    The doing compound exercises for higher reps was pretty refreshing. I feel like “Powerbuilding” pendulum in the general fitness space has swung towards more of; “do a single @8 RPE on the compound movements and then get your volume in through more machine based bodybuilding exercises”. Primarily from the influence a lot of the videos Helms has put out with Omar Isuf.
    I partially agree. If your competition squat/bench technique is like Sean Noriega’s then the competition movements might not be the best for a hypertrophy phase due to less range of motion. However I feel that the general idea misses out on a lot of the hypertrophic benefits of these big compound movements. Especially the variations that allow for extended ROM (cgbp, high bar squat, deficit deadlifts ect.). Seems like it’d be better to just use an extended ROM version of a squat and supplement with hacks/belt squats rather than just doing a single and getting all your volume from a leg press.

      100% in agreement! And even outside of the comp lifts I definitely meant also doing variations of them! In fact way more variations! I probably should have included that for powerbuilders. I see so many just comp squatting and benching themselves to death with crazy short ROMs wondering why they never get bigger!

    Good info - some great stuff in there I can use. Agree 100% with needing dispassionate third party/coach. I've learned so much from youtube and am a pretty nerdy guy so reading more scholarly stuff too - but obviously I don't know close to 'all of it' and even if I did I need my coach to tell me to ease up, push harder, or to spot form issues. On this one load management is a particularly challenging thing to get right. I'm just starting a bulk after cutting my initial 20+lbs of fat. Will see how long my body wants to stay on the bulk! :)

    • @BrendanTietz

      Dude just bulk slow and clean and you’ll be golden! The load management took me the longest to check my mind on it too

    Great vid Brendan! Benn using your free DUP program template! It is amazing! Was wondering whether you would ever think of creating a training app in future?

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  3 роки тому +1

      So I’m creating an app for prime currently! It’s essentially a members hub to store all of our private videos, host our client programs, communicate with clients and one another etc! My close friend and client is an app developer here in silicon and he’s crushing it! Can’t wait until it’s done

    Deadlift has gone from my best lifts to my worst lifts, one reason I think is since my right leg can't er properly I always try to force my position and am paying the consequence for it now, even no bars you know deadlifts is gonna be fucked

    I love doing bench press but I have quit it for months because of shoulder problems. I do ring dips and ring weighted push ups and I am very comfortable. But miss bench press. I was obsesed with scapular retraction and tucked elbows to not injury myself but it didn’t work. I think the problem is that in bench press you can’t move your scapulas freely. But when I see you benching you are able to retract and protract a little on each rep, and I would like to know how do you do that. I also wonder if bench press is not for everyone and in my case I should avoid it

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  3 роки тому

      Oh dude imo for lanky people especially having some free moving scapula is KEY! It really depends on your arching style and grip/biomechanics. We have a video on this on our private website but basically the more you learn to control your scapula the more you can keep it moving more free in bench to an extent!

    Algorithm.. also.. what’s the diff between the standard and elite group coaching man ??? 🙌

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  3 роки тому

      So standard gets everything except the ability to ask questions or send a video for the weekly Q&A, I answer and critique all form videos each week from elite members! Imo 15 extra is cheap for it and we’re probably eventually going to raise price on it but keep standard same price if not lower! I’d say get in now if you’re interested! Shoot me an email if you need help bro or have more questions, I’ll give you my number
