assumes you aren't fighting an enemy that comes at you in waves - but even the Guard can be forced to fight in only one wave if you kill all the members of the first wave (or accept the surrender of the last few).
At that point you’re playing solitaire. The ‘best’ or most ‘efficient’ way to play this game is to one-round all of your enemies before they move. I personally find that boring. Infectious oil performs well on archers with zone of control or their ultimate.
My favorite builds are archer with the named bow that shoots through, cuz if u shoot through 3 people you'll immediately get vulnerability on one and fury on self, and a backstabbing ranger with a crit build and a crafted dagger, cuz it's 100% crit rate if you ambush (hit from behind).
My main oil is Crit Oil. For archers and rangers is a must in my opinion Thx for the video! I "finished" the game last week, sadly nothing to do now :(
I love my bears. Have some Black a ow wolves that make pretty good support DPS as well, they just die fast if I’m not careful. Best part is though, I don’t have to pay them…
Explosive oil sounds good but it only works on enemies adjacent to your current target. The problem is that only in places like rat nests do enemies sit adjacent to one another. It's otherwise very rare for such a situation to arise. You can start pushing enemies around so they do touch each other but it's better to not have to do that. I apply explosive oil when going into a rat nest but not to all my troops as it can too easily lead to the rat queen being killed before you want to exit the rat nest.
Explosive oil has changed from the early access build that this video was based on. I believe misty oil and explosive swapped places, but with the current state of the game there’s some better options out there :)
I should point out that if you surprise an enemy in a forest they are likely to be bunched up together and may touch each other if there are enough of them, but even then, most won't be touching each other.
I have a couple livestream play throughs going right now, but nothing with more in depth coverage of these specific builds. That being said my more advanced build guide series I’m working on will have a bit more footage of end game builds in action!
I build my team for tomb exploring, cus that sh*t is tiring af - 3 fighters with shields, taunt, dueling, counter attack and hardcore for debuffs. (replace shield with torches in tomb because). All with unstable oils. - 3 infantries, using support, 8 meter attack buff, but one with animal control, the others with precision. Crit oils for all. - 1 poisoner (the girl they were about to burn at the stake because she's an alchemist), 1 strategist (my starter bro) and 1 assassin (the thief who robbed Lund's farm). All with support, throwing passive, retreat passive, and unstoppable. And yes, unstable oil for all. In tomb, they carry torches. - 2 Pike men, with support talent, stabbing assist, disengage at end turn and unstoppable (because they need to get behind my tankers). I don't really care about their oils, but I do give them unstable. - 1 Destroyer with that ancient great mace that deal 3 hits if she attack a group more than 2 (my starter, main DPS, armor breaker, tanker, the love of my life, the Goddess of the battle field). She get all thing that destroy armor and guard, plus that UNSTABLE oil, she breaks anything and everything. When I face boss, she get the small hammer that scale with her strength and shield, and in tomb she carries torches. - 1 Barbarian (my brother Thorium from Tiltren) he either uses that bleeding great axe from the lieutenant boss or that hatchet from that plague infected wife boss with torches. First blood, battle cry and AOE dodge. And let not forget UNsbLE OiL. - That 1 bear with healing collar So, do you want anything balance out in the next update? or anything new? I wish they allow us to return to the arena.
That’s a pretty solid lineup! I’m hoping for some difficulty changes or AI improvements. Being able to challenge arenas multiple times would be fun as well! I know their next update will be their ‘official release’ so let’s see what Shiro Games gives us.
I'm not sure if I'm just fundamentally not understanding how Right Between the Eyes works, but other than the bleed stacks it doesn't seem to do a whole lot of good. A lot of the time the damage is really low from the actual hit. Ordeal is nice vs bosses, but for most enemies if I go Cutthroat and just Stab + Frenzy from behind on an already engaged enemy, they're dead.
There is 100% a ‘best in slot’ for every class. I just enjoy different thematic builds over specific min-maxed builds. You can easily take on arenas and armies with a single unit in the late game, it’s really all about what you find fun!
It could lead to that if you don’t prioritize taking out leader units, but mitigating damage through positioning still works regardless of how strong the enemies are from their buffs. :)

You can always start a new game ;)
There are 3 difficulty states and multiple compositions to try. It is hard to be done with a game like this.
@@Dyanosis how about the new expansion man, time to wake up again

A lot of people enjoy animals, I’m just not a huge fan 😂
Well made Vid. Good info TY ! :)
Thank you! This video is slightly outdated but the overall synergy is still there

Great vids man! Do you have any gameplay vids where you proof of concept the strategies you're discussing here?

Why did you feel the need to accentuate "unstable oil" and misspell it?
Great video.

What do you think of the duelist class? Is there an interesting build?
I’ve got some stuff in the works ;) but I’ve found a lot of the ‘special’ classes lacking
6:40 Your Pikeman skill costs just 1 VP instead of 2. Did that get nerfed or will my spearman also eventually gain access to that?
Pikemen have been nerfed quite hard since this video was released unfortunately.
nice vid
Thank you!
Wouldn't this zone-of-control playstyle leave you open to leader units loitering on the field and giving huge buffs throughout the entire fight?
It could lead to that if you don’t prioritize taking out leader units, but mitigating damage through positioning still works regardless of how strong the enemies are from their buffs. :)
