    Hi Davie, a fantastic Olive Parachute fly expertly tied… that’s the first pattern I’ve seen you dress where you need 3 pairs of hands, best regards, Wayne 😂😂

    I would enjoy seeing more videos like this where you show a fish caught on the pattern as well as how you presented the fly. Excellent!

    Hello Davie, what a beautifully tied fly, then a beautiful fish caught on that fly! I see parts of different flies integrated into yours, like the tail fibers forming the back. You taper the body using the waste and the thread. I think you solved my problem in tying parachutes upright instead of leaning, by dubbing a dam at the front. You are a gem! Thank you Davie!

    Excellent fly and excellent fish as well. One of the most memorable moments in fishing is catching a beauty like that on a fly that is tied with your own hands.

    Really nice to see a fly that you've tied catch, and nice trout too! I note you saying on many occasions that you'll include a few in you fly box. I'd really like to see you talk what you have in your box(es)

    Davie, how about a video of your area/bench where you tie your flies? And tips on how to be more productive? I usually sit down to tie flies, and spend more time raking through boxes and drawers than tying.

    I love this fly but don’t have any light olive hackle. Wonder how Olive Coq de Leon would work for the abdomen and a Dun or grizzly hackle would work? Nicely done, again. Loved the fishing part.

      Hi Rich,
      Many of the best hackles especially for dry flies come from Whiting, both necks or saddles are great and would tye you more flies than you would ever need..Here is a link to the guide to the sizes and quality they have for you to see..whitingfarms.com/whitings-olympic-grading-system/

    Would a grizzled microbarb work for the parachute Davie as I don't have any olive hackles that are small enough?. I'm definatly going to test this one out on the river leven when I get over. Keep up the good work Mr McPhail !!

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  6 років тому

      Hi Chris,
      Nothing wrong with a grizzle hackle on a parachute fly as it's probably used more than any other, I would tye some with the long hackle as well as they can work just as well...

    Hey Davie, looks like a nice trout fly for the rivers I fish here in Newfoundland. Seems the trout go for small dry flys like this, even smaller, over any of the larger ones..
    Nice fishing spot you got there too. Do you eat the browns?......cheers

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  8 років тому

      Hi Hunt4fish,
      I do enjoy eating trout but I mostly return them especially as the river I fish now don't stock it so all the fish are mostly wild..

    Davie, is that a quad bamboo rod your using. How do you like it over hex rods?

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  8 років тому

      Hi Michael,
      I was using a rod made by Guideline. Although I am a fan of bamboo as I learnt to fish with one, it was a Hardy 9ft 5 weight which unfortunately I didn't own but I did use it for a couple of seasons and I'm sure it learnt me to cast a better line...

      I just got my first about 4 years ago. since then I started making bamboo rods. Quality is not to my standard yet but I do have fun casting what I have made. big learning curve. but fun.

      Hi Intelligenkeit,
      Using feathers like this will give an impression of a natural fly that the fish are feeding on so you are right I'm trying to fool the fish to catch it..

      I mean its beautiful, but you can fool a fish with anything, they dont know the difference between a piece of chips and the insects.

    • @Troumon
      @Troumon 8 років тому +1

      I would say they do, just as much as you can see the difference between an insect and a chips...
